Part a movie adaptation was never gonna do justice was how unhinged/out there Katniss' inner monologue was at times.

Been rereading Hunger games, and been enjoying it so far. So trying to draw something like "If the Hunger Games was a graphic novel" thing. Want to do more scenes from the book, especially scenes that didn't end up in the movie

okay I've been seeing people talk about how Snow got scared sh*tless when he heard Katniss sing the Hanging Tree in Mockingjay, which is true, but I haven't heard enough about how furious and terrified he must have been when he first heard Katniss sing to Rue, which is the same song Lucy Gray sang to Maude Ivory at the lake.

I forget if the Hanging Tree or the Meadow song was introduced first in TBOSAS, but that's the first song Snow heard. The first song of Lucy Gray's that Katniss somehow knew 64 years later. And she's not just humming it. She's singing it to Rue as she dies before covering her body in flowers.

And he must have known, in his bones, that Katniss was going to be the end of him. God, I love how the prequel explained why Snow was so blindsided and fixated with her instead of Coin.

Like? We know that Katniss and Lucy Gray are different people. They have different personalities and families. But to Snow, it really must have seemed like Lucy Gray came back to haunt him, and it started with Katniss singing Rue to sleep.

I love your works! I’m so grateful they are on the archives for us all to enjoy. You live your life and update if and when you feel the urge.

I’ve written Hayffie a lot, lol.

They sort of kinda made it semi canon in the movies I guess… although my hubby said that Hayffie kiss was more of a comfort/affectionate kiss than a romantic relationship one 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think you can ship anyone and see if other people accept and support the ship… some ships just make sense, I guess.

I can’t define a reason why I pair them together, but it certainly is a popular pairing in fanon.

Y’all ever realize that Peeta was the very first person outside her family to see and believe in Katniss’ skills and ability to win the games? Like he says he just wants to find a way to prove to the Gamemakers that he’s more than a piece in their games and that he wants his life to mean something? What do we see him doing during the games and the lead up to them? Propping up Katniss? Trying to help her beat the Careers? Fighting Cato so she can get away? Demanding she doesn’t go to the Cornucopia and die for the chance to save him? Katniss was Peeta’s way to prove his life meant something. Saving Katniss was Peeta’s version of not being a piece in someone else’s game because he saw her as a truly inspiring person who could and would and should win. Peeta’s version of showing the Capitol they didn’t own him was not giving in and fighting for his life but instead fighting for her’s.

Katniss finished her trading in town early for the day and decided to take a shortcut back to the Seam by walking by the slag heap next to the mine entrance. It wasn't unusual for her to see other kids from school here, one of the only places inside the fence away from the prying eyes of their parents or other adults.

So at first, Katniss didn't react when she saw two teenagers kissing against the base of the heap. The boy had his hands in the back pockets of her jeans as she leaned against him, her arms around his neck as they kissed. She ducked her head, trying to give them privacy, but right as she was walking past, she recognized the boys' shoes out of the corner of her eye.

She let out a light gasp and glanced up at the couple, the boys' blue eyes meeting hers, she'd recognize them anywhere: Peeta Mellark. She ducked her head again, her face bright red now, and practically ran home. She'd never spoken to him, never approached him, so she shouldn't feel anything other than mildly embarrassed over the interaction, should she? She tried to put the encounter out of her mind altogether, but as she lay awake that night she found tears on her face.
