I think the reason a lot of leftists struggle with disability justice is that they haven't moved past the concept that discrimination isn't bad because it's objectively "wrong." yes, sexists are objectively wrong when they try to claim women are dumber than men. yes, antisemites are objectively wrong that jewish people are inherently greedy and run the state. yes, racists are wrong when they try to claim that white people are the superior race. and so on.

but then with disabled people, there are a lot of objective truths to the discrimination we face. people with IDs/LDs do fall behind and struggle with certain concepts. physically disabled people are often weaker and less capable of performing demanding tasks than able bodied people. many of us with mental illnesses are more reckless and less responsible. a lot of us are dependent on others and do not contribute much "worth".

and guess what? disabled people still deserve a place in the world. disabled people still deserve the supports they need. because they are people, and that should be enough to support them and believe they deserve a place at the table.

if your only rebuttal against discrimination is its objective inaccuracies, you are meeting bigots where they are at. you are validating the very concept that if and when people are truly incapable of being equal to the majority, that means they are worth less. this causes some leftists to then try to deny the objective realities of disabled people and/or become ableist themselves.

your rallying behind marginalized groups should start and end with the fact that people are completely worthy of life and equity, because they are fellow human beings and that should, frankly, be enough.

That the United States essentially lays sole claim to "proper" revolution and the legacy thereof (always insinuating that other nations like Haiti, France, or Revolutionary Russia "did it wrong") whilst very deliberately suppressing any meaningful education on revolutionary thought and history, with concerted efforts at the systemic level to make sure that all knowledge of figures like Stokely Carmichael or Eugene Debs is eradicated entirely, MLK being reduced to a "peace and love" teddy bear with a dream, Rosa Parks as an "old woman who was just tired", and Malcolm X being universally taught as "the one who went evil".

That said suppression of every form of meaningful education on the topic of America's revolutionary legacy also includes selective narratives surrounding America's own founders; these founders are whitewashed constantly to only be revolutionary in setting up America, and staunchly conservative yes-men who would be and are totally okay with every act of tyranny done by the current system in all other cases, because in modern American culture the founders are not real historic men with well documented ideas and ideals, but instead mere props and figureheads meant to be invoked in order to rubber stamp everything done by the current political parties. Political parties, that, by the way, said founders did everything in their power to specifically avoid forming or empowering in the first place.

That the modern Neofascist Movement in American Right Wing Politics has somehow convinced a significant mass American proletariat that it is, in actuality, the oppressive force of the regime which represents TRUE revolution and therefore commands the complete adoration and unfailing loyalty of said proletariat.

The mental gymnastics the proles who make up the latter will do to stay convinced of the claims of the former so they don't have to have a reckoning with the abuses hurled at them daily.

Trump's possible pick for VP is a puppy killer so I absolutely hate her. Her reason was that it wasn't being trained fast enough or something.

Yeah, I know that I defended Lauren Boebert before for the actions she didn't even take when her neighbor accused her of killing her dog, but even the neighbor's version of what happened makes it justifiable.

Her story is that her husky got loose, got close to Boebert's goats and Boebert confused the dog for a wolf. And that's not even what happened! I hate her, but I do believe Boebert when she told her side of the story. Her story added up more. And again, even if it didn't I'd still take her side.

But this is different. There's not a single thing to justify murdering a puppy just because it wasn't becoming a hunting dog fast enough.

I can't believe somebody would brag about how heartless they are like this.
