Guess who ships BokuAka from here to the end of the world.
Few days ago I read this Haikyuu!! coffeeshop AU fanfic - tea-stained polaroids by dalyeau and it was so sweet that I couldn’t help myself. It made my day bright and sunny and, believe me, it was a veryveryvery bad day before.
You can’t stop me from drawing cute mwahahahahahaha

Hey, something I have noted is that, after the time in the hot spring in the Camp arc, where he blushed when Minea talked about the girls, Kirishima hasn't really showed any attraction towards women. I mean, after, we have the moment when the Baku rescue squad was sneaking behind a building and Momo got her chest stuck and we see Kiri's face, but he didn't have a blush, more of a mortified face. And then he was one of the guys not interested in seeing the girl's dorms. In fact, he was even (1)
Kirisihima’s Interest In Girls
I don’t like making opinions about Boku no Hero Academia characters’ romantic or sexual preferences unless it’s specifically stated in the manga, such as Uraraka’s crush on Midoriya. Likewise, I’m not going to claim Kirishima is straight, gay, bisexuel, asexual, or any other orientation because the manga doesn’t show his tastes. I’m not going to assume Kirishima is gay for Bakugou, and I’m also not going to say Kirishima is one of the straightest characters in the series. (I’ve heard opinions for both.)
I do agree with this ask on something though. Kirishima doesn’t view girls in a romantic or sexual light. He doesn’t find them exciting, interesting, or attractive just because they’re girls.
This doesn’t mean he’s gay or anything. This just means girls are not his priority. Girls aren’t on his mind just because they’re female.
During the dorm room competition, he knows the girls wouldn’t like his room and doesn’t appear to be bothered by them disliking it.
Entering the girls’ dorm rooms during the room competition is not a big deal to Kirishima either. The girls’ rooms aren’t any more special than the guys’ dorms, even though some of his male classmates may think that way. (Funny enough, Kirishima doesn’t make any comments about the girls’ rooms during the entire room competition. He seems more interested in the guys’ rooms if anything.)
I know some people like to use the bathhouse scene as a reason for why Kirishima may be interested in girls.
“He’s blushing. That means he’s straight.” Yeah, he’s blushing. It’d be weirder if he is completely unfazed by the thought of naked girls. As a guy, he’s not used to female nudity, and the thought of being a voyeur on the girls sounds really embarrassing and wrong. Characters blush at nudity all the time regardless of gender or sexual orientation. Jirou blushed around Momo’s, Hagakure’s, and Mirio’s nudity. Everyone, guy or girl, blushed at Midnight’s risqué hero costume in the anime. Nudity is embarrassing. Okay? XD Kirishima looks scared and looks like he wants nothing to do with this, which makes sense considering he’s close to Kaminari but doesn’t join in on his and Mineta’s activities when it comes to girls, even though Kirishima is often in the same room as them.
Kirishima also doesn’t seem to like Mineta since Kirisihima almost never talks to him, and the only time he does talk to him, it’s this comment.
Midoriya seems to tolerate Mineta’s perverted attitude since they’re friends and seem to get along. Kirishima doesn’t seem to want anything to do with Mineta. A lot of this would have to do with Mineta and Kirishima having very different attitudes towards girls, with Mineta having uncontrollable sexual attraction to girls and Kirishima treating girls like they’re his friends, which they are his friends.
Yeah, you mentioned Kirishima’s reaction to Momo’s boobs being squished by the alleyway walls, and I find the moment amusing.
You’re right. In most situations, if a guy is right next to a girl who is talking about her boobs, the guy would normally blush. Kirishima looks shocked and horrified. Instead of thinking something perverted, he’s probably thinking, “Oh no, is she talking about what I think she’s talking about? Should I respond to this? How should I respond to this?” Girls talking about their boobs, especially around guys, is kind of weird. Kirishima is at a loss for words rather than embarrassed. It’s a funny moment. I don’t think it’s anything to noteworthy. It is weird he’s not blushing because most guys would blush in boob-related situations.
As you have mentioned, the manga does show instances where Kirishima just doesn’t seem interested in girls.
He’s one of the guys who’s shown not being interested in entering the girls’ dorm rooms or invested in impressing the girls.
He appears exasperated by Kaminari flirting with Mei.
He ignores Kaminari, Mineta, Midoriya, and Sero’s girl shenanigans.
You’re right. These moments happen in more recent chapters. Horikoshi seems to be making a point that Kirishima has opportunities to act interested in girls, but he doesn’t. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s gay. That simply means Kirishima isn’t interested in girls outside of a platonic light. He’s not one of those guys who finds girls appealing. That could mean he’s gay. It could mean he’s anything. Girls don’t faze Kirishima as much as they faze the other guys. He’s pretty chill when it comes to them and would rather avoid situations that involve oogling at them.
That’s my interpretation. It is funny how the chapters after Bakugou’s kidnapping are making a point to show Kirishima’s disinterest in girls. That may be a coincidence or it may be because Kirishima has way more important things to focus on. He could have feelings for Bakugou. If he does, he’s not making a big deal about them and is more focused on pushing himself as a hero. Kirisihima’s stance on girls seems to be similar to Bakugou’s. Girls just because they’re girls are not that appealing, and it’s better to focus on other things.
Sorry, if my answer is vague. The manga is pretty ambiguous itself. Romance is almost non-existent in Boku no Hero Academia, so it’s difficult to take a stance on a character’s romantic preference. I’m sure Bakugou and Kirishima’s relationship will get more development. It feels close to canon as anything since there is almost no romance in Boku no Hero academia.
