Everything I Ever Wanted Part 1/4
The much anticipated sequel for "Not All That Glitters is Gold" the omegaverse epic that I recently wrapped up. The first chapter is here as I highly recommend you read it first.
Each chapter is based on something Steve wanted from the first story. Being a top omega escort and retiring at the top of his game. Having alpha health be brought to the forefront and actually studied. Being married and bonded. And finally having children of his own.
Just a few notes here: This not to say that surrogacy or adopt is lesser or not as important as biological birth. Because it absolutely isn't. This is about Steve being told he was only good for one thing and to learn his worth was far greater than anyone imagined.
This story is mature. There are sex scenes in here as well as full nudity, but also the first chapter has some awful pretty non-binary and sex worker prejudices that if you feel like you can't handle, don't read.
Each chapter is however long it took me to fill out that part. So some chapters are shorter than others, some times by almost 1000 words.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this as much as you enjoyed the first one!
****
Steve had finished packing up the last of his stuff. Chrissy would be moving in next week and fill the suite with everything that made her unique.
But as sad as Steve was to be leaving, he knew it was time. Twelve years as one of the best escorts Starcourt had ever seen was long enough, he thought.
A warm pair of arms wrapped around his waist and a wet kiss was placed on his bonding gland.
“Hey, honey,” Eddie cooed. “You ready to go?”
Steve wrapped his arms around Eddie’s arms and sighed happily. “Yeah, love, I am.”
“You going to miss this?” he murmured, squeezing Steve tightly.
Steve hummed, thinking about it. “To some extent, but doing this well into my fifties and sixties was never in the cards for me.”
“No?”
He shook his head. “I was always too much of a romantic for that. When I first learned I was infertile it was a relief that I didn’t have to live to my parents’ high expectations for me. I had looked up to Roxie because they were living the life young me always wanted, freedom as an omega.”
“I’m glad you got that freedom, sweetheart,” Eddie said softly. “You really grew into your own. If you want to keep working for another couple of years, you’ve got it. I won’t stop you.”
Steve turned in his grasped and kissed him soundly. “No, Eds. This is what I want. I want a life with you. I want to bond and mate you. I want to carry your pups. As many as you want. Because if I was given the choice as a sixteen year old to have that freedom I always craved and the chance to marry and bare children? I would have taken it in a heartbeat. But when they thought I was infertile, the glamour of being an escort was the only choice for me.”
Eddie nuzzled Steve’s scent gland. “Okay, Stevie.” He nipped under Steve’s jaw. “Fuck, you are so hot when you get all passionate about shit. I could have you right here, right now on this floor if you’d let me.”
Steve slipped out of his embrace with a giggle. “As tempting as that would be, darling, the movers will be here in ten minutes and the cleaners in thirty. And I’m not as fast as I used to be.”
Eddie huffed impatiently.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Eddie and Steve shared a confused glance.
Steve walked to the door and opened it.
He stood there in shock for a moment. There on the side of the door frame was Roxie. Steve’s idol.
“Holy shit,” he breathed. “Come on in. You’ll pardon the mess, I’m moving out today.”
Roxie stepped in.
They were as beautiful in person as they had been on the poster on Steve’s wall as a teenager.
They were tall and thin, with long black hair and piercing blue eyes. No one was sure what race Roxie was because they had an exotic look no matter where they go.
Roxie was also the first non-binary omega escort the world had ever seen.
In short Steve was enamored.
Eddie gave his shoulder a squeeze. “I’m going to meet the movers.”
He kissed Steve’s cheek and slipped out of the door that Roxie had just walked through.
“He’s cute,” Roxie said with a smile.
Steve blushed. “I like him.”
Roxie threw back their head and laughed. “I would hope so considering you’re bonding next month.”
Steve cocked his head and grinned. “Yeah...”
Roxie held up their prizes, two champagne flutes and a bottle of champagne. “I’ve come to celebrate!”
Steve took the glasses and wandered over to the sofa. It hadn’t been moved yet, so they at least had a place to sit.
Roxie produced a bottle opener from the confines of their coat pocket and opened the champagne. Steve held out the two glasses and Roxie poured the bubbling liquid.
“Come, come,” they said. “Sit. Tell me all about the hottie that just left.”
So Steve did.
“I’m happy for you,” Roxie said. “It took me years to find my soulmate.”
Steve blinked. “Are you–no...really?”
“A golden omega? Oh yes. Really,” Roxie said with a laugh. “I just didn’t meet my bondmate until I was much older, and we never wanted children so we bonded and just never share my heats.”
