On the subject of Zenos' cutscenes and the Garlean language
Given his status I do believe Zenos has been taught how to speak and read languages other than Garlean.
With that in mind: Does he speak common / "Eorzean" to the WoL in the cutscenes, or is he speaking in Garlean and the Echo translates it for us?
Would he even know that we posses such ability thanks to the Echo, or would he speak in Eorzean to ensure we understand him? What about cutscenes where he addresses NPCs with a different origin (and, presumably, a different first language) than the WoL? E.g. Fordola and Yotsuyu? Also, as a side thought: does the Resonant grant him a similar ability to understand other languages?

WoL offering their aid to Zenos' Voidsent.
Not because they think they're good, not because they think they deserve it.
But because they're all that they have left of him.

Addition because this is a recurrent thought of mine:
Tumblr media
Zenos stretching out his arm in the WoL's direction at the end of Endwalker makes me think of how incredibly good it must feel for him when he finally does get to hold the WoL's hand.

I don't want a Zenos redemption arc, I just wanted him to live.
I want him to find new motivations to do so, yes, but I also want him to remain equally unapologetic about his past actions, rendering aid to the Scions only when it benefits him in some manner as he did with Fandaniel, and regarding the WoL not as ally or foe but merely his equal.
I don't want him soft, I don't want him kind: I want our usual Zenos with his brutal honestly, self-centeredness, and admiration for power to be back.

You have to inherit a recessive alele from each of your parents for a recessive gene to be expressed.
So... Yeah. Zenos' mother would have to be the descendant of an Ascian (or an Ascian herself). 😬
To be honest, I think this was more of a spur-of-the-moment comment from Yoshida's behalf, and not something he had properly thought through or talked about with the writers (he even called Zenos Emet's "grandson", so...).
But it's still fun to think about!

ZenosWoL NS/FW HCs
Big Garlean Man™️ has genitalia to scale.
Little to no experience doesn't mean little to no knowledge: Zenos is curious by nature and well-read. He's got more than the basics down, even if just in theory.
Zenos doesn't give any importance to the concept of "virginity": it's not something positive that should be praised, or negative that should be mocked. He doesn't understand why people give "first times" so much importance, either.
Very sex positive, doesn't think discussing it is shameful or taboo.
Probably wouldn't mind if the WoL has other sexual partners; he believes that his connection with the WoL is unique to them and nobody else can understand it or match it. For this same reason, he will not share their bed with a third person (or more). Whatever the WoL does with others, he doesn't want to be involved.
Tenderness feels completely alien to him. It's not unpleasant, and he certainly enjoys the thought of the WoL regarding him with affection, but it takes time to get used to (and learn to reciprocate).
He seems to have no hard limits. At this point the WoL begs him to stop saying yes to everything they propose to do, and to please give it some thought and take it seriously. He probably doesn't.
Huge size difference means there's no penetration without previous preparation, which at times can be slow and tedious. He doesn't mind taking his time, but when they're in a rush, they'll just resort to intercrural sex, handjobs, or oral.
He does not stfu during sex. He is very inquisitive and talkative. WoL is considering a ballgag at this point.
Zenos following commands is good. Zenos being told by the WoL what they like is good. Zenos thriving off praise is good.
Whatever you deem his sex-drive to be, it's far from matching his thirst for battle. If the WoL is going to make him choose between quickie or a spar, they can safely assume they're not going to get laid that night.
Zenos has very high stamina, he can and will go multiple rounds of penetration. Top that with some extra orgasms given with his hands or mouth, and the WoL is going to be learning the meaning of "sexual exhaustion".
After-sex Zenos has the exact same energy as a big cat being content and lethargic after a filling meal. And the WoL is more than welcome to stay in bed and lay around with him.
He will tie up his hair for Serious Business ™️
Very touch starved. Enjoys the press of skin against skin, and loves when the WoL explores his body. The sensation of their touch lingers long after they're gone, and he finds himself thinking about the pleasant warmth of their hands when they're apart.
Enjoys orgasm delay and denial. Would save them for the WoL if they instructed him to, even if weeks pass between their meetings.
High pain threshold, he gets so lost in the pleasure of the moment that he probably doesn't notice he's hurt until he sees the bruises bloom hours later.

Varis, being told for the tenth time this week that Zenos beat up some poor rando that looked minimally skilled in combat: OK I am tired of this being my fucking problem, off to Ala Mhigo with you and let it be somebody else's
It's funny in a fucked up way to me how Varis absolutely acknowledges that his son Zenos is a bloodthirsty psychopath and a demonic unstoppable force who exists only for his own pleasure and impulses but like
Varis my brother in christ you raised the fucking child

Some Zenos' Fate headcanons / prompts.
Zenos is dead. His body will appear again "piloted" by his reaper avatar.
Zenos cannot come back to life due to the laws of the dimension his body is stuck in. Must be rescued from there for him to "return".
Same as above, plus he comes back from the void just to possess somebody else's corpse since he can't gain access to his own.
Zenos' soul returned to Etherys with the WoL. Is attached to them the same way Ardbert was.
Same as above, plus he's waiting for a moment of weakness to take over the WoL's body like Lahabrea took over Thancred's without him being dead.
Zenos and his avatar are actually the same entity. He's a voidsent and has returned to his shard after dying outside of Etherys.
Just as with Solus, Zenos clones exist (he is an important test subject, after all). He doesn't have need of his original body, he can posses a clone.
A species not belonging to Etherys (aliens) will come across his corpse.
Pick your flavour, and have fun!

Zenos is the perfect, timeless antagonist to FFXIV.
People sometimes get confused as to why he’s the villain “face” of FFXIV in other games like Dissidia or Mobius.
The reason is pretty clear: unlike other villains who’s motivations are tied to plotlines with a clear beggining and end (Ultima Weapon, Zodiark, Dragonsong War, etc...), his sole purpose is directly tied to the WoL.
The player’s character will always be a constant in Final Fantasy XIV, no matter how many things may come and go, and thus so will Zenos.
That’s why I trust that he will be back.
Yes, there is the posibility that his motivations may change in the future, that he experiments growth and development as a character, but for that to happen he has to come back.
Fret not, Zenos fans. I truly believe we have yet to see the last of him.

Thinking about how many vg villains out there are given a tragic backstory to get the player to sympathize with them as they give their Villain Speech (tm) to the MC about how they were wronged.
And then you have Zenos, who has the shittiest father in all Garlemald, who is considered a monster who nobody can empathize with and is very lonely (though I doubt he cares), and who is 100% certainly the victim of human experimentation, and he doesn’t mention it even once.
He’s just some dude out there trying to fight his best friend.  Shit father gets in the way? Just murder him. Some weird Ascian dude says he can help? Sure man, whatever is needed. Just bring the WoL over already, he wants his cool big final battle with the only person he (thinks) can understand him, and that’s all.
It feels weirdly motivational how he doesn’t give a shit about his past and everything fcked up that has happened to him, he’s got a clear goal in mind and he’s achieving it no matter what.
