I was wondering about that before too. I do think that tattoos will hold a similar place in the story as the Leitners did but I think Ink5ouls relationship to them isn't the same.

Are these tattoos the new fucking Leitner books? Is there a pathetic moldy sandwich of a man out there who tattoos people with fears instead of printing them now? Can I kick him? Can we have a second pipe murder anniversary?

These are all equally important questions and I think we deserve answers to all of them

Imagine you’re some little evil woman sitting in Hades’ throne room when Orpheus walks in to make a deal to get Eurydice back, and Hades is like “yeah ok, just don’t look back otherwise she has to stay here” then walks out of the room. Almost immediately after hearing the conditions, Orpheus breaks his own neck so that is is physically impossible for him to turn it, and then demands that you gouge out his eyes for good measure.  Eurydice then gets really upset because she’s convinced this is a sign that Orpheus hates her and never wants to see her again, and Orpheus is completely convinced that this was a normal and logical thing to do.

So many people see Martin's mask/persona of generally helpful guy who just makes tea and wants everyone to get along and don't see the person he is underneath that. It's what makes people continue to underestimate him and why he was able to continually catch people off guard. I wish more people saw that.

ok, i have finally gotten to season 5, and i have got to say one thing. this fanbase infantilizes martin to Hell and back and i do NOT understand how you can do it if you finished this damn podcast, i understand hes very sweet and he has a really cute voice but from 165 to 175 i think i have heard him pretty cheerfully ask jon to kill people about twice per episode on average,

I think everyone is missing the point here. The fears are not different, they are exactly the same. They haven't turned into desires all of a sudden or anything.

We are seeing them through different lenses.

These "incidents" are not being recounted in full detail against their will, they are being heard as they are happening. The forum with redcanary, the blog, the 999 call with Needles, hell even the letter Augustus read. These are just random things that happened that we happen to know go deeper than the rest. But you have to remember, the OIAR is sorting through so many cases like these.

They are NOT different. The Fears remain as they always have been. They are not suddenly desires; they were always desired by some. It's important to remember that. So stop trying to see them as something different. You'll understand so much better.

After seeing how ready Sam was to fill out the response paperwork I really have to wonder if him checking that box was as accidental as he made it out to be.

okay, but imagine if Colin from tmagp and Jon from tma fought. like, street fight style. just a sleep deprived academic against a sleep deprived IT guy. who would win?

I'm thinking our pov may be Fr3-d1 or at least the program that feeds the statements into it. So far it seems to be able to get into emails and private video calls so it can probably pick up cameras and cell phones too.

I somehow haven't seen anyone talking about it, but what is our point of view in tmagp exactly?

In tma it was the tapes obviously, in tmagp by the sound of the system powering on and off it would be logical to assume we're listening through the office computers (ignoring the fact that most, especially older computers don't have a microphone built-in and I highly doubt the government would spend money on external ones if they're not necessary for the job), but that would only allow us to hear whatever's happening in the proximity of the haunted pcs. This wouldn't be ideal as it would tether us to this one specific location.

So perhaps more technology can potentially serve as our pov in the future? Of course that would include other computers and phones, but also things like security cameras and smart appliances. I know that new tech was unusable with the statements in tma, but it might not be entirely the same in tmagp.

And if we could listen through other devices, would it be possible for Martin to cut into a podcast Alice was listening to with a spooky story? Could Jon interrupt the morning news to give Sam the latest update on spelunking progress in the ruins of the Magnus Institute? Just imagine Gwen trying to eat breakfast while her toaster is describing how it feels to rot from the inside in a stupidly pretentious voice, that may or may not belong to Jonah.

Something something Jon's job being To Watch from the beginning and Sam's to deliberately ignore. Being molded into a monster by someone else versus destroying yourself on your own accord. A warning that only keeps the cycle repeating. Curiosity might (have) kill(ed) the cat in both situations but there's a difference between being made and making.

I just realized the Great Twisting ritual that created/changed Michael into the spiral being we knew didn't happen until well after the institute burned down in this timeliness. I don't think we'll ever get that Michael back but we could still get him as a regular guy who has been introduced to an entirely different horror.

I kind of saw it as a sort of Dorian Gray situation where whatever she did to the portrait happened to herself but I hadn't considered if she made a portrait of someone else. Given that the tattoo was a brush and not an easel or the likes I could see possibly being able to do it to someone else given time.

I wonder if Ink5oul and their tattoos are going to be like Leitner and his books. Obviously the tattoos are much more personalized and direct than the books but they do seem to have the potential to pop back up again the way his library did.
