remove that stray hair off your face,

straighten your back

do not feel out of place.

sweet woman, do not look down,

do not get used to your frown.

people here need to see

how friendly you can be.

pretty girl, don’t be shy

you look beautiful, it’s true.

do not feel insecure

i really like you, as you.

do not think you are ugly.

do not think you look fat.

whatever the color of your skin is

i still like you like that.

girl, smile and let the sunray in,

do not hide in the dark

come outside and live your life,

leave each heart with a mark.

but i am afraid of what society

might say because…

mother always tells me i have to conform to society because that’s how a lady was taught to be. but mother, i want to be the one to reform. why am i being condemned by society for being me? the views that you see as rebellion, the ones that label me a shrewd and a hellion. please don’t ask me to stop, try to understand. generations are changing and i get that you’re scared, but there are some things that i can’t ignore—things that make me want to scream and roar. for all the injustice and abuse that my sisters’ face, regardless of nationality, race and religion they deserve my voice, my care and attention. till this problem becomes something so rare that it’s never felt. that’s when i’ll stop.

until then, i’ll fight till i drop.

Education is the burning torch that shines through the darkness and uncertainties that may we encounter in this life long journeys.

It helps us to grow and understand to the situations around us.

We ask questions to find solutions,

We learn to think,

To reason,

To acquire knowledge,

To seek informations.

Education brings people to unison,

It tears down walls,

It breaks barriers,

It lifts us—it leads to success.

Let us cherish this precious gift to make a difference in this world.
