I guess somewhere in my dreamscape, there are recycled book stores with niche comic collections, and there are fan published comics of Snufkin/the variety of Snufkins that originated from Japan. I never look inside them, but I do greedily pick up whatever ones I find to purchase and look at later. The art is always pretty.
Buckle up for last night's dream everypony. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was building a new branch of five people. Three slots had yet to be filled, and I only remember that two of their archetypes were 'The Alchemist' and 'The Detective' (fill in the blanks yourself, but my gut told me that Edward Elric was gonna break through the classic lit characters rule).
The two fellas who already made the cut? Out of everyone in the moomin lineup to be invited to The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? The Joxter and Muddler. One can only imagine how Moominpappa took the news.
Their first mission--of which I'm still unsure if it was relative to finding their other three colleagues--involved a real grizzly bear and an opossum furry.
Yes I am also dying to know more, but all my memory can give us is this dialogue:
Been watching The Backlog play the Snufkin game with his daughter and it is so sweet 😭 here's a few clips showing how she went from being afraid of the Groke to wishing she was with them 🥹💖

Reader letter that asks who’s who between Snorkmaiden, Mymble and Misabel. (Not sure how you’d mix them up, but whatever.)
The editor asked Tove Jansson herself on clarification on Mymble, which gives some new insight.
Directly translated:
Mymble appeared in the comic serial Moomin’s Winter Follies, where she fell in love with Mr Brisk. She is first mentioned in “The Exploits of Moominpappa” where her little sister My was born on midsummer eve. Mymble’s mom was also referred to as Mymble, a reason for unfortunate mixups, which it’s now too late to correct.
She’s a very friendly and messy lady who has disappeared completely nowadays since she left My in her eldest daughter Mymble’s care. There is reason to suspect that Little My’s father was the Joxter, Snufkin’s father, but I don’t think that My and Snufkin are more than halfsiblings.
Mymble (as in Mymble’s daughter) is carefree and feminine and very easily gets enamoured or enthusiastic.
With apologies for her slightly uncertain family tree and warm regards.
Tove Jansson
Takeaway:
- Joxter might be My’s dad, but probably not.
- Tove rightfully regretted naming two characters Mymble.
Updated the webpage with a comparison of the pictures that differ from the two different editions of Skurken i Muminhuset.
