sav had always been pretty good at giving advice to others. she was attentive and sweet (when she needed to be), impartial and non judgemental when it came to the people she cared about. it wasn’t a side she offered to others very often, aware that she herself doesn’t take advice when given it and not necessarily wanting her time to be wasted. also, she didn’t spend much time with people who often needed to hear these sorts of things. but, given everything that happened at the masquerade, Sav can’t help but think zuko might need someone to hear him out more than anything. and, in the end, it could help Dani out a bit too and making sure her best friend was okay was the most important thing to Sav. “so, you set a table on fire?” honestly kind of cool as far as Sav is concerned, but it’s not the healthiest or smartest reaction, and it’s not like she’s going to offer zuko the classic ‘i’m here if you wanna talk’ spiel. that was never her style and it hardly seemed like his either. @zukoozai
“compared to a lot of the shit people did at that party, i don’t think that’s all that news worthy.” he shrugs, still bitter about the gossip blast about the incident. bad enough to have done it in such a public setting, but now it had to be on the internet? he didn’t like talking about his feelings, or anyone’s feelings. “and you know if it’d been the other way around, she’d have done a lot worse.” he doesn’t have to say her name, he’s sure sav knows he’s referring to her best friend just as sure as he is that she knows exactly why he’d set that fire. she probably knew all the details long before anything came out publicly.

If the roles were reversed, Dani would be acting the exact same way. Fits of jealous rage, texts and phone calls that went unanswered, never-ending stretches of silence, it all makes sense. There’s even a small part of Dani that knows she deserves this, that she should be respecting Zuko’s clear desire for space and give him the time he needs to come around. But a much bigger part of her, fueled by impatience, impulse, and anger of her own, has had enough. “I know you’re in there!” Dani calls through the closed door, first banging on the door without any regard for how annoyed his neighours might be. If they have anything to say, she’ll happily fight them too. “Don’t make me burn this door down!” It’s a very real threat, and one she won’t hesitate to act on if he keeps her waiting much longer. // @zukoozai·
zuko had every intention of ignoring dani until she went away, that was until he realized she wouldn’t. “i’m coming!” he calls out as he walks to the door, fully aware that dani was serious in her threat. he’d considered doing the same. he hadn’t spoken to dani since the ball, he had nothing to say. well, he had plenty to say, but none of it was nice. he hated the feeling of jealousy that had burrowed and made a home in his chest since seeing her with donald. he hated how angry it made him, how he almost burned down the dojo because he couldn’t stop thinking about it. he was sure seeing or talking to her would make him go nuclear, but he should’ve known he couldn’t get away with that for long with her. “what?” he asks, tone bored as he opens the door just enough that his body still blocked any view or entry inside.

With her ex wandering around the island Dani almost suggested forgoing the festival completely, for once in her life feeling an unfamiliar desire to avoid a fight. But her desire not to let Omari live in her mind wins out instead, refusing to give him the satisfaction. “You know how to skate?” she asks with an eyebrow raised, though considering his athletic prowess it might be his desire to skate that’s throwing her off. Downing the margarita that’s in her hand, she sets the glass on the nearest surface before taking Zuko’s hand in her own. “Let’s fuck it up.”
Zuko mimics her raised brow teasingly. “Yes, I know how to skate. Do you?” Granted, he he'd only been out on the ice a hand full of times since leaving New York. But his mom had taught him to skate and he had nothing but good memories of her and skating. Part of him wanted to share that with Dani. He didn’t know how to say it necessarily, but he thought it might make her feel better. He lets out a laugh, lacing their fingers together. “Whatever you say.”

“Wow, you’re having that much fun, huh?” she teases, but already her hand is in his, leading him in the direction of the bar. “You know, it’s a hayride… that’s haunted,” Dani shrugs, not at all answering his question. “I think you sit on hay and people jump out and try to scare you?” Truthfully she’s not exactly sure, but maybe it’ll be fun. “You’re not allowed to hit them, though,” she warns, though it’s as much of a reminder to herself. Her first instinct is always to throw punches first and ask questions later.
“And you want people to jump out and scare you?” He inquired, because he really couldn’t see what the appeal in that was. Especially if you weren’t allowed to hit them. He really needed that drink now. “I don’t think I can promise not to hit them. I don’t have control over that, sometimes it just happens.” And that wasn’t even including his flame powers. Or hers. They were just as likely to set the whole hayride on fire than anything else.

It’s absolutely no secret that Zuko doesn’t like attending island events and has made his feelings about Halloween in particular perfectly clear, but the fact that after a bit of coaxing on her part, he agreed to put on a costume and show up was enough to put Dani in a good mood. So much so that she didn’t even feel like starting a fight, a personal fight that she is quite proud of. Not even bothering to snap when it’s clear he wasn’t paying attention to her, she looks up at him with a sweet smile. “Do you need a drink before I drag you on the hayride?” she repeats, almost positive he won’t want to participate in the festivities sober.
“Yes.” He answers with a blunt tone, but can’t help the small smile that forms as he looks at her. He knew she could’ve easily picked a fight just then which means she actively chose not to, which she rarely did since she loved to fight more than anyone he’d ever met. “What exactly is a haunted hayride anyway?”

zuko tended to feel out of place. between his father’s disapproval and his sister’s tormenting, halloween just seemed easier to avoid. he’d spent most of his time handing out candy with his mom, then after her disappearance, he decided he hated the holiday. but, of course, there was an event and, of course, dani wanted to go. so he tried his best not to appear as sullen as he felt as he walked around the festival. “sorry, what?” he asked, realizing he’d been distracted by the chaos of everything and hadn’t heard what she was saying. @dragcndani
