Algunas veces me siento como la diosa, Chantico. Colectando cosas por la vida sin compartir porque no hay nadie digno, esperando a compartir todo con una persona. Pero cuando el tiempo llega, ya no es posible. La pinté sobre una experiencia en mi vida que empezó en la infancia; como la canción de The Smiths, “I want the one I can’t have”. El dolor de querer a alguien tanto pero el tiempo dice, “todavía no”. Y cuando por fin nuestros años llegan a la edad adulta, es demasiado tarde.

Mayahuel is the Aztec goddess of the maguey plant and fertility. There is a myth about star demons that killed Mayahuel when the feathered serpent, Quetzalcoatl, took her from her grandmother. Devastated by her death, Quetzalcoatl buried her and the first maguey plant was born from her remains.
