finally watched Lisa Frankenstein today and I while I loved the concept because there's nothing I love more than the 80s, Frankenstein, crazy women, and transexuals, I think there were some things that could've been better:
The soundtrack: it wasn't catchy enough. My favourite thing about these sort of films that are either from the 80s or set during the 80s is a good banging soundtrack, like Fright Night (1985) or Donnie Darko. Imo it could've used some Oingo Boingo and Siouxie and The Banshees songs, at least. Depeche Mode would've probably worked too. I even expected some The Smiths, but no dice.
The comedy bits, they didn't really land for me.
More gore!!!
The creature should've stayed blackened with rot for the whole film (though my interpretation is that he never really becomes more human as the film goes on — Lisa just stops seeing him as a creature as she falls in love with him)
Things I loved very much, with no notes:
TRANSGENDER CREATURE!!!!!!!
cole sprouse has no lines for most of the film, which I thought was incredibly funny. And it added an interesting depth to the creature and Lisa's relationship.

As a wheelchair user I'm trying to reframe my language for "being in the way."
"I'm in the way," "I can't fit," and "I can't go there," is becoming "there's not enough space," "the walkway is too narrow," and "that place isn't accessible."
It's a small change, but to me it feels as if I'm redirecting blame from myself to the people that made these places inaccessible in the first place. I don't want people to just think that they're helping me, I want them to think that they're making up for someone else's wrongdoing. I want them to remember every time I've needed help as something someone else caused.
