The theme of the blog is 🤷♀️
Been around since 2010, so there's no telling what you're going to see shared.
Enjoy my various obsessions!

I think Samuel Dalton Reich has altered my brain chemistry over the years to where I see potential clues everywhere but I have no idea what any of them could mean
hello, sexiest man alive committee? yes I'd love to nominate Lou Wilson and Brian Murphy for attempting to speed-write an actual in-universe 300-word essay in 5 minutes of real time as Fabian and Riz posing as Fabian with complete earnest and a 120 percent commitment. both this effort and the incredibly smooth hand-off in the middle of it was maybe the most attractive thing i've ever seen a man do
yes it's a dungeons and dragons show. don't put me on hold. hello
from dick jokes to cocktails, grant o'brien's friends are passionate about a lot of things, but the one thing they love above all else is correcting people. this is um, actually: almost true facts about grant anthony o'brien.
<theme music plays>
joining us on today's episode we have <three of grant's friends>, and joining us not as always from the fact-checker room we have grant anthony o'brien himself.

in front of me are a stack of incorrect statements, and it's up to you to find out what's wrong, buzz in, and correct me. if you do not start the statement with "um, actually..." I cannot give you the point, and someone else can buzz in and steal that answer from you
Takes like this are why I'll forever be a Suvi Defender™️.
Do I love & relate to Ame & Eursulon quite often? Absolutely. But, neither of them face the same scrutiny Suvi does at every action.
In the same vein of Brennan explaining that different generations see things through different lenses, I saw Eursulon's "she can be" as a way of acknowledging his sister's history with wizards while also recognizing Suvi's initial reaction to some of the greater spirits they've come across. Suvi is not unkind, but she can be judgy in unfamiliar circumstances. (A trait she's let down the longer she's around her old friends, but one that has served her well. In fact, some of the events that have caught them on their toes *might* have been avoided if her hackles had been a bit more raised 🤷♀️)
Suvi's defense and protection of her friends is definitely from a place of kindness, and her wariness towards said greater spirits isn't unfounded. She has a barrier protecting her from them that she's unaware of as her friends constantly charge into situations she doesn't understand in the name of these spirits.
In fact, when she starts to shit talk the spirits, it's *Steel* that reminds her to respect them. It's the Citadel foundation training that acknowledges the power of the spirits & and the futility of rage against them.
Suvi is both the girl who ran around with her friends for a summer while the uncertainty of the outside world loomed over her *and* the finely trained, headstrong wizard of the Citadel. She's a complex person who's had a lot of shit thrown at her for being like 19yrs old, and she's doing her best.
She comes from a place of privilege that affords her a bit of buffering for some of her behaviors, but that privilege came with a lot of loss & expectation in her young life, and I don't understand why she gets so much more shit from the listeners than Ame or Eursulon, who also make big swings based on their impulses and lived experiences.
In ep 24 "Knock Knock" I found this interaction between Kalaya and Eursulon so fascinating
Kalaya: You're a true friend of a wizard of the citadel?
Eursulon: Yes.
[...]
Kalaya: Is she kind?
Eursulon: She can be.
It felt like such a big sister thing to be cautious of this wizard and have concern for her little brother. A spirit in a world that can be unkind to wild ones such as themselves.
But more interesting than that was Eursulon's answer. "She can be." It could be interpreted as, sometimes she is kind and other times not. Which we have seen both from Suvi (wielding the power, prestige, and station of a wizard vs loving and cherishing her friends).
But it could also be interpreted in a future connotation. Like she COULD be kind but we have yet to see. Will the citadel justification machine take over or will she retain the lessons learned from grandmother wren and hold on to a respect for the world of spirits
Last Eursulon saw Suvi she was caught between her friends and the citadel. And while wizardry is not innately unkind the systems put in place by the citadel can be concerning. Suvi has the potential to go down an alarming path with the brass of the citadel pushing her along. She has the capacity to be "unkind". But the gut reactions we see from her. The Suvi reactions, not Sky or the citadel, but SUVI are always kind. With her friends in her life Suvi can be kind and would continue to be kind. But her friends keep pulling away and the fall out from the last goodbye may be very influential into who Suvi will be.
Eursulon may not have meant much by his response but it feels very ominous in that we are yet to see the type of legacy this interation of the wizard Sky is going to leave.
Sometimes, you're casually making breakfast while listening to the fireside for Worlds Beyond Number & you suddenly hear Erika read a question you submitted about the episode.
Listen, gang: it's rare that I ask you for anything explicitly. But after the awkward hell that she endured on my behalf, and given that she's one of the funniest standups traipsing around LA right now...

Hey you like Aguefort?
I gotchu an Aguefort so you can Aguefort while you Aguefort
This one was a WILD ride XD Such a good time to work on, but EACH AGUEFORT IS AN INDIVIDUAL LAYER. Shout out to Derek and Ruby for animating all of these very silly principals ♥
‘i dont think im an artist, i think im just a really good friend’ is an incredible quote from the girl who pretended to be too cool for friendships in season 1
