How did no one before Hiccup ever look at dragons and didn't instantly think friend shaped.
Only one day left until the Lunar New Year, who should be the last dragon I draw?

Apologies if there are any issues with the Hawaiian-language phrasing, I just used Google Translate 😅

thinking about how hiccup holds his hand out to toothless and then closes his eyes and trusts toothless not to eat his hand and lets toothless choose whether or not he interacts and toothless hesitates for a bit before putting his face in hiccups hand and trusts him not to hurt him. and it is a consensual optional interaction based on mutual trust and understanding. and then the first line we hear after this scene is gobber saying "and with one twist, he took my hand and swallowed it whole" and the Parallels and the Themes and the Narratives im running in circles in my room

Thinking about Lilo & Stitch on its 20th anniversary and Pride Month and how it resonates with so many LGBT and neurodivergent people by just being completely, unabashedly accepting of its cast’s eccentricities and quirks
The series and spinoffs have a few hiccups here and there but for the most part? L&S showed understanding and compassion towards “weirdness” and embraced it in a way I think was actually rather uncommon at the time, there’s other media out there from that era that did similar (like The Addam’s Family for example), but L&S managed to touch on just how validating acceptance and understanding can be from a meta standpoint-its very narrative and story embraced and celebrated these characters’ strangeness in a way that we’re only seeing come into prominence now, and I think that’s incredible to realize
I’m rambling and haven’t eaten but it’s something I just realized

Today is the twentieth anniversary of Lilo & Stitch. 🌺👽
The original Disney animated film that started it all premiered at the Disney-owned El Capitan Theatre on June 16, 2002, where Disney fans first saw the funny, silly, charming, and heartwarming tale of the unlikely duo of a lonely little Hawaiian girl and a blue alien genetic experiment on the lam whom she adopts as her "dog". The film would go on to have its wide release across the United States five days later and would spawn a substantial franchise in the years since.
To honor this occasion, here are some pictures from the Lilo & Stitch premiere. (Images come from Lilo & Stitch Source [fr], WSB-TV of Cox Media Group, and mabroselvisworld.com [de].) Also, check out these lower-resolution images of the premiere from LaughingPlace.com (Wayback Machine link).
