I did this so much as a kid. there was no other way they would listen and understand I was mad or upset. there was no other way I could think of to protect myself or just explain how unsafe I feel.
can we stop mocking people who hissed at others/bared their teeth as a warning in their childhood years? itās not funny to call them freaks. i did that. because nothing else was EVER. respected. i could tell them to stop and they wouldnāt, literally only hissing/trying to bite got ANY freedom.
and guess what! iām autistic. i didnāt learn theĀ āproperā ways to respond to things until much later. and a lot of kids who do that are neurodivergent and have NEVER been given respect. you mocking them isnāt gonna help shit all.
next time you think of it as cringey, maybe take a step back and think about what youāve done to earn a reaction like that. because reactions like that are used to express fear and discomfort in animals. and you probably havenāt listened to ANY of the signs before that.
