Whumpees who are chronically disconnected from their body. Whumpees who get asked if their pain is sharp or dull and literally don’t know the answer. Whumpee who doesn’t notice they’re cold until someone points out they’re shaking. Whumpee who doesn’t notice they’re hungry until they black out from standing up too fast. Whumpee who genuinely can’t tell when they’re over exerting themself because it all feels the same. It’s not that they don’t feel pain, it’s that they’ve learned to see pain as something constant and unavoidable, not something to be fixed, and they can’t distinguish between different kinds of pain anymore. They’ve learned to ignore the signals from their body while they were powerless, and now that they can prevent or fix pain they still aren’t attuned enough to their body to know how.
Just… whumpees who learned dissociation as a coping skill and now have to unlearn it. Whumpees who deeply benefited from being disconnected until they were safe, making it that much harder to unlearn

i am absolutely baffled at the fact that i can say 'i think we should stop killing innocent people and have a ceasefire' and people would look at me dead-ass in the eyes and say "you're antisemitic and a terrorist" unironically.

THIS MORNING: (note, the name in the tweet is incorrect, the name on the video is correct) noëlle mcafee, the emory philosophy department chair who was arrested yesterday, did an interview speaking about her experience. she explained that she wasn't even protesting, she was a legal observer who just wanted to see what the students were doing. noëlle stated that just moments after she started observing, police moved in on protesters and almost immediately started attacking them with tear gas & rubber bullets. saying that she saw 3-4 police officers brutalizing one single student, and when she tried to stay and record/be a witness they told her to leave and when she didn't they arrested her. it should be raising alarms for everyone that police are not only arresting protesters en masse, but arresting journalists and now any legal observer documenting their violence with impunity.

People are sometimes so quick to forgive historical figures with the argument of them being a “product of their times” and saying we know better now. So like. Where are the people who know better now? They certainly aren’t in our governments, because if we knew better Israel wouldn’t be committing genocide with the support of multiple world leaders. This is no different from the displacement and genocide of the Native American people, the Inuit, the Aboriginal Australians—I could literally go on and on. The only difference between us and our ancestors is that our weapons of mass destruction are more effective.

ONE HOUR AGO: our comrades at sciences po paris have occupied a building and the area around it in solidarity with palestine! this comes just two days after police broke up their solidarity encampment. **note, for some reason all the tweets about this are just calling it "elite paris university" that is not the name of a school in paris. sciences po is considered an elite university, but it should be made clear that europe news outlets are reporting this is specifically at sciences po.

how to make an informational flyer for palestine: a quick guide
-choose a specific cause or resource to support. this can be a certain organization, evacuation fundraiser, etc
-type up a flyer with information about it
-make sure it fits on one page and isn’t cluttered
-make the title bigger than you think you need to
-add an image to make the flyer eye-catching. it doesn’t have to be in color
-if necessary, add a qr code. you can use adobe to make a free qr code that doesn’t expire! if you want a qr code you can track, you can use qr-code-generator.com, but be aware that it will expire after the free trial is over
-print one mock-up flyer to make sure it turned out how you expected! if it has a qr code, scan it to make sure it works. if anything needs changing, make necessary edits and print out another mock-up. once you have something you’re satisfied with, you can print a whole batch
-stay safe when putting up flyers! depending on where you live, you may need to avoid crowds or cameras
-be aware that you will probably have to replace flyers that have been removed or vandalized
-if you’re comfortable doing so, put your flyer on tumblr so other people can download it :)
existing flyers:
informational flyer about how to donate food and supplies to north gaza
informational flyer about how to donate esims
informational flyer about how israel targets palestinian children
informational flyer about the bombing in rafah
collection of art flyers in support of palestine (not informational)

shoutout to slow growers, late bloomers, people whose plans got derailed by circumstances beyond their control or their own choices, people who never had a plan to begin with, people who have had to start over when theyre too old to feel like theyre supposed to be where they are, people who cant pretend theyre built for the environment theyre in, and everyone who's not living the life they thought they would. im proud of you for making it this far and i hope you keep going until youre happy ♡

It's amazing how differently people treat you based on what mobility aid you're using. When I'm using my cane I get funny looks from people because I'm a young person and "do you really need that?". Almost nobody holds the door for for me and when I drop something almost nobody helps me pick it up.
When I'm using my forearm crutches people are a little nicer but not by much. I get less funny looks and more people hold the door for me, but still hardly anyone helps me pick up stuff I drop. And if I'm out alone shopping or something, nobody helps me reach stuff on high shelves unless I ask. I get not wanting to come off as ableist by offering to help, but if you see someone clearly struggling you might want to step in.
Now when I'm using my wheelchair, that's a whole different ballgame. Almost everyone is holding doors, helping me pick up stuff, helping me with high shelves, and being really nice to me. But people often infantilize me when I'm using a wheelchair. They always smile at me, which sounds nice, but it's usually in a way you would smile at a little kid out in public. If I'm with someone then people will talk to them instead of me, and if I'm alone people will talk slowly to me or in a high pitched voice.
It's literally not that hard to be normal around disabled people I just don't get it.