“Doesn’t that get lonely?” Steve asked. “Spending your heats without your bondmate?”
Roxie shook their head. “No. We still share his ruts and we use as much protection as we can. But, no. I’ve gotten used to having my heats alone, adding another person would just be complicating things at this point.”
“I guess that makes sense,” Steve said with a nod. “I guess I’m young enough to miss the connection that he and I share during his ruts when I have my heats.”
Roxie smiled. “I hear you had to jump through a few hoops to bond.”
Steve sighed heavily and took a long drink, nearly draining the glass. “It was a mess. I would be the first official golden omega to retire from active escorting and that was something they wanted to carefully curate. They didn’t want a scandal like what the church had last year when Chrissy broke open the illegal nature of the amount of omegas they took in.”
“That was a nightmare,” Roxie agreed. “I was shocked by it all.”
“I’m just grateful that I’ll have a few months to prepare for the fallout before the shit hits the fan,” Steve said. “After all it won’t come out until Eddie and I get pregnant.”
Roxie hummed their agreement.
“If you’re really lucky,” they said, “maybe a year or more.”
Steve threw back his head and laughed. “That’s what Eddie’s hoping for, but I’m fine with either, honestly. My two biggest dreams growing up were having pups and being an escort, how that would have worked out biologically, I had no idea, I was just dumb kid. But actually getting both feels like a miracle.”
Roxie smiled, their eyes crinkling. “I’m almost sad you’re a golden omega, because I really thought you would be the one to take my place as top earner when I retired next year.”
His jaw dropped and his eyes went wide. “Wait, really?” He couldn’t believe it. Roxie retire? That was unfathomable. Oh and the other thing, too.
Roxie must of read his mind because they laughed. “Yes, I’m retiring. I turn sixty-five next year, and I really can’t see myself doing it for much longer. And as for you, yes, darling. You. You are the best escort this industry has ever seen and you have the receipts to prove it.”
“They do want me to come back and teach the next batch of incoming escorts,” Steve said with a sigh smile. “From the ages of sixteen to eighteen, I’ll be teaching them everything I learned to make them better. And that’s more important than any glamour or glitz being an escort could possibly give me.”
“Then the agency is in better hands than I thought!” Roxie cried, gleefully clapping their hands together.
Steve smiled and shook his head. “You know, it’s funny. The only reason my dad even allowed me to be an escort was because there had never been a Harrington omega who wasn’t a trophy wife. They never worked a day in their lives. So when I offered to become a wet nurse to save up money to become a teacher, he blanched and said that I was going to be an escort. At least I could make money for them that way.”
He poured himself another glass and filled Roxie’s when they put out their own too.
“Well,” Roxie said smiling over their glass, “as long as you don’t start work until after you’ve bonded Eddie, that could still be true about the whole ‘no Harrington ever being a teacher’ thing.”
Steve laughed, his eyes squeezed tight, mouth open wide and just laughing with his whole chest. “Here’s to that!”
They clinked their glasses together. They talked for a little while longer, but soon Roxie had left and the movers and the cleaners filed in.
“These knothead movers,” Eddie said darkly, “were trying to duck out of doing the job because you were celebrating still.”
The older of the alpha moving team glared at him. “How was I to know that Roxie was in there?”
“From believing me when I told you?” Eddie asked, waving his arms out in front of him.
“He is so gorgeous,” one of the omega cleaners twittered.
“They,” Steve said with a frown. “Roxie uses they/them. Unless you're talking about someone else.”
The cleaner rolled her eyes. “He was a him for decades and then decides to come out non-binary? Whatever.”
“Out!” Steve said, barely containing his rage. “I will put in complaints with your bosses and management will get in new teams if they know what’s good for them.”
Eddie grinned. “You’ve got it, babe.”
Everyone filed out, the other omega cleaners hissing and snarling their dismissal at the other girl. The movers got what they wanted so they didn’t care.
As the lead mover was passing by Steve, he muttered, “Slut.”
The alpha was on the ground trapped in an arm bar, Eddie’s knee in the middle of his back.
The alpha cried out in surprise and pain. “What the fuck?!”
“That’s my omega you just insulted,” Eddie snarled, his alpha fangs extending. “And I don’t take kindly to that sort of thing. I will make sure that your company never gets a single celebrity client ever again. Steve will make sure Starcourt never uses you again, nor any other escort agency.” He yanked on the man’s arm causing him to gasp in pain. “Now I’m going to let you up, nice and slow and then you are going to apologize to Steve. Understand?”
