december 3rd. — choi yeonjun
a/n: my first work on this acc! hope y'all like it <33 also english is not my first language, so please excuse any mistakes i made ^
summary: you almost miss yeonjun giving you his sweater on the third of december, too focused on the first snow.
words: 888
warnings: none, pure fluff
the singular rays of sunlight illuminated the room, finding their way inside through the gaps in your window curtains. you watched from the bed, too lazy to get up, but curious enough to wiggle around the bed, trying your best to figure out if it was snowing outside.
you always waited for the first snow to fall, eyes glued to your room’s windows every single morning since you were still in diapers. and even when tired, mind full of all the things to do for work, it was still the first thing you thought of in the morning.
well, alongside your boyfriend.
‘my sleeping beauty finally woke up, i see’ you heard yeonjun say, a warm smile gracing his face as you turned around to greet him with a good morning kiss. ‘quite unusual for you to wake up later than me.’
you yawned, covering your mouth with your hands, as you slowly got up to a sitting position.
‘might use a little sleep when i have a day off’ you explained, feeling the cold breeze hit your body. as always, you and yeonjun left the window slightly open for the night. and just like every single morning, you regretted that more than anything.
your boyfriend seemed to notice the goosebumps forming on your body before you managed to comment anything about them. wasting no time, he made his way towards the closet. latching onto the first sweater he got his hands on, yeonjun quickly handed it to you.
and it just so happened to be your favorite one.
‘you’ll need that one today’ he said motioning to you to put it on ‘it’s really cold outside, and i figured you’d want to go on a walk today. especially with how much it snowed overnight.’
the last sentence seemed to awaken something in you, making you jump out of the bed immediately.
‘it finally snowed?’ you asked with excitement, receiving a nod from yeonjun in response.
as you opened the curtains, you were met with an almost blinding view of the street, all covered in white, as if everything was hidden under a fluffy blanket. your smile widened at the sight, a sudden wave of energy hitting you.
yeonjun looked at your delighted figure in awe. he found your current state almost too cute for him to handle - the way you stood in nothing but shorts and his sweater, one that was definitely too big for you, your happy eyes sparkling full of excitement.
it was cold in the room, yet the sight of you alone made him melt.
‘let’s go out’ you said, turning around to face your boyfriend yet again. ‘i declare a snowball fight, and you can’t say no.’
yeonjun let out a small chuckle.
‘of course sweetheart.’ he answered, not once taking his eyes off of you ‘but first, you should eat something for breakfast. i’m not letting you out of the house with an empty stomach.’
‘alright.’ you said ‘just let me get my journal and i’ll be in the kitchen in no time.’
as yeonjun headed to the kitchen, you quickly went to your night table to grab said journal from the bottom shelf. it was one of your oldest possessions - one that you had since you were only ten years old. you used only to write down the day of the first snow each year, something people considered silly of you to do, but you did it nonetheless. it was almost a tradition for you at that point.
you walked into the kitchen, the sight of two already prepared plates of pancakes gracing your eyes.
‘thanks, yeonjun’ you said, giving him a peck on the lips before sitting down. ‘you really are the best.’
‘anything for you, sweetheart’ he murmured, sitting down across from you. ‘have you written down the date already?’ he asked, eyes drifting to the journal laying next to your food.
‘haven’t got time to check the date yet’ you explained, opening the notebook on the first empty page you found. ‘remind me please, what day is it?’
‘it’s the third of december.’ yeonjun answered, pretending to think about it before saying the date.
and suddenly, something clicked in your brain.
‘you remembered.’ you said, looking up at him, just to be greeted with a sly smile already on his face. ‘you really remembered about that stupid sweater trend i told you about last year, didn’t you?’
‘i had to’ he said, taking a bite out of his breakfast. ‘i couldn’t leave my girlfriend without a sweater on such an important day after all, right?’
‘and you didn’t say a word about it when giving it to me because you tried to check if i’ll remember’ you said to yourself, your boyfriend nodding as an answer ‘you’re an idiot, yeonjun.’
‘but you still love me.’ he clarified, gaining an eye roll from you.
‘those things don’t exclude each other, jun.’ you chuckled under your breath. ‘you’re still the biggest idiot i know, no matter how much i love you.’
he smiled, giving you a kiss on the forehead.
‘you know, this will be our tradition now.’ he said, making you look up at him yet again, eyes catching his.
‘from now on, you will not be left without one of my sweaters on every following third of december.’
