Sometimes I wish to be as free as a mermaid

I know lighthouse maintenance is probably difficult but telling me i go up and down a set of stairs everyday with a lantern/flashlight as my light source, the smell of sea air constantly present, the general ocean ambience and being near to the sea, surrounded by silly seagulls, all i do is light up the big thing at the top of my tall tower everyday, i will be the first to meet mermaids and magical ocean/shoreline creatures , and little to no contact with people. Like cmon. I know there's most likely more to this but please just one chance.

Merfolk have 2 forms, one more aquatic and one that allows them to spend some time on land. Their thighs stay covered in scales and their genitals aren't visible in either form. It can get very uncomfortable though if the scales dry too much, so they avoid spending too much time without a large body of water nearby. An old tale says that if you get a scale from a merperson as a gift, you will have good luck for the rest of your life, and so they're popular betrothal gifts between mer & human couples.
