There really does come a point when you've been aromantic long enough that you no longer wish you weren't. You will learn to navigate amatanormative society, and you'll carve a little piece out of it where you can be happy. The happiness you find might look different than the average alloro person's, but that's okay. It won't be theirs, it'll be yours. And it's worth the struggle and uncertainty getting there. So if you don’t know a somewhat well-known symbol of asexuality is what has come to be known as an ace ring which is a primarily black ring commonly worn on the right middle finger the origin of which can be found here

A I would saay slightly less well-known symbol (though both are definitely not well-known) is the aro ring which is a primarily white ring commonly worn on the left middle finger the origin of which likely comes from this here

Something about this that I think is interesting is that it seems that only the aro one caught on which is interesting because all the others proposed seemed cool imo.

Aromantic Census

Above is a link for a Google Form for a small Aromantic Census. As in the description within the form, this information is simply to gather some demographic questions about the aromantic community on Tumblr and Discord. It will be shared on this Tumblr, which may be spread to Discord, but the information will not be spread otherwise by the creator.

All questions are multiple choice with some multi-select, all with the ability to write in one's own answers. All questions are simple demographic questions and do not venture into typically triggering topics. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to use this Tumblr to communicate them.

Canton Winer, a sociology PhD student at the University of California, Irvine, recently began a project with Hannah Tessler (Yale University) and Emily Fox (UC Santa Barbara) that explores how people understand friendships, romance, and sex. They are interested in getting responses from LGBTQIA+ folks (and asexual and aromantic people in particular) but want to hear from everyone, including cisgender and hetero folks.

Anyone who is 18 or older and living in the US can participate. You do not have to have experience with all relationship types (friendship, romantic, sexual, etc.) to participate.
