I have woken up at five am in the morning with this single thought:

Why wouldn't Furuya Rei get popular?

He is by far the only character in the series that will never get full closure, that will never have anyone to give him closure by the end of it. He can't. It's impossible. Anyone who had any meaningful and personal connections to him is dead.

He will probably live.

If only because Akai would possibly intervene last minute. And possibly Takaaki.

But besides his duty for Japan and wanting to keep Hiromitsu's sense of justice alive, and Haro, what's going to keep him alive after the Black Organization?

And there is a mystery there.

What's going to happen? What's the end goal?

Everyone else seems to get a benefit or some kind of closure out of this. Everyone else involved have a life to move onto after the Black Organization is done with.

And what of Furuya Rei? Other than revenge what's he going to get out of this?

He's just gonna live because of Haro and Japan in the end? Is that it? That's the end goal?

That's his happy end?

Green tea and Japan and Haro are the three things keeping him sane at this point.

Oh yeah.

He's also the only character in the series that has no romantic interest that could feel right.

Sure, there is Azusa, but I would argue that his attachments to her can't be that strong beyond co workers, and she doesn't show inclination to feel otherwise.

Everyone elses romance works somehow, someway, and like, makes sense, and feels right??? I am not awake enough to explain.

Wether they are childhood friends or not even.

Rei has no one, the most romantic thing he has is his hate against Akai, and possibly the friendship he had with Hiro before he had died.

I get the argument "Oh he you know he's eye candy that's why he's popular" and the "akam" but I am going to digress with my over-analysis of everything and say people aren't that simple.

More than just eye candy he is this tragic character, and possibly the only character that has no one to turn to. Will have no one to turn to.

Unless we count Haro.

And at this rate that's probably going to be the case.

He has this death flag with him and Haro is the only thing keeping at bay.

That's the end to my five am rant.

Aries Mu : The beautiful and innocent face who lived as a hermit with a child during 13 years and the one who gonna kick your ass.

Taurus Alderan : The big teddy bear always forgetten and who had his ass kicked several times. But we still love him.

Gemini Saga : The badass one with a split personality who use a Galaxian Explosion towards his enemies. He doesn't kick your ass, he blows it.

Gemini Kanon : The drama queen with a brother complex who's gonna become your favorite because he is badass and fabulous.

Cancer Deathmask : The sociopath who used to put his victim's face on walls but he fell in love with a cute girl and now you just can't hate him.

Pisces Aphrodite : He uses roses to fight and is the most gorgeous saint of Athena's army. Anyway, he is just FABULOUS !
