I feel like pre-character development Xar sorta has the personality of a stereotypical cartoon high school bully but like, if it never even crossed their minds to bully people that are weaker than them.
He's got that sort of charisma and "I'm better than you, everybody loves me" sort of attitude (because he wants so, so badly for his father to see him as strong and worth being proud of) but he adds onto this statement with "So if you choose to follow me then I will protect you with my life" and that's part of the reason why I love him so much.
