straight guy geologist describing a vertically oriented igneous intrusion to his buddy: it’s a . well. i’m not sure i can reclaim this one just get over here
listen, if you want to be with someone that has ADHD and doesn’t / can’t take medicine for it, you have to understand that we just forget. Yes, we know you had us write it down and put it somewhere obvious, we still forgot. Yes, you just said it 10 times, we still forgot. Yes, you literally, to our face, seconds before, told us in detail, we turned around and forgot immediately. we forget, everything, immediately, most of the time.
Worst part is that it's the tourist-y version of us. Those blogs want the location but don't want the locals. They want us out of their beautiful vistas and their beaches and their hotels and their restaurants. Because the south doesn't belong to us anymore, it's all for tourists.
My mom's trying to buy a house in Cádiz. I've lived in San Fernando half my life and they've lived most of their lives there. My mom figured that with her savings and her knowledge of her city, she'd find a good neighborhood but it was all... wrong. She called me, crying, said she didn't feel like home anymore. I had to talk her out of just giving up, and now looking at Málaga or Cádiz or any coast-adjacent province is bound to get me fucking depressed.
And while tourists think of my country as if it were entirely Andalucía, the rest of the country fucking mocks us and hates us. Except in the summer, of course. They hate our accents, they hate going to our schools and seeing mostly dark-skinned people, they hate our music if it's not infused with pop.
People wear the south like an aesthetic and use it for whatever they want, while actively mocking our accents.
Sometimes I come across Tumblr blogs devoted to Spain but that won't talk about inside politics or history, just about the Mediterranean, the history of the state as a whole, and Spanish culture and food understood as Andalusian / Mediterranean.
I guess the bloggers - generally USAmericans -, even if they offer it as super informative and politically unbiased, want to write about the idea of Spain they have, not about Spain.
it really is so uncomfortable being a trans man in cis centric conversations of feminism. I just wonder. do they know about people like me? do they care? if I brought it up to them, how would they react? Do they expect me to be their human shield?
we talk a lot about ohhhh what if my calling is to be the greatest mammoth hunter ever and I'm wasting my talents in the modern era but we never think about what if Thog from 30,000 BCE was the only person ever born who could get a sub-7min Donkey Kong Country any%, and he never got the chance. what about thog
