heya author im new here and is wondering bcs i saw zifra and sistel tag, is there's a ship for zehra/sifra or if its more like poly option or something??

the poly is something i’ve thought about for a while - in a world without their jealousies over sir, they could have been quite good friends (and they both find each other attractive). but implementing it is something that would take a while, both because i need to finish the next update (and wrangle with tweego) and because there’s a lot of tension between sifra/sir/zehra because of the awkward dynamic they had when they were younger

they are ten, and you fell asleep under the smokebush. again.

the purple puffs contrast with your simple clothing, and you look too peaceful to move.

but it’s bloody cold out here, and sifra doesn’t much relish the thought of being caught out here.

“come on, $ogname,” they murmur, nudging you gently. then less gently. then when they are very clear that you do not intend to move, they sigh, wait a few moments, and then preternaturally strong hands loop under your thigh and your bicep, and when they lift you it doesn’t feel as stomach-shaking as when your father would lift you when you were still half a baby.

“go to sleep.” the order is gruff, already, even as you drift back into secure sleep.

[NECKLACE] - fastening a necklace around another’s neck

sifra is thirteen, and zehra is visiting for the first time in three weeks.

(it has been the best two weeks, six days and thirteen hours of their life.)

and yet $ogname is nowhere to be seen, halfway to talvane on a barge down the argent, and sifra is left to entertain zehra. alone.

they would sooner die.

after much huffing and puffing, zehra turns to sifra, breaking their fantasy with a hesitant pout.

(fuck, she’s pretty. bitch.)

“can you help me?”

no, no no no, can’t shan’t won’t--the words linger on their lips, but then they picture $ogname standing in front of them, disapproving and hoping that they magically get on through sheer force of will alone.

“sure.” their fingers are long, more deft than she was expecting, but she startles and shifts in place each time their long fingers brush the column of her throat, and sifra feels their brow knit.

“hold still.”

“sorry.” she sounds breathless, as if she has run a mile, and sifra’s brow may never unknit again.

“fine.” she turns to face them at that, long, rich, treacle-dark curls falling lazily past her shoulders.

Zehra: In settings that are more professional, she would be more reserved - however, in "civilian life", or away from the city, she'd be much more comfortable with being openly affectionate.

Sifra: Pathologically opposed to public displays of affection - if you saw them and their partner, you'd assume they were friendly work colleagues. Has the capacity to be very affectionate in private or among trusted friends.

Irin: Depends on the display - something like a kiss, absolutely no problems, literally in public or in private doesn’t matter. Something like a hand touch (or, dare I say it, a wrist touch) - that’s a little intimate for public consumption, he’d rather that, if they did it at all, his partner did that in private.

Estel: Would love a partner to be affectionate with them, all the time in any situation if they're comfortable with it. Like a flower to sunlight.

Anahi: The most she would accept would be some light hand-holding - but she would think it was quite reassuring. She would never initiate or ask for it, though. (She would melt if her partner asked or initiated.)

What do they find irresistible in others?

They get all googly-eyed around people that are kind - they didn’t have a lot of kindness or warmth growing up. They’re willing to do a lot to help someone that was kind to them, even only briefly.

Are they a good kisser?

Kisses like a tempest - hard and rough at first, grips their partner’s jaw tight enough to feel it afterwards. After a while (particularly when more comfortable in a relationship), gets more gentle - still intense enough to take their partner’s breath away.

What is their most mentally attractive attribute?

Zehra - limitless patience. That's not to say that she is never frustrated, but a lifetime as a mediator for others’ troubles has made her very adept at seeing an issue from both sides, which means that in a conflict she can be very calming. Very rarely loses her temper, though again, that's not to say that she does not stand up for herself.

Sifra - utter devotion. Whether that be to their responsibilities as Commander or to their (admittedly few) loved ones, they are the epitome of ride-or-die - whatever is needed, they will not rest until they have given it.

Irin - boundless curiosity. He has a deep appreciation for even the smallest things, and cannot wait to share that sense of wonder with others. Willing to pursue lines of enquiry as far as he can (that is, after all, why he’s on the run)

Estel - endless kindness. They have been beaten down and beaten back and still they know no other way than to be kind, without question or expectation of reward.

Anahi - undying determination. She is willing to do anything to both achieve her goals and to help a very trusted friend or partner achieve theirs. Very resilient - she has faced knock-backs before and has used them to get stronger.

i might be a little dumb, but why is Sifra mad at us in the first chapter?

depends on when you mean - in the flashback or in the cell?

in the flashback, they’re not really mad at sir, they’re mad that (as they see it) zehra always interrupts the time they have together. that, combined with their rejection sensitivity dysphoria, means that they are then convinced that sir would rather be spending time with their pretty, rich friend than with them, and that’s why they go, even if sir tries to stop them. once sifra’s got something like that in their head, they can’t be convinced otherwise.

in the cell at the beginning of the second update - couple of different reasons. they’re angry for sir mostly at the realisation that sir is doing something that could get themself killed (as a law enforcement official, they’re more aware than most of the punishments for crimes). then they’re angry at them, because sir’s just crashed back into their life like a wrecking ball and they could ruin everything - just as one word from sifra could doom sir, so could one word from sir (indicating that sifra knows their past and knew they were committing a crime and helped them anyway) doom sifra. then they’re angry about gintan and then they’re angry for all the old reasons (sifra’s not particularly good at separating out why they were angry, for example in the flashback above, and it’s been 10 years - a lot of things have been conflated in their memory).
