Hi! I’m an undergraduate playwright that studies Roman history. In two weeks I’ll be leaving my home country for the first time to live, study, and write in Florence for 6 weeks!
I was wondering if you have any advice for traveling to Italy and/or any recommendations on how to spend my time there. I’d love to hear about the must-sees and unexpected gems from your time traveling!
That sounds so fun, I hope you have a great time!
Rome will always be on the list; fantastic food and cultural sights, even though it can get quite expensive. My favourite experiences come from southern Italy though and especially Naples and the surrounding area. The train-lines along the coast are amazing and the vibes in costaltowns like Garibaldi ect. are just so special. It is also here you will find the archeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum, but if you only have time to see one, I'd definitely choose the latter as it's less touristy and better preserved.
Venice is a bit of a difficult one as it has become very degraded due to excessive tourism in the last century so staying there during the summer isn't exactly fun but it's possible to see a lot of the city on a long daytrip. Florence is actually one of the only "major" Italian cities I haven't been to yet (reallyyyy wanna go though), but its a great place to be when it comes to taking small trips to other cities and I can also recommend Milan for some beautiful architecture!
I hope you have a great trip, learn and experience a lot, eat some mindblowing pasta (and watch out for pickpockets). <3

This is my first summer living in a big city and I cannot explain to you the utter agony of not having a private place to lay down on some grass and read a book in nothing but my underwear

By "made it" I mean any possible way of making: drew it, took a photo, made a collage, made it in Picrew, photoshopped it, etc.
If your pfp is just slightly modified by you (e.g. a screenshot of a character with added pride flag) feel free to choose between options 1 and 4 as you will