The man nodded and Eddie got up. After a moment the alpha mover got to his feet.
“I’m waiting,” Steve huffed. His arms were crossed over his chest and he was leaning on his back leg.
“I’m sorry I called you a slut,” the man groused, rubbing the arm Eddie had yanked.
“Just because my work is different from yours doesn’t mean it’s not work,” Steve hissed. He waved his hand. “Now get out of my sight.”
The man followed his team out and Eddie slammed the door behind them.
“I’ve already contacted Powell,” Steve said. “They’ve already blacklisted both companies and have new crews being sent over.”
“Do we need to be here when they come?” Eddie asked.
Steve shook his head. “I was just cutting it fine getting the last of my stuff being packed away.”
Eddie grinned and pulled Steve in for a kiss. “Then why don’t you and I get out of here and celebrate a little bit on our own?”
“That sounds good,” Steve said, throwing his arms around Eddie’s neck. “Because that little display of yours taking down that mover was super hot.”
Eddie drew Steve in closer so they were flush against each other. “Yeah?”
Steve bit his bottom lip and nodded.
“Did my pretty little omega get wet watching his alpha take down a disgusting pig?” Eddie teased, cupping Steve’s ass with both hands.
“So wet,” Steve breathed. “Almost as wet as our first meeting, rockstar.”
Eddie licked his lips slowly and then nodded.
“Your stuff is already at my place,” he growled. “So I’m going to take you back there and fuck you into the mattress. Sound good, baby?”
Steve kissed him deeply. “Sounds so good.”

Omegaverse BTS
I was loving people's reactions to the final chapter but wanted to talk a couple of things the name of Steve and Eddie's kid and Tommy Hagan. Because in this 'verse he's so fascinating. Thanks for the comment @eyehartart!
I went back and forth on this so many times you have no idea. At first Dustin (as in Henderson) was their son because the only ones mentioned of the Party are Max and Lucas. So I thought why not be the reason Dustin is never mentioned is because he isn't born yet.
Then when I first started writing the sequel I wanted the whole party at the wedding. And after much thought, their first child is merely named after Dustin and will be explored deeper in the sequel.
Tommy, Carol, and Steve (Nancy and Jonathan, too, just not Corroded Coffin and Chrissy and Jason or Robin) all went to the same high school. All born to rich parents.
It was expected that Carol would be the omega and the two boys would be alphas.
Steve presented first and got tested 24 hours after his first heat. Carol and Tommy commiserating with him being infertile.
Then Carol presents as an alpha, so now everyone expecting Tommy to be an omega as Tommy and Carol are the top couple at school (after Steve and Nancy broke up).
He presents as an omega and then he too is infertile (actually infertile none of the other omegas you meet in the story who are escorts aren't golden omegas, just Steve.)
Carol immediately dumps him and starts sleeping around with fertile omegas.
Also, like Steve's parents Tommy's parents blew up when they found out he was infertile, but they did the golden test. So not only were they "saddled" with a "broken" omega they were out a lot of money too.
Tommy actually wanted to be a wet nurse for the elite, as his tough guy persona was just that, an act. He wanted to go into one of the other nurturing fields but his parents forbade him.
They were going to get their money back from having such a useless son.
They were expecting him to get at least close to Steve's million dollar cherry price, but only got a third that.
His parents were livid again. But they took their money and never looked back.
In the eight or nine years it's been since they were auctioned off, Tommy's parents have never contacted him. They made sure he got into the best schools for the skills he would need as an escort, paying for it out of his bid price. But he's never received so much as a post card from them.
It took him three years to pay off his debt while it only took Steve less than one year.
So despite all the training and everything he got, he was never as popular as Steve.
Resentment grew.
He stayed with Starcourt Services because he had to prove to Carol, to his parents, to the world that he was better than Steve. That if he just had more time, he could beat Steve as one of the top earners at the agency.
It never happened. The wage gap between Steve and Tommy grew with each passing year.
And then the events of the story take place and Tommy does not have a good time.
So when Starcourt washes their hands of him he becomes a teacher.
His first year is tough, but rewarding. Only on the last day Tommy gets told he might not have a job come August. And he just breaks down. A parent of one of his now former pupils comes in because she left her jacket in his class. The parent is a single female alpha whose bondmate died shortly after the birth of their daughter due to complications.
And she just helps him through it. Then over the summer she helps him get a job at another school and they fall in love. Since now he's at different school then her daughter Tommy doesn't feel like a conflict of interest and they bond.
