People can say whatever they want about who I am and the labels I apply to myself at this point. I just don’t care anymore.

2023 has been a fantastic year of self-acceptance overall for me, and I’m finally embracing that I don’t have to do things “the right way”, I can just do things my way. The way things in my life were always supposed to be.

From feeling like I wasn’t supposed to be polykin, to feeling like I wasn’t supposed to voluntarily identify as any nonhuman things (otherlink) and my involuntary kintypes were the only ones that “mattered”, to feeling like I can’t have more than a certain amount of xenogender labels… I’m just done. I just don’t care anymore.

My journey officially started when I began posting to this blog. Back then, I was starting to accept myself more, but I was still very fearful and still living by other people’s rules. Other people’s thresholds for the validity of my identity and life. How dumb is that?

Well, I’m doing whatever I want now and no amount of people telling me I’m invalid is going to stop me. People always say “be yourself” until it’s something they personally dislike, and I’ve realized that now. This is my life! Not yours! It’s about damn time I fully embrace that.

When I was a kid and I used to go to school, in kindergarten through the first grade, some of the kids in my classes could be so rude about me stimming.

I stim the absolute most when I'm proud of myself and it's always been that way, which can be reallyyyy embarrassing because it broadcasts to others whenever I feel a sense of accomplishment, and sometimes it's over the smallest/silliest things!

But anyways, I bring that up because I have memories of me drawing in my classrooms, feeling proud of something I did on the drawing, and tilting my head and twisting my hands/fingers, like I always did (and maybe still do sometimes, but I can't tell when I do it because it's so involuntary, I genuinely don't know or notice).

Thankfully, most kids in my class didn't seem to pay it any mind, but every now and then, I'd get that soul-crushing comment of "What are you doing with your hands?" or "Why are you doing that?" in the most judgmental tone you can imagine.

After my parents took me out of school and I began online school at home instead, my classmates' comments stuck with me and I tried very hard to control my stims for years. I even cried one night to my parents when I was 9 or 10 about how I hated that I "move my hands a lot".

Needless to say, trying to control and suppress my stims didn't work, and I only developed more as the years went by. Difference now is, I'm much more accepting of them as an adult than I was as a kid.

Went to see Hocus Pocus last night! c: I meant to bring one of my stuffies but I was in a rush while getting ready so he stayed behind. :’)

A few days ago, I also went to see Coraline (which I did bring a stuffie to lol)! I’ll be sure to take the little guy on a walk since he missed out on the movie last night. <3

“-panion” is a gender suffix coined for and used by POSIC+ companions! Many beholders report their companions experiencing gender in an unconventional way, so -panion genders are an attempt to describe those experiences.
