Hi, i just read your timeline and im curious. The Sochi Grand Prix happened on 6-9 December (2012) and in the anime they say Victors 27 years old there. But according to official data(and your timeline) Victor was born 'December 25,1985'. So shouldn't he have been 26 going on 27, (like 19 days from turning 27) instead? do you think they just made a mistake with his canon b-day and the episode? Thanks!
WOW it's been a dog's age. LOL So glad to see people still using this thing. As for the discrepancy, they are all over the place in the anime. These guys were SO rushed to try and get this anime out before it was shut down that I think stuff like this is inevitable. 19 days from your birthday isn't really all that far, so I think it's fair to say that they were 'anticipating' that he was going to be 27 soon. It happens all the time in real life - just jumping that short gap to the next number.
I take everything with a grain of salt, and use it as a guideline, not as written in stone because they had to change things up to avoid copyright issues / royalties - and they were pushing this Anime out as fast as they could because Studio Mappa gave them a hard deadline that if they missed, the whole thing would be scrapped.
They had budget cuts and the whole thing was under fire the whole time they were making it. The fact that they got it out at all is a small miracle. So don't worry too much about little things like this  - they didn't have the -time- to make sure everything lined up properly.

Hi there! Sorry for bothering you in advance. Could you please tell me where I can find the official information about YOI timeline? I found your old post and it made a lot of sense to me, but since you’re saying that the creators have officially revealed the dates… I’ve tried to find them but I can’t for some reason 😅 Maybe I’m looking in the wrong places. Thank you very much and have a great day!
No problem!!   I made this timeline when I was neck deep in the fandom and spent a LOT of time comparing the actual seasons to what we saw in the series.
The ‘official’ dates, as it were, weren’t released in any sort of press release - but were release in the Blue Ray DVDs that came out after the series had released in the U.S.  One of the official dates is during the Cup of China, I believe - they have the year in an ad in the background during Chris’ Barcelona routine on the Blu Ray Version that solidifies the actual years.   I think I remember that’s where I saw the date.
This was several years ago so I don’t remember all the details - but I do know that the creators chose to change the schedules around, I presume to avoid a few things:
1) definitive parallels between fictional characters and real people 2) Maybe lawsuit from the ISU at that time? 3) to make sure that it stays in a ‘fictional world’ because the schedules don’t line up
I haven’t been back through to correct any of the timeline dates because I just haven’t had the motivation or the time - but the timeline was never meant to be anything but a general reference for me for RP purposes.
I’m glad it’s become so popular! And still gets notes! And that it’s helping so many other people, too!
My advice would be not to get too hung up on the little details - since it’s intentionally left just vague enough in the series to keep it from aligning with real life.  <3
Thank you for your question!  Go forth and enjoy!

A behind the scenes look at creating a YOI nendo ice rink.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Usually I just throw up my art or the pictures I take of my nendos with a short blurb. This project, however, I felt deserved to have a little more context and I thought people might like to see what went into making the end result.
I had the idea to do Duetto customs of the Stammi Victor outfit ever since I started collecting the YOI nendos. I had painted my Yuuri a while ago, but finally got around to finishing Victor after I got the idea to do this project for a digital Christmas card exchange.
Tumblr media
Yuuri took me approximately between 4-5 hours when I painted him. Because it’s been cold here recently, Victor took about 7 hours since I needed to wait longer between coats to dry. In retrospect, I wish I would have painted them at the same time.
Tumblr media
I was really happy to find a toy hockey play set that had nice sized boards that I could use for my project. They come as solid white pieces, so I taped them off to paint the bottom and top parts a dark blue. This took a while, again because of waiting for paint to dry. I ended up not liking the tops being painted, so I scrapped that and returned them back to white.
Tumblr media
I searched through screenshots from episodes 11 and 12 looking for the board ads that I wanted to recreate and also for the on ice logos. ISO is the skating organization replacement for the real world ISU in YOI, a detail I hadn’t really paid attention to in my several watch throughs before doing this. I used Krita (the program I use to do all of my digital art) to draw out the designs and got a little bit of help from my significant other with the fonts since Krita’s text tool admittedly sucks. I don’t currently have a printer, so all of this and the backdrop were all sent to Office Depot to be printed. I got an interesting call at 9AM the next morning after placing the order online for pickup from the confused print department about the backdrop. (Yes, it was supposed to look like that.)
Tumblr media
My board ads are attached with double sided tape and the on ice logos were tacked down to a foam core board. I used parchment paper to cover the logos and give them that below the ice look. All of that was then covered by a clear vinyl desk blotter. I’m really happy with the glossy surface and reflections that the vinyl provides.
Tumblr media
The inside on ice dimensions are 18″x26″. Here is a Yuuri for scale. >.<
Tumblr media
Sometimes you have to improvise light holders.
Tumblr media
All lighting was done practically with these RGB LED puck lights and the spot light was my significant other holding an LED flashlight at my nendos while I took pictures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally these are the unedited photos with the stands in. The only editing done on the final shots that were at the top of the post was to edit out the stands. I’m super happy with the results and thank you for reading if you got this far!

I’d also like to point out that the name Georgi is also a version of Yuri. Literally everyone in the series is named ‘Success’ or Winner or some version of this
Yuri is a variant of George
Georgi is a variant of George
So, Georgi is a Yuri, too.
my favorite part personally about Yuri on Ice is how they decided to have two characters named Yuri for literally NO other reason than to be confusing. And when Yuri #2 points out that this is confusing he gets told “you’re right that IS a problem, your name is Spaghettio now” and everyone just straight-faced rolls with this for the rest of the series. Including Spaghettio.

They have begun - just over 10K people watching.  Unfortunately, there are not English subtitles. Put it on mute and go about your searching if you don’t want to listen - but please contribute to the viewer count.
Thank you.
hey! so for those of you who didn’t already know, i currently live in Japan, where same-sex marriage is not yet legal. tomorrow afternoon, the Japanese Diet is having a hearing concerning same-sex marriage, and they’re “gauging interest” based on the viewership of the livestream. basically, if people don’t watch, they’ll just write off the issue as niche and avoid it for as long as possible.
i’m posting about this here because, for ~some reason~, the hearing is to start at 1pm. on a regular thursday. when people are at work.
so, for those of you who will be awake at 1pm JST on thursday the 26th of november, i ask you to please contribute to the youtube live viewer count. i’ll put the link in a reblog.
thanks in advance!

You have an older post concerning Viktor's skating carrer. I really liked it, but I didn't unterstand one thing. How could Victor be 16 at the Junior World Championship in 2001 when he is 27/28 in 2014?
I made that post before they had revealed the dates for when the series took place - and so now a lot of ages/ dates that I had made some scientific guesses about are completely wrong. I’m delighted YOI is making a bit of a comeback but a lot of the stuff I posted when I first watched it is now a little skewed.
But, if he was 16 in 2001 and you add 13 years to that .. you get 29 .. he was 28 until Dec. 25th that year.