Now that's not to say that all this justifies Tommy's behavior. Because it absolutely doesn't. But I wanted him to find a happier life outside of being an escort as sort of a "this job can chew up and spit out and you still be a person at the end of it all".

Eddie, on a live-stream: Steve is a master at making a situation as awkward as possible and it’s not even an accident. He does it on purpose.
Steve: It’s the easiest way to get someone to leave. Everybody wants to see something embarrassing. No one wants to be a part of it.
Eddie: Yeah, for example. One time I got pulled over for speeding and Steve told the cop - unprompted, I was going to take the ticket - that the reason we were speeding was because I was about to shit my pants.
Eddie: Which, ha ha ha. You’ve used that one before, whatever. We were coming home from the park and the park we went to at the time, hid their trash cans so you could never find them.
Eddie: So he makes things infinitely more mortifying for me by holding up a doggie bag of dog shit and said that I had already had one accident.
Steve: Didn’t get a ticket though, did you? You’re welcome.
Eddie: I’m not thanking you!
Steve: I think I’ve actually perfected getting people to go away. I’m really good at it.
Eddie: Yeah, as evident by your entire childhood.
Steve:
Eddie: I’m so sorry. I don’t know why I said that.

Not All That Glitters is Gold Part 17
This is the last chapter of this story. I do have the sequel halfway written and it will be most of the way, if not all the way done before I post the first chapter.
It's called "Everything I Ever Wanted" and will be four chapters, each based on a part of Steve's new life I wanted to highlight. Retirement, Steve's charity, the bonding and mating, and the birth of their first child and the fallout with his parents.
I will still keep the Glitters tag list for the sequel. I wouldn't normally, but it's such a little thing, it's just easier that way. If you want to be taken off the list for the sequel, let me know.
Here is Steve's happily ever after. As it should be.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 Part 14 Part 15 Part 16
Tumblr media
Steve hated his heats before, but he loathed them now. Now he had an alpha he wanted to share it with, only they weren’t allowed to.
It was only a mini heat to clear out a minor faux bond and would barely last twenty four hours, but they would be the most miserable twenty four hours of his life and that included the twenty four hours after he learned he was infertile.
But Robin was the best handler in the business for a reason. The second his body temperature spiked, Xander and her got Eddie out and into her apartment, still in rut as he was.
Then she rebuilt Steve’s nest from scratch to perfection with the minor edition of Eddie’s handkerchief under his pillow.
The handkerchief plus, Eddie’s scent still sending out waves toward Steve’s apartment would help mitigate the absolute misery he would be in, but he still hated it.
Once all traces of the heat were out of his system, and his temperature going back to normal was Steve allowed visitors. Not even Robin was allowed inside his bedroom during his heats.
Though that was mainly because the poor omega was so pitiful and crying that a lot of handlers would be emotional wrecks afterwards.
Robin had made the mistake once when a heat came a week early due to some stress that was happening in Steve’s life and she was a sobbing mess the whole time he was in heat.
No one knew why the sight of an omega in heat drove betas to such an extreme emotional response, but the prevailing theory was that it was an evolutionary throw back to the pre-historic era so that betas would be moved to not take advantage of the omega in their most vulnerable time.
He showered and stepped out to his front room and smiled. Robin and Eddie were on the sofa waiting for him.
“Hey, princess,” Eddie murmured. “How are you feeling?”
Steve groaned and flopped down on the seat between the two of them. “Like I’ve been run over. The mini heats are the worst. Because you can’t prepare for them.”
“Especially since that was his first mini heat,” Robin commented dryly, “that automatically makes it worse.”
Eddie raised an eyebrow. “You don’t usually get mini heats?”
“Nope!” Steve said, popping the P. “Robin carefully curates my clients so that it’s never happened. I’ve experienced faux bonds before, the chemical bonding of scents instead of an actual bite bond. Those are common enough. But no, no mini heats for me.”
Eddie looked over at Robin who looked smug.
“Well that’s good then,” he said.
Steve nodded. He chewed on his lower lip and sighed. “I think we need to talk about the golden omega thing. It’s not possible, right?”
Robin and Eddie raised their eyebrows.
“Stevie,” Eddie said gently, “not only is it possible, it’s highly probable.”
Steve looked over at Robin and she nodded.
“Wait, what?”
