scattered & unhelpful updates to distract me from the fact I am Not At All Ready

1 bc I've been asked more than once: it's not a sun on the cover bc the sun & moon motif is yalls thing. it'd feel weird to me if I stole it when I don't have any attachment to it

2 I would've rather overturned years-old lore than write something I couldn't believe in. I have zero regrets about sticking to the original plans of the EC, & I hope we are all happy with where this goes

3 there'll probably be at least two posts on Saturday: one with the pics from LA and one that's a cry for help. if yall notice any glaring typos in TSC that we missed during edits and don't mind sharing 'em, pls leave 'em on that second post. I'll leave it up for about a week, and then I'll edit the digital version one last time (I think all ebook sites allow a free download of an updated file?) and will reformat the book for print.

4 once those posts are up, both tumblr & twitter will slide into updates-only mode until TSC2 is out at the very least. sorry not sorry to throw a book at you & run, but I want to avoid too much outside influence & make sure the story I'm telling stays mine <3 <3

i don't about you, but Nora herself is actually such an interesting human being to me.

aside from her literally creating aftg universe ( i mean, someone having this ideas, making this characters, back stories, everything, someone putting pieces of their soul into some ink made to a character, is like another whole subject to be talked about and cherished) but her in person, how hard she's trying to keep the story real, to keep it hers, to connect with her character and bring that real connection and feeling into the book, feelings and actions and decisions and stuff that actually means something to her and her alone who gave life to these characters and carries them with her like we all do but like, in much more intensity and reality.

barely gets influenced by things fans are trying to force to her to put in the book,

is actually under hella pressure but still doesn't back up cause it's her journey and she wants to keep it going. i mean, i barely thing there's a 4th book because us fans wanted it??? i may be wrong but i kinda know it's because she wanted it to be a 4th book. because she actually cares about jean. because he's hers.

anyway EVERYBODY MIND UR OWN BUSINESS TILL THE BOOK IS OUT.

I've read like, billions of aftg fanfics, and at the end, the actual version always has it better, so yeah bye.

Yall need to stop saying aftg is poorly written because I can only hope that one day I can write something as beautiful and impactful on people as all for the game

You can fight me on this, IDGAF, but "I'm not talking about killing Penguin, or Scarecrow, or Dent, I'm talking about him. Just him. And doing it because... because he took me away from you." is one of DC's most perfectly crafted short monologues ever. It sums up a whole character in a few, simple lines. It sums up Jason's motives, hopes, and pain.

i think it is important to recognize the ways in which your favorite thing sucks. i think it keeps u normal

Jason has reverse plot armor, his writers hate him so much they can't wait for a opportunity to beat him up despite him having every stat necessary for winning

ok i know we're all fans of the whole 'jason's comms are off for a minute and everyone freaks out' idea.

but consider, everyone is so used to jason going completely off the radar for extended periods of time (either because of missions or just. him not wanting to talk to anyone), so when he's actually in a hostage situation/kidnapped, it takes for a ransom deal to be sent for anyone to even consider the possibility of him being in trouble.

like, batman comes across a letter addressed to him on patrol, explaining that they've got red hood captive + are torturing him slowly to death as they speak. bruce just makes a mental note of it for later.

bruce: "dick, can you go check on your brother at some point tomorrow?"

dick: "but you know how he gets when we go round snooping for him when he doesn't want to be found"

bruce: "yes, but there are people claiming to have him hostage, and although i'm sure he's fine, i just want to cover my bases."

(he was in fact, not fine)

Jason turns off his devices mid patrol and pretends to be dead again for april fool's one time and Bruce has a mental breakdown so bad, Jason has to come clean immediately.
