this isn't exactly stitching content, but it's timelapse of a drawing that I'm planning to sell as a cross stitch pattern! My store isn't open yet but it will be soon. I'm flourishingghoststudio on insta if you'd like to follow me!
a collection of my finished embroidery & cross stitch pieces from the past few years to now
the shells are an ink circles pattern and the gnome is a mill hill kit (with some of the colors switched out). for the larger strawberry piece I followed a tutorial by SilverSnow on youtube (I didn’t use her pattern, just the stitching techniques).
as it turned out i did the floats too tight for it to fit my head so I took the opportunity to change up the design a bit. I’m way happier with the design but i still don’t think i made the floats loose enough 😭 idk if i’m gonna do it a third time or not
Completed the entire colorwork section of my hat project last night! This was my first time doing colorwork, I knit up to it several months ago and then got scared of messing it up and put it away lol. but yesterday I pulled it out and did the whole section in a day!
I’m not 100% happy with how it turned out. My tension seems ok but not as good as I’d like. I kind of wish I’d brought in a third color to help the design stand out more, but I was trying to keep it simple. Also this yarn is not great, it’s giving me a lot of fluffy haloing. I think someday I’d like to remake this project with some better quality or even handspun yarn, and make the colorwork slightly more complex. But for now it’s a really good learning/confidence building project.
i meant to take a picture when my spindle was completely full bc it looks so cool but i immediately forgot and started winding it into a plying bracelet instead lol

wet blocked and dried! i’m really pleased and kind of astonished with how much it looks like “real” yarn. like. i know it is real yarn, just with a lot of imperfections. but i made that and I can use it for something!
I figure it's only fitting to do a throwback to my most popular project, hexagon blanket number 1. Including my little furry helper, of course.
As you can see, it's still holding up strong. I've only had to do one emergency repair, because past me didn't know how to weave in ends properly, so one of the hexies tried to undo itself from the centre 😱
i haven’t really been posting progress pics here much and my pictures are not very good but let’s do it. im almost done with this project which is a strawberry themed cardigan. i just have to make all the strawberry appliqués & the rest of the leaves and sew it all on
also I’m hoping it shrinks slightly in the wash bc i made the cuffs slightly too big and since the whole thing is a little oversized I think it would be okay
anyway this is the first piece of clothing I’ve crocheted and i’m very proud of myself. I had to buy 3 skiens new but the rest is old secondhand acrylic so hooray for minimizing new acrylic purchasing

This is one of the more ambitious pieces I've done for a bit, and I did it on an absurd deadline, but my trans dragon back patch is done! The project ended up taking 130 hours of working time to finish, using two strands of cotton floss for both fills and outlines. The base pattern was from my own collection and was originally from 1936.
learning to spin on a drop spindle: a beginner’s lengthy yet comprehensive guide
I put this monograph together for a friend, but many other people wanted to read it as well, so here it is !
Fig A: Parts of a Drop Spindle. (image source. notes are mine. Click for higher res !). Apologies in advance for the lack of image descriptions–for the most part I use images because I can’t figure out how to describe the thing in words, so describing the images is kinda the whole issue. If anyone wanted to write them for me I’d add them to the original post in a heartbeat !
How to Get Started Drafting and Spinning
So, you have your fiber and your spindle–now what ?
Friendly pre-tutorial reminder that radfems can fuck right off if they think I’m writing any of this for their benefit. I’m not. I hope they all choke on their spindles <3. This is a safe space for trans people first and foremost.