“You don’t have to do anything about it now,” Robin said. “As long as you are a Starcourt escort you’ll spend your heats alone. And then if you want to get bonded to Eddie and have pups with him, walk away from the job and then mate.”
Steve went stock still as he mulled it over in his mind. Eddie and Robin exchanged concerned glances but stayed silent as Steve’s entire world view was shifted on its axis.
Starcourt had always treated Steve like he was special. It was one of the reasons his cherry popping was such a major event. His parents had sneered at the whole experience, but the agency had gone out of their way to make Steve feel safe in the process.
But to be a golden omega for real? And not just because Eddie wanted him to be special. Not that Eddie didn’t already think he was special, but this would cement how special Steve actually was.
He knew his parents would immediately come out of the woodwork to claim more money for being a golden omega, but it would also be the sweetest justice imaginable.
Because they could have gotten more from Steve’s omegahood and chose to throw him away like he didn’t matter. Only coming back when they needed more money.
“Explain it to me,” he whispered.
And they did. Robin leading the way with Eddie filling in spots where he thought Steve needed more clarity. When they were done Steve looked at Robin and said with tears in his eyes, “If I retire do I lose you?”
Robin’s lip quivered and she got up on her knees. She gently took Steve’s face in her hands. “No. Absolutely not. Yes, an omega escort has to be a handler’s top priority, but you are my best friend. My platonic soulmate, you’d have to murder me to get me to leave you. Do you understand?”
Steve nodded and then threw himself into her arms. Having to choose between the love of his life and his best friend would have been the hardest thing he would have ever had to do. But this made it easy.
They talked about it for a bit and ultimately it was decided Steve would retire when he turned thirty. It would give him a couple more years do a job he loved, but still give Eddie and him plenty of time to have pups.
“That’s a perfect solution,” Eddie agreed. “And I think the band will agree to a couple years break making music so we can all focus on our family lives.”
Steve’s omega chirped happily. Eddie chuckled and pulled him onto his lap. He nuzzled Steve’s scent gland and the omega chirped again.
“Look at you,” Robin said happily. “All content and comfortable. You just got every thing you could ever want, you lucky bastard.”
Steve grinned at her. “I am so blessed.”
Eddie blew a raspberry under Steve’s ear causing him to giggle.
“Eddie!” he protested, trying to push the alpha away, but Eddie did it again, this time on his cheek.
Soon they were wrestling and Steve ended up on the floor, looking up at a surprised Eddie.
“Rude,” Steve huffed as he got to his feet.
“Oops!”
Robin shook her head.
Eddie brought out Steve’s silly side and Steve let Eddie be himself. Apparently the universe knew what it was doing after all with these two.
Tumblr media
The next three years passed by in a blur.
Chrissy had become the star Steve always knew she was. But of course, that meant her ex-boyfriend and her mother found out about her leaving the convent.
Steve was actually there to witness their faces, purple with rage showing up at some event she was at. The alpha actress she was with had to call security to get them removed.
Chrissy released a statement through the agency that spoke of her love of the job, the religious abuse her mother had put her through, and the love she thought was eternal with Jason turning to ash when she found out she couldn’t bear his children.
She spoke of the love that the sisters had shown her when her mother had dropped her off at the convent against the wishes of her father and her own. About how half of her cherry price went to those same sisters who had protected her from the wrath of her mother for years.
She spoke about how she found her people with Starcourt Services. How she had good friends, made good money, and how her father had supported her every step of the way. And how the other half of her cherry price would always be waiting for her if she ever wanted to leave. Something that after some serious soul searching she knew would not be for a long, long time.
Chrissy’s story burst open a scandal that had been the Church’s best kept secret, that a third of the omegas that came to them after learning they were infertile were brought there against their will by religious extremist parents not wanting their omega child to live their own lives.
Max and Lucas finally announced they were bonding after Lucas played his first game in the NBA as the first omega point guard for the Indiana Pacers, having won their law suit.
With Steve retiring, Robin was going to be Chrissy’s handler. Robin hadn’t lasted with Vickie due to them wanting different things out of life. Robin loved her job, but Vickie wanted more of her time to be focused just on her, something Robin wasn’t willing to do.
Tommy had been kicked out of the agency after he had a very public fight with his ex-girlfriend, Carol. He was supposed to be escorting Billy Hargrove but had found him in a bathroom with known omega starlet, Heather Holloway, his dick in her.
Carol had thrown it in his face that he couldn’t even get wandering Billy Hargrove to stay still long enough. Tommy had thrown hands and Starcourt had thrown him out.
