Blog 9 - Cynthia Beth Rubin
Cynthia Beth Rubin is a new media artist whose works frequently evoke cultural memories and the imagined past by intertwining photographic elements in complex layers of representation and abstraction. Recently, Rubin's work has shifted from explorations of the vestiges human history into conversation with Nature. She is interested in how Nature affects our built environment, and how both the microscopic plankton and the macroscopic landscape are part of our world.
Rubin began experimenting with digital media in the early 1980's. The transition from painting to the electronic arts prompted new experimentation in both subject and formats of presentation of her imagery. Working in still images, moving images, and with inter-activity, Rubin now works independently and in collaboration.

Blog 8 - Favorite Artist - Cyril Rolando
I chose Cyril Rolando as my favorite artist of the day because of how beautiful and unique her work is. The vibrant and warm colors she uses in every piece of work she does really shows her attention to detail. My favorite work of her shows a man in the middle of a forest playing a piano. The reason I connect with this image so much is because I also love to play the Piano.

Conceptual Art - Bruce Beasley - Assignment 6
I believe the artist I did my research in fits into the category of Conceptual Art. Conceptual art, sometimes simply called conceptualism, is art in which the concepts or ideas involved in the work take precedence over traditional aesthetic and material concerns. Some works of conceptual art, sometimes called installations, may be constructed by anyone simply by following a set of written instructions.

I chose this piece of graffiti art done by Bansky because ever since we began looking at his work and the graffiti he has done I have loved all of his work. I think he doesn't just graffiti because he’s bored I think he does it to tell a story. The reason I like this art so much is because it looks like a wall in a town that may be run down but he brings it to life by adding the kids having fun. His Black Graffiti is my favorite because of how bold it sticks out on the wall.

I love this mural because of all the different colors that are on display. This Mural is beautiful to me because not only does it represent a piece of History but it has a modern touch to it as well. For me, murals such as this one really catch my attention because of the many colors like I mentioned before. There is so much going on in this Mural I love how your eye just cant stay still.

I really enjoyed reading the article titled “A History of Computer Art.” I enjoyed it because I am not too familiar with computer art so it was interesting to learn about how far computer art has come since the 1950′s. What I found most interesting about the article was in the 1960′s when they were discussing the Bell Labs and how they developed the picture of the Reclining Nude. I thought it was so interesting how something they were doing as a joke ended up being an overnight sensation.  The artwork I have posted above is done by James Faure Walker, who can be described as both a Digital Artist and a Painter. The artwork is titled ‘Blue Bowls” and I love it because Blue is one of my favorite colors as well as how crazy the lines are. I love how there is no symmetry and that its all strung together.
