so yeah. its been a while. i keep forgetting i havent updated this poll because i literally dreamt about it once. sadly, i dont think this poll is going to start up again. maybe? ill upload just the finals and ditch the redemption round, just to get closure, but for now, i just wanna say this has been sosososo fun and thank you all for the support ive gotten on here. The Drift Compatible Poll!!!!!

A tournament for duos and trios that are so in sync, they could pilot a Jaeger together! Not familiar with Pacific Rim or the concept of drifting/being drift compatible? Here's some handy dandy excerpts straight from the Pacific Rim Wiki:

"The process of Drifting is a type of Mind Meld that requires the pilots to share their memories, instinct and emotions with each other. Drifting allows them to act as one consciousness and control the very movement of the Jaeger itself, with one pilot controlling the "right hemisphere" and the other the "left hemisphere"." "Whether two pilots are "Drift Compatible" with one another depends largely on their personal connection and their ability to work in sync with each other." "Trust is also an implicit part in creating a strong bond between potential partners and familiarity with a partner makes fostering trust easier, as it is usually more difficult between strangers."

So basically, a duo or trio that is drift compatible must: 1) Have a strong personal connection 2) Be very in sync with each other 3) Trust each other

We’ll be setting up your favorite (and least favorite) characters to fistfight against each other! Strong and weak characters alike, fighting it out! (Submissions are not open yet)

This will be round robin, which means every single character that makes it in will go against each other character. Even if they lost in round 1! So this is gonna last a bit.

Due to the previous bullet point, I’m going to be accepting 100 characters at most. That’s the limit of my comfort zone.

They should actually be antagonists. I'm not talking simply rivals, no they need to be the actual antagonist of an arc or the series. I don't want characters who were just assholes once in the beginning and then are part of the group. They can have moments where they help out the protags but at the end of the day, they're definitely still an antagonist

Mr Green/Wadsworth: The inherent homoeroticism of throwing a man to the floor... Being annoying... Both r clearly gay anyway... I think they have hooked up and are denying feelings tbh

Susan/Peggy: Every day I'm furious that Susan doesn't get to go to heaven because she discovered lipstick and nylons. FUCK C.S. Lewis for that for real. She lived an adult life with more agency and personhood than she could possibly access in a lifetime England when she returned from Narnia and was told she could never go back to Narnia—so why is she punished for trying to make the most of her life?!

I've seen the take that "busy chasing lipstick and nylons" doesn't mean she's more interested in fashion than in lion jesus, it means she was attracted to women, and yknow, that just makes things worse.

I saw season 1 of Agemt Carter, I read the Peggy/Angie vibes, and I'm a multishipper at heart. Susan crossing paths with Peggy Carter is SO plausable and it's one of the few ways I could see her finding a happy and fulfilling life moving forward! And god does she ever deserve better than she gets in canon.

Rochi: there are literally 19 fics for this ship, all but 3 written by the same person, and the characters have never even been mentioned in the same sentence, let alone met. neither of them have any lines, we don't know what one looks like and we only know he exists because of like 2 fact files you can find scattered around the game. but holy shit if the dynamic ive deluded myself into thinking they have isnt DELECTABLE

Yoohankim: okay okay so. kim dokja reads about yoo joonghyuk’s life for 10 years (he’s the main character of a webnovel kdj’s been reading). han sooyoung waits for 50 years in an alternate universe she’s stuck in. han sooyoung and yoo joonghyuk wait together for 3 years for kim dokja to return after he died (once). yoo joonghyuk and han sooyoung regress (die and go back in time to start over) and live through another apocalypse to get to kim dokja. it’s revealed han sooyoung was the one writing that webnovel kim dokja read for 10 years (she wanted to keep him alive). it’s also revealed yoo joonghyuk regressed 1863 times (so at least 1863 years) to find kim dokja. yoo joonghyuk goes into space for a long long while in hopes of getting kim dokja back. han sooyoung waits for both of them. it’s complicated but i can say with full certainty that combined they have pined for each other for 17 million years

Wei Wuxian then returns to life in a different body and Lan Wangji almost instantly recognises him and, of course, he is still stupidly in love with him. Add in some excellent miscommunication and misunderstandings, Wei Wuxian pretends to like Lan Wangji and fast forward a good few weeks, Lan Wangji's brother has enough of seeing his brother be flirted with with (what he thinks is) no emotional intent behind it, he finally reveals Lan Wangji's true feelings to Wei Wuxian. Wei Wuxian then realises that he, too, loves Lan Wangji and they live happily ever after.

Catradora: These two ladies are one of the most iconic examples of friends-to-enemies-to-friends-to-lovers in fiction. They’ve known each other and cared about each other since childhood. They weren’t sure what their feelings for each other were, but both knew the other CARED. Then Adora realized that they were both working for the Bad Guys and defected, and Catra did NOT take that well. What follows are 4 straight seasons of flirtation, hostilities, and heated combat before Catra finally understands where and how badly she messed up, and joins Adora’s team. Sasunaru: They haven't been able to stay away from each other since the beginning, literally obsessed. Dozens and DOZENS of manga panels of Naruto just asking 'but what about Sasuke' 'anyway, about Sasuke' 'i wonder what Sasuke's doing' 'I wanna go back and wait for Sasuke' etc etc ad nauseum, literally talking to a picture of sasuke on his bedside table, or other people being like 'all you EVER talk about is SASUKE, SASUKE, SASUKE. Shut up!' And Sasuke, with his dramatic gay little monologues, he isn't any better, and he's always on about Naruto too. I too like to stare up at the moon and think of my (no homo no homo no homo) friend (while he does the same thing at the same time, somewhere far away). 'I know your heart, and you mine, right Naruto?' 'Farewell, my one and only.' 'I am in Naruto's world. I am blessed to exist.' (The last one is from a light novel. Dramatic mf). So they just pull this shit for years and years and just let the tension build up, because oh no, Sasuke has to be on his angsty path and they've got to be at odds forever! Pining. In the extreme.
