guys i know we all talk abt how sally would react to percyās tattoo but like
what abt his scars from tartarusš
like could you imagine the last time you see your son yk heās got some cuts and scars but he doesnāt wear a shirt when heās swimming maybe he wears a muscle tee on occasion maybe sometimes on hot summer days when the AC doesnāt work he doesnāt really wear a shirt at all bc heās at home with his family and heās a teenager who gives af
then heās gone for like 7ish months and when he gets back suddenly everythingās different heās always covered up never really wanting to show off and you donāt really understand until heās sleeping on the couch and his shirts a little disheveled so you walk over to fix him up and put a blanket on him and maybe take a pic bc thatās your son and you notice smth pinky and puffy on his skin so you lift it up a little further and he has claw marks stab marks deep cuts everywhere
up until this point you leave everything up to him what he wants to tell you when he wants to tell you or even if he ever will tell you
he wakes up screaming having trouble breathing he sobs into your arms when you go to him room and even when he falls asleep at the dining room table while attempting to study he wakes up holding the closest pen to him like a sword
7 months of his life blipped away and this is how he comes back :( like thatās so sad

Underrated Percabeth moment. A reminder that Annabeth doesn't just tolerate Percy's humor, she loves him for it. At their most desperate, when they're close to death, when everything seems hopeless, he can still make her laugh.

annabeth taking the knife for percy was peak impulsiveness at that stage of their relationship. because up until this point of the series. if i'm remembering correctly. all of annabeth actions were calculated. even her stubborn actions had merit. but taking the knife? knowing he was invulnerable? but taking the knife? knowing that him watching you cry out in agony hurt him just the same if he had been stabbed? but taking the knife? and then lying on a cot in the glisten of the setting sun? vulnerable and slow? grounding him like he's the one who needed saving? like watching you bleed out is enough to kill him? and touching the small of his back brings him back to life? impulsiveness turned romantic. turned angst. turned 'all the words i didn't say but you heard them anyway'. don't talk to me.

Iāve got a stupid theory that Cardan is actually terrifying powerful as an high king.
I mean, Eldred was one of the most important and long lived king of Elfhame, and yet, most of his subjects were unaware of the strict bound between a king and the his reign.
At the coronation, the Folk were amazed by BUTTERFLIES.
In Cardanās first year of kingdom, he raised an island.
He constantly manipulated plants, the earth, and even changed the castle!
In TPT, he turns the ghost into a tree with half a thought.
And yet, he now hates to be deemed scary, so āhe leaves the fighting to his wifeā.
I hope this isnāt invalidating for our Queen Judeās strength, but for once, just once, Iād love to see Cardan going God mode defending/avenging her :)

Did anyone else notice how in the Prisonerās Throne Jude and Cardan seemed to be slightly different?
Not in a OOC way, butā¦ more like each other.
Jude is more talkative, and can now hold court better. Sheās better at formal dinners and even more sassy than she was, which is so typical of Cardan.
Cardan is more prone to violence.
He couldnāt even lift a sword properly, but now can fight even when injured?
When he thought Wren hurt Jude, he was 100% ready to fight her
I just- they grew as an old married couple.
Theyāre slowly turning into a single entity and IāM DYING FOR IT

Just finished a reread of TFOTA and this quote from Locke (of all people) stuck out to me.
"Do you love me enough to give me up? Do you love me enough to weep over me?"Jude finds the questions off putting and odd, which I don't blame her.
Flash forward to QoN: *Jude, willing to cut off snake Cardans head, not knowing what would happen, but knowing it would break her*
When she truly loved someone, she was willing to give them up, and weep over them.

What stuck out to me the most about The Prisoner's Throne was that the Duarte family is absolutely insane. Like, I already knew this. But it felt even more BATSHIT here.
Madoc killed Jude and Taryn's parents, raised them, tried to but his EIGHT YEAR OLD son on the throne as a puppet king, tried to depose his daughter from her throne and tie her to a snaky Cardan forever, stabbed Jude, was complicit in Wren, his future daughter in law's torture and imprisonment, and is still loved (twistedly) by his daughters and family. Taryn killed Locke, Oak's half brother, but the boy in question did not know about the relation. The Ghost, Taryn's lover, killed Liriope and almost Oak in the womb, and they didn't tell him that little detail until he was eighteen. Jude was Locke's lover as well and eventually helped her sister lie about her killing him. Oriana was Cardan's father's lover and pulled a baby Oak out of his mother's corpse. Vivi manipulated Heather at first and was (in the beginning) not concerned about her safety and care in Elfhame.
Its just. They are SO messed up and yet are still a weirdly loving and healthy (?) family.
Its just. Wow.

I will always accept the fact that Cardan has a tail and Oak has hooves. I refuse to pretend Cardan's tail and Oak's hooves dont exist.
They arent human. Theyre fae. Of course they have characteristics that arent human š. And no, its not disgusting.
To all the Cardan tail haters and Oak hoof haters:

The Prisoners Throne spoilers
The joy this paragraph gives me
What he notices most is how young Jude looks. She is young, but he can see a difference between her and Taryn. Perhaps it is only that Taryn has been to the mortal world more recently and has caught up to her years. "..." A moment later, he wonders if it was only the fancy of the moment that made him think that. But another part of him wonders if Jude is quite as mortal as she once was.
