Characters being compared to dogs always use terriers or pitbulls or something for their metaphors. “They grab on and they don’t let go” “They keep worrying at it until it’s dead” etc.
Anyway, I want to see collies used as metaphors. Albert Payson Terhune style. “He was like an attack dog–making slash-and-run attacks, cutting them up worse every time, never staying in range long enough to get hurt but circling back over and over.”

Once Kagome and the gang get to the Lord Fujin’s castle in the East… the bigger plot finally kicks off, and Sesshoumaru and co will be a part of traveling Team Yokai Babies for All. 🤣👌

Oh man, I just found this fic and it's... amazing. It's not abandoned, I hope?
It’s not abandoned, progress is just slow. <3

Hey there! I was hoping to know if you would be planing to upload a new chapter in the near future? I love this story and am hungrily anticipating your next update!
Short answer; hells yes.I know its been an age and a half since I last updated, but that does not mean that I’ve dropped the work (I adore it too much)! My irl obligations have just sort of ran the gamut of shit-hits-the-fan-craziness and writing struggles. I do have bits and pieces of the next chapter written (and several more have long since been outlined). My goal is to complete and publish the next chapter before the new year.I thank you for your time, and I’m beyond thrilled that you have enjoyed what I’ve written so far. I hope in future chapters I continue to entertain and enthrall.

It’s scary – Bell, Cineplex, Shaw, and Rogers are trying to censor the internet and force the end of net neutrality in Canada. And worse, they’re trying to do it behind closed doors.
These 4 companies, led by Bell, are pushing to create an internet “blacklist” of certain websites that all internet service providers in Canada would legally have to block. They know this outrageous proposal would never pass, so first, they tried to sneak it into NAFTA negotiations – and now Bell is expected to introduce its proposal to Canada’s telecom regulator TOMORROW.
Critics are calling this move “unprecedented” and dangerous. If these companies get their way, this internet blacklist would have absolutely zero oversight in the courts. We need to stop this urgently.

Things written down, ages from now
Yokai 1: Do you not understand yet? You are *our* kami, the first of your kind-- perhaps the last, the only, that we shall ever have.
Yokai 2: Yokai will do everything possible to keep you from harm.

I always feel super hesitant to reply to comments on the fic. Like it’s better to stay quiet? IDK, anxiety maybe. But I’m going to try responding to some. <3

“Tonight, Sumi called no spirit, nor nearby kami— nay, for the first time on this night, Sumi calls upon the deity that she will serve for the rest of her natural life. She rings bells, she sings the incantations, and she moves her body through the dance in ever more complicated twists and arcs that gain speed with each turn of the heel. Sumi does not tire when sweat dampens the fabric bindings across her breasts, nor when it trickles down the length of her back. She does not grow faint nor stumble as her breaths grow shorter and specks dot her vision. Sumi drives on, pushes forward as her turns grow sharper, and the melody higher. The private ceremony grows more frantic with each invocation, the reiki builds and pulses, spiraling higher and higher without end.
Just as she fears the edge of a misstep, of failure… her kami descends.”
small glimpse of the next chapter... Hoping to finish it this weekend so I can start typing up what I have written for the chapter following it.

Poor Kagome, she’s got all of the pieces, but hasn’t figured it out just yet in that big ol’ brain of hers...

Hi! New reader here and I wanted to know what happened with Kag and Sessho when the barrier went down? She touched him and?
Hello!
Just wanted to say, thank you so much for taking a chance on my story! I also apologize if the answer seems roundabout or longwinded! One of the main… problems (or issues, I guess you could say), is that the majority of the story is purely from Kagome’s perspective. You’ve sort of got to work to interpret and pick up a lot of the subtleties in the story that often go unremarked. On top of that, Kagome is using a host of new abilities that she is slowly developing— all without fully understanding what they are, and the effect it has on those around her. Nevermind why it is that she’s coming into *these* abilities over *those* ones (hinthint: think about a kid in their formative years, and the people/places/things that they encounter/experience, that later shapes them). The long and short of it is this; that when Kagome laid hands on Sesshoumaru when he was in the middle of a killing strike— she performed a mammal yokai’s soothing/cradle technique on him. If you can recall, there were a few instances in which she’d used this before (when she was trying to calm Shippou down, and later, more forcibly towards the end of the impromptu surgery with Rin, most notably).
The technique itself is only used by mammal-type yokai moms’ (and fathers, occasionally extended family members). It’s a more direct form of soothing/calming an upset infant/pup/cub/kit/baby/etc. As the child grows, the skill is used with less frequency, and the ability eventually falls dormant once the offspring reaches puberty (and resurfaces w/ each new offspring, but the ability grows weaker each time). It’s performed by the parent injecting a measure of their own youki w/ positive emotions into the offspring through physical contact.
So… if you think about it, Kagome just shunted a whopping fuckton of “you’re okay, everything is fine, you are loved, you are safe, everything will be alright”, right past his youki shields, and all up in his grill.
tl;dr : Kagome shoved a metric ton of ‘everythingisfinesweetheart,it’sokay’ directly into Sesshoumaru, which baffled the shit out of him, and that’s why the fight was cut off.

There’s already...
-some comments about the anti-climactic nature of Sesshoumaru’s response...
There is a reason for that.

Rough notes on determining time and age for Kagome.
While factoring in her determination to excel, study her brilliant ass off, and stack classes on top of classes like a true master of tetris.

Another overseas doodle, the acorn representing Shippou, the squares represent Rin, and the flowers and shawl/scarf... WHO CAN SAY?
Gave Sesshoumaru a more angular/dynamic? face while Kagome has more of the gentle sloping curves of typical japanese? IDK. Differences, I wanted them.

Sometimes it’s a lot of writing it down, crossing it out, and others it’s just typing and backspacing.

SHIPPOU U CUTE FLUFF.
Such a cute kid, and never cutting him any brakes. Oh well, he’ll be fine. Just lots of therapy later on, you know, when that becomes a thing.
