I've come to realize that the more time I spend studying Korean, the more I want to just rush through it and get it over with. I'm losing interest in learning the language and would rather spend my time studying Mandarin. I have taken a lot more interest in Chinese language and culture.
I stan Stray Kids, I tolerate BTS (affectionately), but I've never taken an interest in anything more than that. For a while, I did take great interest in the language and spent most of my time during the pandemic studying it as much as possible. I even tried getting myself into K Dramas, but I couldn't sit through anything. Only Squid Game, and we all know how violent that was. Heck, I don't even watch C Dramas, but I do watch a lot of Chinese cinema, and I've been in the mood for a lot of Chinese period films.
I can't pinpoint exactly what's turning me off from wanting to continue learning Korean, but I'm guessing it could be the bad experiences I've had with perverted Korean men and everyone else who isn't Korean judging me for listening to K Pop because I'm a white American woman.
Maybe it's because of my ex, who was Korean, (ugly as hell btw but it wasn't looks or ethnicity I was after) who was engaged and chasing after 3 other women the whole time we were dating.
Either way, I think I'm going to quit.
