"I know. I know you too well." Ana laughed and then listened to what she was saying. "I can't say I know about the general stuff. But when it comes to work, I know that feeling. I'm just glad for the time off I have now."
"You have a point there." Waverly smiled, knowing she had put herself in similar situations in the past, many times she had said she looked like hell with others agreeing with her. "I'm afraid to say that I would definitely laugh at the look you gave them. Some work, some just general stuff. Not a big deal."

"It was. But I can kind of see why they might have thought it was alright as I said it myself." Ana pointed out. "I can just see you there now. Shocked by their reply, but laughing at the look on my face." Ana listed to her. "With work?" She asked.
The teacher smiled, shaking her head at the story, some people really didn't know what to keep quiet. "Well, that was rude of them. I can definitely imagine the look on your face." Waverly had seen it on others many times. "Fine is good, it's better than bad. I'm okay. Been a long week."

Ana looked at her. She couldn't help but laugh a little at the look she had on her face as if she was wondering if she had said the right thing. "Thank you. I kind of mumbled that to myself the other day when I was sat down at the park, and someone agreed. You should have seen the look I gave him." She told her. "I'm doing fine, thank you. As good as I can be. How are you doing?"

Jordan smiled at her and shrugged. “Can’t let you go through this alone, can I?” She told her before she quickly moved to time her friends contraction. When Ana’s pain passed, she’d make a quick call to whoever was in charge of the ER during the day, give them some time to find someone to take over her shift for the evening.
Ana held on to her hand and finally nodded when she had heard what Jordan had said. “Well, their father didn’t seem to think like that.” She told her. She watched her make the phone call. “Thank you. I...don’t know what else to say besides thank you for being here.”

“Well, I’m glad I was here for you.” Jordan told her with a smile, happy that she could help ease her friends worry somewhat. “My shift starts at six but I’m going to take the evening off. I want to be there for you if you’d like me to. I can always run down to the ER if they’re in a bind but otherwise, I’m all yours.”
Ana looked at her as she said when her shift started but that she would take the evening off. She didn’t want her to take the time off for her but she knew that she probably wouldn’t be able to convince her otherwise. “Thank you.” Ana replied. She smiled at her before it disappeared as she grabbed her hand.

“Then we still would’ve gotten you here once I arrived.” She told her, glad she could be here to help her friend, relieved that she wasn’t on shift just yet, she’d be taking the night off unless Ana told her to leave. “It’s what I’m here for.”
“No really, I really think I would have. I was terrified there because I thought you wouldn’t have heard me and I was so scared about trying to go the rest of the way.“ Ana said, laughing a little. It was funny now, but it wasn’t when it happened. Ana smiled at her. “When do you start work?“ She asked her.

Jordan smiled at her. “Well, even if I hadn’t been here, all you’d have to do was call or text and I’d have come running.” She promised, her arm wrapping around her friend as Ana leaned against her. “You’re doing great.”
“Yes, but I think I probably would have still been on the stairs when you got here.“ Ana joked. She felt calmer when Jordan wrapped her arm around her. As the pain eased, she sat up a bit. She looked at her. “Thank you.”

Jordan nodded, she hadn’t been through it herself, almost had but that was a story for another time if ever.
“Good. It’s good to keep you comfortable.” She explained, trying to remember everything she had learned during her rotation in Obstetrics. As Ana gripped her hand, she quickly set off her timing, knowing it would be important. “Labour can vary for each person. Patients are usually told wait until contractions are five minutes apart before heading in. But if you want to go sooner, we will. I’ll make sure they admit you.”
Ana nodded. “I am so glad you were here.” She said. “At least you have had some training in all this. I can only imagine if I had only my neighbours for help and they only had experience in....something else.” She tried to joke though the pain.  She leaned on her. “I will let you know when I think we should go.”

Jordan nodded, pulling her phone out of her pocket and bringing up her timer app for if Ana told her about any more contractions.
“Just let me know, we’ll do what you want to do here, I’m here to hold your hand and give you a ride, anything else is what you decide, promise.”
Ana watched as she did this. She didn’t know why she hadn’t thought about that. Her phone was nearby. She was thankful that Jordan had thought of that though.
She listened and nodded her head. “Okay.” She said. “I am fine being here right now.” She told her. “Although....this is the first time for me. I don’t know when the right time is.” Ana pointed out, before gripping her hand. “How long is this going to go on for?” She managed to say through the pain.

She was relieved that Ana trusted her to help her. Jordan ran upstairs to grab her bag, double checking that a phone charger was in there cause she knew other friends had mentioned taking one with them.
Returning downstairs, she sat beside her friend, offering her her hand should she decide she wanted it. “We’re close to the hospital so no matter what, we’ve got time.”
Ana heard her go back up the stairs. She wanted to get comfortable but right now, that wasn’t happening. She was just trying to focus on what she needed to do right now.
When Jordan came back into the room, she smiled up at her. Well, a bit of a smile. As she offered her hand, Ana took a hold of it. “I know.” She said. “I don’t think we need to go yet. But I will let you know.”

“Okay, I’m going to get you to the couch, we’ll sit for a bit, time your contractions and then figure out if we need to go right away.” Jordan told her calmly as she helped her friend down the stairs and over to the couch. “I’ll go get your bag. Do you need anything else?”
Listening to Jordan, she nodded. She knew that they didn’t need to leave just yet. And if anyone knew, it was going to be Jordan being a doctor. Holding on to her hand, she made her way over to the couch with her. “I don’t think so.” Ana told her. Right now, she had no idea.

The doctor nodding, holding her hand out for Ana to take. “Okay, has your water broken? How far apart are your contractions?” Jordan had to ask, she didn’t want to get her friend to the hospital just for maternity to tell them it was too soon to check her in. “You got a bag packed?”
Ana took a hold of her hand. “Yes. And I am not sure. But they are not close yet.” She said. Thing is, she hadn’t done this before so of course she panicked to start with. Hearing her ask about a bag, she nodded. “Its in my room.”

Jordan knew she needed the sleep when she had fallen asleep so quickly, and slept for quite a few hours. She woke with a start when she heard Ana call her name, moving quickly to get to her friend. “What’s wrong? I’m here!” She asked, switching into doctor mode without a thought.
Hearing Jordan getting up, she was relieved. She could have easily have been in a deep sleep. When she asked her what was wrong, Ana looked up at her. “Lets just say I was coming down the stairs when....” She pointed down towards her stomach. “I think I need to get to the hospital.” She said before gripping hold of the hand rail.

“You’re the greatest.” Jordan mumbled tiredly, appreciating her friend being so willing to allow her to take a nap now, it would be safer than trying to drive home in her current state. With a quick smile at Ana, the doctor closed her eyes, falling asleep quickly.
“No, I’m not.“ She said and smiled at her. She noticed her fall asleep pretty quickly. Ana tidied up a bit and then went for a lie down. She had no idea how long she had been asleep, but the nap had helped. She lay there and listened. She couldn’t hear any movement so she guessed Jordan was still asleep. Ana got off the bed. She was halfway down the stairs when she realized what had happened. She didn’t want to wake Jordan up but she didn’t have any other choice. “Jordan.“ She called out.

Jordan nodded with a yawn, her eyes closing without her permission. “You wanna nap at my place, we’re good. Mind if I just snooze for a bit? I don’t want to drive until I’m at least a little more awake.”
Ana looked at her when she said this to her. “Are you sure?” She asked. She was more tired than she had realized.a Hearing her ask if she could, she nodded. “Go ahead. I can understand that you are quite exhausted.”
