at the risk of sounding like a raving lunatic, i think one of my favorite trekkie memes/posts is that one where someone comments on a screenshot of tos and asks if sulu is texting, because it PERFECTLY encapsulates star trek's strange little place at the intersection of pop culture and the tech world:
like listen... 55+ years ago a bunch of actors had to use a mix of existing habits and wild imagination to come up with what they felt would be believable movements and muscle-memory for someone using completely unbelievable tech a few hundred years in the future. like tv had less than ten channels and the screen was a foot across, and they had to go "ok how would someone who's used to a tiny wireless gadget with a screen hold it and use it? how would they talk to a computer? how would the computer sound when she talked back?"
and over half a century later our own tech has surpassed the clunky retrofuture gizmos in so many ways, no doubt inspired by it, that now someone two decades into the 21st century sees an actor in the 60s holding some tiny rectangular plastic prop in both hands and immediately recognizes it as "oh, sulu's texting!" now THAT is a called shot. hell, that's putting your money on a roulette wheel in a casino that hasn't been built yet. i LOVE it. it's so star trek. sulu is absolutely texting.

Putting the sloths near the dolphins was the biggest surprise of all. The dolphins are absolutely delighted with the sloths, and the sloths, normally very quiet animals, have been squeaking replies back to the dolphins for hours at a time. Who would have guessed these two species would be such a great match?

There's a lot of debate if Jed (actor dog from The Thing and a few other movies) was a wolfdog or not. He was said to be half wolf half malamute, but to me he looks too much like a dog to be half wolf. Sorry if you've been asked this question about him before, but what's your opinion on it?
He was a wolfdog! He’s was a low-content malamute mix, and a very talented boy! He does look like he’s got quite a bit of dog in him, so I wouldn’t say he’s mid content, but if he was he’d be on the lower side.

what movie was it, if I may? good luck sleeping (genuine)
It. Which, apparently isn’t even that scary but it was to me lol. I think people that grow up watching horror movies just aren’t that phased bc I’ve never seen an actual horror movie before and I was struggling through that thing. I didn’t have nightmares though!
#at least I can confirm for certain that I don’t like it#though the aesthetic of that movie was actually pretty good#the acting is great too#and I love the Beverly girl#the story was kind of#ehhh it was decent#I was just too scared to get emotionally connected tbh#the worst parts for me were the headless kid and all the part with Georgie in the cellar

oh I am never watching a horror movie again. that was the most stressful 2 hours of my life. fear is like actually physical pain bro why do people like this
#and apparently#it wasn’t even That Scary of a horror movie#thanks I’ll just sit here with my light on and door open#I only agreed so I could cuddle with my boyfriend and it was almost worth it for that but it will not be if I have nightmares#he’s literally sitting there dozing off while I’m about to have a physical heart attack#get out of here