Last Steve heard he was working as a pre-school teacher, barely making a tenth the amount he was at Starcourt. But he had found an alpha and they were happy together, satisfied for the first time in his life.
Jonathan was pregnant with Nancy and his second child. Steve was actually happy for them when they announced it.
Eddie’s band was topping the charts and had done a couple of tours. Steve had missed him, but with work keeping him busy, they were able to keep up a healthy communication.
Elinor and Gareth had decided to bond. Elinor knew that she would never reach the heights of Steve or Chrissy so when the last of her cherry price had been paid, she left the agency to be a rockstar’s wife.
Steve couldn’t wait to spend his first heat with Eddie. What was even better was the fact that Eddie’s rut had synced up with Steve’s heat and everyone knew to stay away for that week.
Their bonding and wedding ceremony was the talk of the town, Steve and Eddie surrounded by all their friends and loved ones. The whole Party was there.
Steve had taken preemptive measures against his parents, knowing that they would try and get more money from him, once Eddie and Steve announced that they had gotten pregnant.
He had a protective order ready to spring into affect the moment they tried anything. Lawyers on speed dial, and security on standby.
He had the life he had always dreamed of. A soulmate who would bond him and give him the pups he so desperately desired, who loved and cared for him like no one in his life could match. Robin came close. Because of course she did. Maybe not more or less than Eddie, but different.
And when that first little one came to loving and adoring parents, Steve knew that regardless if Dustin was omega, alpha, beta, or infertile Eddie and Steve would love him and support him no matter where he chose to go in life.
And that was the perfect ending to Steve’s story, he thought. Eddie couldn’t help but agree.

The sound of bones rolling together can be the loudest sound. The sting of pain bolts through him and all Steve can do is hiss in pain.
“You dumbass” he hisses to himself as he debates how to get back up. Looking around, he notices Eddie walking towards him.
“Stevie, what happened?” Eddie shouts over, quickly jogging over, “why are you on the ground- wait- dumb question, are you okay?”
He huffs a little, hanging his head. Still in the same stupid position. One knee on the ground, the other bent awkwardly. His throbbing hand somehow still pressing into the gravel. “I fell, Eds.”
Eddie doesn’t say anything at first, just bends down and tips Steve’s head up. “Come on,” he says softly as he reaches and helps him up. Steve going with him easily before slumping against him, “what hurts, Love?”
“My ankle and knee.” He mumbles against eddie’s shoulder, “my hand”
They stand there for a second, Eddie just holding Steve against him, rubbing his hands up and down Steve’s back. Slowly they walk back to the trailer, Eddie supporting Steve along the way.
Once inside, Eddie helps Steve down on the couch before quickly grabbing the first ad kit. Steve hisses as his knee shifts, “I think I need to take my pants off.”
They blink at each other, after another blink, they’re a mess of giggles.
“Nows not the time for that, sweet thing, buttttt yeah. You’re definitely bleeding” Eddie frowns at the obvious dark stain, “how the hell did you fall anyway?”
“Please don’t laugh”
Eddie rolls his eyes, patting his leg and helping Steve pull the jeans down just below his knees, “Ouch”
Hissing, Steve stares at his bleeding knee and cringing at the very obvious bad strawberry. He winces as he shifts his hand around, “I was just walking Eddie and next thing- my ankle rolled and I landed hard on my knee and hand.”
They manage to get his knee cleaned and bandaged, Steve groaned as he lifted his foot on up on the couch. Eddie patted his leg, “You rest here, I’ll grab you some ice. Don’t think you’ll be doing anything for a bit”
Groaning, Steve nodded and rested his head against the couch. Watching as Eddie walks back towards the kitchen.
“Don’t you worry, Stevie baby, I’ll nurse ya back to health”
Tumblr media
Based on turn events… as in I was WALKING TO GRAB A RUNAWAY BASKETBALL and did not see a rock because I was on the street. I immediately crumbled, landed land on my right knee and hand. Rolled the left ankle. So quick recap: my left ankle, right knee and right hand/wrist are all hurt.
The only thing that didn’t actually happen was I don’t have an Eddie in my life. It was my 7yr old niece that walked over and immediately asked me if I was okay 🥺

Gareth's POV
---
Eddie was acting weird.
And not his normal, kind of flighty, maybe a little sleep deprived thanks to childhood trauma and nightmares, weird.
No. He was weird in the sense that he hadn't quit smiling. And not in the sort of sinister, sort of menacing way he did when he was going to do something stupid or get into shit. No. He was smiling like Gareth had never seen him smile before. All dimples and fluttering eyes, catching himself with a giggle and turning away to shake it off as if it'd ever actually go away.
