There's all this discourse around why "pathetic man" is a Type of man that women are attracted to, (and/or the skinny/frail types that are so reviled by other men and by some trad women) and there's a number of reasons that can be given for this phenomenon ranging from "being quirky/not liking a crowd pleaser" to "the inherent allure of vulnerability" to "she just thinks she will have better chemistry with a man who focuses on intellectual pursuits most of the time" BUT you also can't overlook the powerful feminine fantasy of "passionately kissing your lame husband in front of the haters who said he would have to change everything about himself to find love, while they cope and seethe"
