also I forgot to establish the heights in the draw this in my style series so lamp tries to make up for her 5’10 struggles with Intimidating Platform Boots
I have been asked by some friends of mine, following a few long rants about my least favorite element of this series: Chapter 3. Some of you may already know that these tend to be the weakest elements of any DR game, but it goes beyond just that.
I’m here to explain to you all why every Chapter 3 I’ve seen- DR1, SDR2, V3, DRA and SDRA2- is the worst. I’m also going to be ranking them, starting from the least bad, and explaining why, on every conceivable level, they don’t work.
First off, let me just start off by saying that, if you like these characters or sections of their respective games, more power to you. I am not judging you, I’m not attacking you and I’m glad you could get more enjoyment out of them than I did. This is simply me explaining why I don’t think they work, but why some work better than others. All of this is just my opinion.
Some of this will be me criticizing them for their objective writing problems, some of it will be personal taste reasons, but perhaps you’ll be interested in what I have to say. Without further ado, let’s get into it:
Random headcanon time: Gema, Geiju, and Kaga have been friends since middle school and are extremely good friends even though they all share different interests.
(I don't care what you say I think it's cute friend group)
I watched Super Drags on Netflix and Imma say something that’s unpopular.
I love the show SO much! It’s beautifully animated, the designs are breathtaking and not to mention have good messages; some even got to me since I feel gay insecurities that I’ve pushed down since I figured out I wasn’t straight and even after I came out.
Some feel that the show is a little too hypersexual and over the top. While it is very sexual at times, that’s kinda the point since it’s an adult cartoon. But also, it’s all based around the LGBTQ community in Brazil. One of the villains in the show is a classic “Gay is bad, put them in camp” type of guy. But here’s the thing, he’s based on a guy Brazil elected who believed in “Beating the gay out”.
While Super Drags isn’t for everyone, I believe it should be given a chance. If you don’t enjoy it within the first couple episodes then that’s okay. I just believe this beautiful show doesn’t get shit on because of it’s humor and dubbing.
Anyways, that’s what I think. I don’t voice my opinion often but I wanted to say this.
Super Drags is an amazing show, you should definitely watch it. Of course, if you live in Europe or North America you probably won’t get the references and the way LGBTQ+ people are represented in the show, because it’s the way the LGBTQ+ Brazilians are, the moment we are going through in Brazil is different, it’s not the same like in the US or Canada. The show is not transphobic or anything like that.
We just fucking elected a LGBTQphobic president and Brazil has the highest number of LGBTQ+ homicide in the world. Please, understand that this show means a lot to us. It feels like we’re part of the society and we exist. Also do some research before saying things you’re not aware of. Thank you.
Unfortunately, people who weren’t the target audience, specially not South-american people, hated so much on the show that got it cancelled by Netflix.
I am so upset. Not only because the show was cancelled, but the REASON they used to make it happen. It’s really unfair and the show didn’t deserve the amount of hate and ignorance from people that didn’t really understand the majority of the show because it was either out of their culture or comfort zone. Just ughhhhh-
And this is why I made a petition to shout out to Netflix and make them see that we still want this show! We want a new season! We want people to see the shine of it! This show is mostly about acceptance and showing off who you are no matter what, people should see that too!
So please, if you liked the show as much as I did and think this is unfair as hell, sign it up! Sign it up, share it and make Netflix hear us!
Thank you for your attention.
(The whole story regarding this and my full point of view is explained in the petition both in English and Portuguese, so it can reach as many people as possible.)