He looked happy, smitten if Gareth really had to put a word to it. Twitterpated, Love-Struck, Infatuated; if he had to put a few more.
It's a look Gareth had only ever seen in a smaller multitude when Eddie bought his Warlock those few years ago. And now, holding that same guitar, plucking mindlessly to a fucking Tears For Fears song, Eddie smiling like that, but ten fold.
Gareth has his suspicions, one much more likely than others. Maybe Eddie's high, maybe he finally passed Mrs. Click's class and hasn't told anyone yet, or maybe, the most likely of the three because Gareth might be just a touch dumb like any other teenage boy, not blind; Steve Harrington.
Steve "The King" "The Hair" Harrington.
Steve "who was never really a problem but still kind of a douchebag" Harrington.
Steve "who Eddie never shuts the fuck up about" Harrington.
Steve "who just so happens to be coming to their band practice today" Harrington.
Steve Harrington, Gareth's 99% sure.
As much could be proven by the way Eddie slips up on his cord and blushes the deepest shade of red upon Steve's arrival.
Not to mention the fact that Harrington's sporting a Black Sabbath t-shirt Gareth knows to be Eddie's because they went to the fucking concert together.
Well, then there's the hickeys that suspiciously match between the pair and the way Steve's eyes rake with a disturbing sort of hunger over Eddie's body.
It's then that Eddie's change in the flavour of weird he's giving off today makes sense. That dopey smile, those heart shaped eyes and the way he just seems blissfully happy; it all makes sense.

Do Steve and Eddie make Easter baskets for the kids as they get older? I was just talking to my mom about how she used to hide our baskets along with the eggs and they were impossible to find. And it made me think about Eddie being devious with his hiding spots.
istg you and i are on the same wavelength bc i was literally drafting an easter drabble when this notif came in.
Yeah, they absolutely do the whole Easter thing - just for the memories and tradition of it all. Their kids don't even really know what Easter is about other than the bunny and eggs and all that - Steve is pretty sure Hazel thinks it's to celebrate all the new baby animals and he's not really interested in taking that away from her.
It starts the Saturday before Easter when the girls dye hard-boiled eggs (which typically goes about as well as any extremely messy arts and craft project with three young kids). They argue throughout the entire process, and to an outsider they all probably look pretty miserable, but when Steve says, "If I hear another word about who's allowed to use which colors, I'm packing all this up and we'll be done," he gets a united chorus of protests in response.
(And Eddie is no help whatsoever because he's too busy coming up with the most intricate egg design possible).
When all the eggs are dyed (and the girls are done arguing over whose were ultimately whose), they put them in their little Easter baskets with the fake grass and leave them outside their bedroom doors.
Overnight, Steve and Eddie the Easter Bunny swaps out the eggs for candy and little toys and things like that, and hides the eggs around the house.
Eddie is an absolute rat bastard about how he hides those eggs. He does not care that Hazel is only four, and barely three feet tall. He absolutely will be hiding her sticker-covered mess of an egg on top of the tallest bookshelf in the living room.
"If she's smart, she'll realize she can see it when she stands on stairs," he says gleefully.
"Okay, and then what?" is Steve's question, "Is she levitating up there?"
The girls love it. They have the best time going on a wild goose chase for all the eggs, and the tradition lasts a lot longer than it probably would have otherwise for that exact reason.
An honorable Harrington family Easter mention is when Eddie does such a good job hiding one particular egg that no one can find it.
Steve: If I have to be stuck with a rotting egg lost in my house I will go insane and die
It takes Eddie three hours to find it (inside a spare roll of toilet paper - Steve comments, “No wonder none of you freeloaders could find it”) and he misses the Easter morning cinnamon rolls.

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7
Steve comes home from his first post-injury workout drenched in sweat and throws himself onto the sofa on his back. Robin winces as she watches him go, raising an eyebrow.
“That bad?” She asks, to which Steve groans in response.
“They want me to wear a bubble.” Steve responds, digs his hand around inside the gym bag still attached to his side and lifts out the full face mask.
“Wouldn’t be the worst idea, protect your face at least.” Robin observes, only to be met by a glare from Steve. His facial expressions are making a triumphant return as he regains more control over his face as the wound heals, and he’s taking full advantage of his bitchy looks whenever he can.
