simplicity and happiness
10 BASIC PRINCIPLES OF SIMPLICITY  AND HAPPINESS
Identify what’s important to you, put first things first, and focus on those things. Avoid distractions!
Simplicity changes with the seasons of your life. Your focus now may not be your focus in a few years. stay intentional and re-evaluate so you don’t get stuck doing things that no longer matter.
Busy is not hurried. You can be busy but make sure you’re not busy with tasks that do not serve you or those you love. One key benefit of simplicity is that you have time to pay attention to those you love and love them well.
Generally speaking, we complicate our lives, but that’s not God’s design. Adversity is real and tragedy strikes but many of our problems are collateral damage from a complicated life.
Living a distracted life leads to complexity, confusion, and discontent. Stay focused!
Less is more in almost all areas of life. Make sure this truth applies to your spending habits, calendar, commitments, and expectations of yourself. Sometimes good intentions can rob us of simplicity and happiness.
Money is not evil but the pursuit of it can complicate our lives or distract us from pursuing a full and simple life. If you are constantly in a state of striving and unrest, find out how valuable rest can be for creating a life of simplicity, happiness, and peace.
Simplicity helps us maintain our focus so we can be fully present in each moment of life.
Don’t let anything own you. Being indebted to someone or something means you don’t have control of your life.
Simplicity is different for everyone. This is your journey. Do not compare or align your life with anyone else. It’s important that you define what simplicity means to you and then find your simple.

self-care tips
my dear friends,
what you are feeling is not something that should just be ignored, but something very significant.  the feeling inside you will not easily disappear just because you decide to suppress or ignore them. many psychological problems come about when repression becomes a habit and the energy of those suppressed emotions is unable to find a healthy outlet. just a stagnant water becomes fetid and toxic, so it is with our emotions.
but it’s not too late. from now on, before going along with what others wish you to do, please listen to the voice inside you, telling you what you truly want. even when you feel yourself buffeted by constant demands, if you really do not want something, don’t try to push through with it, exhausting yourself to the point that you are no longer able to cope. Instead, try to make others understand what you are feeling by expressing it in words. don’t worry that expressing yourself will cause the other person to dislike you and the relationship to become strained. if the other person knew how you really felt, she probably wouldn’t have made such demands of you.
even when everyone says, “let’s all have coffee,” if you want a chai latte, it’s okay to speak up and say, “i’d like a chai latte instead”. we consider it good to be good to others, but don’t forget that you have responsibility to be good to your self first.
