Oh, don't worry about the ask being sad, I like angst! It's an interesting question. I seem to understand you want to know how he would deal with such a scenario after Henry's birth. Let me just state that, in case this happened before, he simply would not deal with it. There's no way Chuck could survive this, not if he didn't have a son to care for. You're absolutely right in saying Blair would face the situation better: she would possibly find a way to function through life. Chuck wouldn't. But, having a son and being a father, he wouldn't allow himself to spiral and let himself die as well. Chuck is chronically depressed on top of many other issues, so he'd still need a lot of help from his extended family, but he would never neglect Henry. Actually, he'd likely simply quit his job and dedicate his entire life to him, as everything else would probably lose meaning. It's not healthy, and he'd likely never be happy again. That being said, he would find a way to cope, just for Henry. He definitely wouldn't try to find another life partner, but only casual encounters. Blair was it for him, he never loved anyone else (while Blair did).

another Henry's ask: how do you think he felt growing up as C & B's son? regarding their level of fame but also all the informations about them on GG? did it make him doubt himself? or maybe his way of rebelling has to be like behaving drastically different than his parents someway? What do you think Henry is like when he's 17/18? also what do you think he'll study at uni? i picture him doing something very different than his parents like becoming a scientist? or a doctor?

I love Henry asks! Send as many as you want! I think he felt pretty much awesome, lol. I don't think he ever suffered his parents' fame; rather, he probably took pride in it and used it to boost his own popularity, power, and influence at school and later on in life. The Henry I imagine and write is very, very proud of being a Waldorf-Bass and he shows it with no restraint. As for teenage Henry, I imagine a self-confident, posh kid with a very big ego, an interesting social life, and a tendency to like casual romantic relationships, with his father's libertine attitude and his mother's thirst for power. I don't think he'd be rebellious, though, aside from normal things teenagers do and that are typical of that age. When it comes to university/college, I think his parents would give him the option to choose whether to go or not. Neither Chuck nor Blair has a degree, and that did not stop them from becoming extremely successful in their fields. Besides, they have both suffered the pressure of parents' expectations (in different ways, of course) and they would not put their son through the same thing, though I believe Blair would probably try to convince him to attend college. However, if Henry felt strongly against it, she would not force him. In any case, I am certain Henry would want to follow in his dad's footsteps and eventually take over him at BI. I believe he has Chuck's talent for business and the same passion for it. Therefore, If he chose to go to college, he'd study either business or economics, perhaps architecture. That being said, something that I imagine him doing is taking a gap year to travel after finishing high school: some sort of grand tour experience. I could see Henry coming out as gay/bi to his parents and both of them reacting in a really positive matter even if Henry was worried about their reaction. Eric telling him that Chuck was one of the first persons who helped him out when he came out, Harrold and Roman being there as well. I think it would be an interesting dynamic between them! I also think Nate would pay him extra attention to be sure Henry's been treated with respect. That's a headcanon I have for them!

Good point! I headcanoned Henry as straight at first, but eventually, I navigated toward him possibly being bi. I feel this would not be an issue in any way: Henry has a bisexual father, gay grandparents, and a gay uncle; I don't even think it would be something that needs to be talked about in a problematic or even especially emotional manner. I'd be just something he'd tell them naturally. He'd have the complete support of his entire family, Nate included, of course. Being queer is much less of a stigma these days than it was when the show hired (the reason why Chuck's bisexuality is only addressed through one single line of dialogue and a couple of jokes here and there): I don't think Henry would face a lot of issues in this sense, being popular, and handsome, and extremely rich - I know it's an unfair statement, but well. I also think he's an extremely confident person!

Hello, readers. It's been such a long time, I'm not even sure where to begin. Honestly, I didn't think I'd write about this couple and this universe again, or write at all, but then last summer Chuck and Blair drew me back into their world and this story started to shape in my mind. It started as a simple one-shot built over a basic trope, just to get back into the groove; as I started typing it down, however, it became bigger and bigger, and deeper, and less light than I had imagined it, which is why I decided to publish it into two parts, to make it more accessible for whoever wants to read it.

You should read it as a portrayal of these characters' life together, of what a mature relationship and a solid marriage mean for them, and how their complexities fit into it. Overall, I did not restrain myself while writing this: what you read is my headcanon as it is, detailed and wide, and I made no compromises with my vision of the characters.

I should also warn my readers that I do not consider the Gossip Girl reboot canonical. I have nothing against it, and no particular issue with Chuck and Blair and Henry living their life in Paris; to put it simply, by the time the reboot came out, I had already spent years writing about my post-series headcanon, and so I no longer felt comfortable changing it.
