My brother added on to my prediction with his own prediction: In the season finale, Steve will be a badass and save the day

But that like actually has merit. Cause in Old Oak Doors, Steve was the one that pushed Kevin into the DOW for saying he could "fix" Janice. He kinda single-handedly saved the day right there

So, June 15th 2024, Steve will do another badass heroic thing

Y'all remember Carlos saying at the end of last season that he was gonna go back to the DOW? That there's "still so much to learn about that place"?

And how he has a portal in the lab? How Kevin used that portal to come through and fight Boy Kevin? How there's now a sign saying "DO NOT ENTER PORTAL" so nobody could possibly go through it?

How Year 11 was a sort of alternate Year 1, with a new scientist trying to explain everything? And Year 12 being very similar to Year 2 with all its Kevin/Strex talk? The very beginnings of Cecil lore dropping with Cassette and The Auction? (A Story About You and A Story About Them are Year 1 and 2 as well)

How did Year 2 end? With Carlos getting trapped in the DOW for a year, and Cecil falling back into alcoholism to deal with the loneliness as well as being puppeted to fight Hiram and FOW.

And now, with a son and visions of his father that won't go away but also won't stick, what will he do if Carlos leaves again?

The new episode brings back up the question, what is Cecil's full name?

Most of us assume Gershwin is his middle name, but there's always been confusion on if it's actually a hyphenated last name (Gershwin-Palmer)

On the WTNV site you can find a list of character names and how they're spelled, and it's not hyphenated there

But if you search through the scripts, it's a mixed bag

Yes, he is more often referred to as Cecil Gershwin Palmer, but it's always when he refers to himself (33, 65, 127, 182, 206)

Wheras, others always refer to him as Gershwin-Palmer. Lubelle in 225 calls him "Mr. Gershwin-Palmer" twice, Sara Iyer of the Purrrcast in 190 receives an email from "Cecil Gershwin-Palmer", and Station Management in 217 address a memo to "Cecil Gershwin-Palmer"

The only outlier is when Cecil himself is naming Khoshekh in 159 "Khoshekh Gershwin-Palmer", which is where this whole debate even started I believe

But, now with Esteban referring to Cecil's father as "Grampa Gershwin", the issue has been dug back up

Could it be because Cecil seems to not be mentally able to retain any information on his father, that he just assumes Gershwin is his middle name? Perhaps he 'accidentally' writes a hyphen on any important documents like the cat show entry forms or an inquiring email to a podcast? Or perhaps it's still up to viewer interpretation, like most of the show

Hello sandstorm theorizing friend! May I ramble with you?

Can we really be certain there is a Young Cecil as well? I don't think so. We don't know how this Young Kevin came to be, out of his place in the timeline and in Night Vale without his memory intact.

Kevin has every reason to want redo the timeline of his life. Strex put him through hell (I'd say the Smiling God did too, but I don't think he knows that) and he is irrevocably changed (hollow eyes, gaping jaws, fucked work/life balance).

Would Cecil have similar reasons? His trauma centers around his family (neglectful mother, absent father), he can't exactly change that. The only thing he could realistically do is remember to buy himself at auction.

Kevin's timeline was fucked the moment the sandstorm happened. Or perhaps when Cecil told pre-Strex Kevin about Night Vale during Triptych. I'm constantly thinking about how he finally got his year 1 moment with Charles only when he was a safe distance from Strex, and that it only took a month and a half (well, I guess that's a little over a year in normal time)

so kid kevin (i’m still working out a fun name to distinguish the two) is a younger double of old kevin? at least from what i understand

and he wants to go to the desert otherworld to, you know, kill his double.

so because there is a kid kevin double in night vale and everyone in night vale has a desert bluffs (too) counterpart (and vice versa), could that possibly be implying that there is a kid cecil in desert bluffs too with old kevin and lauren???

but what confuses me about this is do they have the same motives (to kill their older doubles)? bc kid kevin thinks there should only be one kevin and im not entirely sure if this is entirely his (or his older doubles) thought process or if he is corrupted by the joyous congregation in some way shape or form.

but that leads me to my next question: if kid cecil exists and is living in desert bluffs too, does he have the same morals as old cecil? or has living in desert bluffs too corrupted him under the joyous congregation, leading him to want to kill his double as well?

if this is true, i’m wondering if it will be a sandstorm situation and there will be similar episodes to he is holding a knife (240) and he is still holding a knife (241) but from old kevin/desert bluffs too perspective

anyway i have no one to yap about this with so im hoping this reaches the right audience 😋
