Sad news

I recently heard that Tumblr is going to make a deal with MidJourney that allows them to scrape images from this website and steal from artists to make AI images. At the moment this is only a rumor, but I’m guessing it’s probably true.

This is my side blog and my main one is for posting art. If this rumor turns out to be true, I will probably delete my account and leave this site for good. If that ends up happening, it has nothing to do with anyone following this blog and everything to do with tumblr’s corporate greed and desperation to stay relevant.

If any artists are reading this, don’t let this AI fad keep you from creating. Whether you decide to keep posting art on tumblr or any other site is up to you, but never ever stop creating. Even if you’re a beginner who can only make stick figures, your art will always be more meaningful and beautiful than what robots can make from stolen data because it came from your soul. Your art is still important to me and countless others. Don’t forget that.

PSA! TUMBLR IS SELLING YOUR ART TO AI COMPANIES

I've just been warned by a coworker who spoke to people inside Tumblr's parent company Automattic that they plan to sell all original images uploaded to this hellsite to Midjourney AI. Here is that warning in his words:

In other words, your OC will be used to train AI without your consent, and your art style will be stolen by the AI.
