oooh that makes some sense, she maybe likes them a bit in that “fae way”, I mean, look at Cardan and his “so you’re a folk crushing on a human? disgusting, throw ‘em in the nearby river” philosophy. Also, Oriana is a firm believer of rules and etiquette and Vivi was openly a rebellious smart ass mouth and even if Jude followed the rules up until tcp, she had a temper and was never particularly good at hiding her disdain for being forced into compliance and submission. Taryn was her favorite I guess, since they shared interests and she was always polite and pleasant (on the outside at least).
I never understood the animosity towards Oriana from Jude POV. Yes, Oriana was a nagger but she was a (rightfully) concerned adult. Madoc raised Jude to his image and might have spent more time with her, but Oriana is the one being helpful in times of need if Jude took the help. . . : (and who didn't stab her)

I think it’s bc even though Oriana worries and cares about the girls, she doesn’t really likes them, and we know this isn’t just the voices in Jude’s head telling her nonsense bc it’s something Oak mentions in tpt too. She even told Oak in that flashback in tsh that she wishes Madoc never went looking for Vivi and told Jude that if she were him she would’ve sent them away long ago. Oriana isn’t bad or cruel but for all her love for subtlety she’s pretty blatant in letting people know when she doesn’t like someone and doesn’t want them around.

omg and y’all remember what else? Jude told Cardan that even when she thought he was her enemy, she still! missed! him!!! GOSH that’s something that only a while back in the story she would never admit even if her life depended on it. Point is: they both had other motives for marriage? Yeah, but the main reason was love. They wanted to be with each other and this “bargain” was the excuse they had at the time to be together without admitting to any feelings outright
I was thinking about Jude and Cardan’s marriage. Cardan came up with this plan bc he wanted his will back, which was perfectly valid and fair, but when you think things through, other than having a brand new wife that he loved a lot, this union didn’t benefit him in anything else. Marriage between them only binds him and she was the daughter of a two time traitor, murderer of an ambassador/prince/his fucking brother and mortal. She wasn’t the best candidate for a queen. He really was willing to give her a fancy title, a crown and all the power she wanted and settle for whatever crumbs of affection she might give him in return.
On the other hand, at that point in their relationship, I think that Jude accepted the marriage proposal bc 1) she secretly loved Cardan and thought that this new station in life and relationship status would make it safe to love him openly and was hopeful that he might love her back 2) she really wanted to be queen and have absolute power 3) she did not want to be so scared anymore. In that order. Jude spent the exile angry and cursing and planning Cardan’s demise but she never took off her wedding ring. Girly was feeling absolutely hurt and heartbroken and betrayed and foolish and I’m pretty damn sure she was suffering a lot more about supposedly being dumped by her new hubby than for being the queen in exile.
Anyways, young love is crazy am I right.