“Says the one not blowing hot air back into their own face as they work out.” He grumbles, flopping back and dropping the mask onto his stomach. “Everything hurts. You’d think I’ve been out for months, not just a few weeks.”
“How’s the headache?” Robin predicts, and Steve gives her another look before he sighs.
“It’s not bad, don’t overreact. It’s not the concussion.” He insists, ignores the way her eyebrow rises again and instead pushes himself up again. “I’m going to shower,” Steve announces, making a quick escape from Robin.
It’s not exactly that he’s lying, because he’s not. He doesn’t think anything he’s feeling is concussion-related. The soreness in his muscles is from suddenly being weighed down with his hockey gear again, after weeks without. It’s a similar feeling to the first workout of the pre-season. The headache is a little trickier to convince everyone around, so he’d avoided mentioning it and done his best to hide it at the rink. It’s no surprise Robin can just tell he has one, though.
He lets steam fill the bathroom before he steps under water so hot his skin turns pink. He lets the shower spray target the middle of his back, shifts so it settles between his shoulder blades, and rests his forehead against the cool tiles in front of him.
Eventually, he emerges back into the apartment in sweatpants, his hair air drying. Robin is setting a cup of hot tea down on the coffee table, her own tucked onto an end table beside her on the sofa. Steve smiles softly and mumbles his appreciation as he sits and takes a sip.
As he drains the cup, the headache eases a bit and he feels a bit more human than he had after returning home from his workout.
“You got mail from your parents today,” Robin eventually offers over the New Girl re-run neither of them are particularly paying attention to but have on for familiar background noise. Steve just grunts, uninterested, and instead busies himself checking any messages he may have missed from people he actually cares to give the time of day.
Dustin had demanded a “family dinner,” which Steve agrees to and warns Robin when to expect a full house. Max, traveling with the Blackhawks for a game tomorrow night, had sent him a detailed threat to not push himself too hard while working out. He responds with a video clip the trainer had taken of Steve nailing a series of wrist shots.
Steve tries hard not to be too disappointed that he hadn’t heard from Eddie. They’d texted about their plans for the day, Steve knew Eddie had said he’d be spending the day in his studio working on a few new tracks he was putting together. Still, though, he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t hoping he’d have found a text or two from the other in the time he hadn’t been looking at his phone, something that was quickly becoming a standard for the pair.
Biting back his pride, he decides to send the first text, figuring the other will answer whenever they’re wrapping up in the studio.
Steve: Hope you’re having a good studio session.
After a long few moments, Steve can’t help the little sigh he lets out as he buries himself into the throw pillows filling out the sofa beside him. Robin nudges him with a foot, eyebrow raised, and he shrugs back at her, turning his attention to the television. It isn’t long before he zones out, though, thinking and overthinking.
His injury has given him a lot of time to think about a lot of things; primarily what landed him off the ice. He’s only mentioned it to Robin, but he has been considering coming out to his coaching staff and league officials to give background on what seems like an otherwise unprovoked violent streak from Billy Hargrove. Steve learned, in the days he spent in LA after the attack on the ice, Billy had taken to calling him names and slurs with press and on social media. The trash talking had landed him another fine from the league, but it wasn’t slowing him down. It was more than enough to prove the attack was premeditated, if everyone who needed to know the background was read in on their history.
And while Billy was staying on the attack, his teammates were apparently squared up and ready to defend Steve in a way he probably should have expected but hadn’t seen coming. Each of the players who had gotten physically involved in fighting Billy after Steve had taken a stick to the face had made comments with press about how Hargrove plays dirty and mean. Several had also spoken out about Steve’s leadership and sportsmanship on and off the ice, throwing their support behind him through his recovery.
Coming out to the league and his coaches also had the potential to alleviate some of the anxiety he was feeling around his personal life. There had always been concern about coming out, getting kicked off the ice and ending up without the one thing he knew best. Long before he’d joined the league, his father had impressed upon him that he would have to settle and make sacrifices if he wanted to stay with the sport, but Steve wasn’t sure how much longer he’d be able to keep his sexuality bottled up and hidden away from the public.
In large part, it was easy to place blame on Eddie. The rockstar blew into his life and changed his perspective on what it was like to be a public figure, out and proud. Steve knew their status didn’t translate equally. Sports fans were different from fans of a band; Steve had joined a team with supporters who would cheer him on so long as he wore their colors and made them proud. Eddie’s fans had sought him out, decided to listen to his music and support him on their own. But for Steve to see Eddie carrying on with his life, not having to hide any part of himself or worry about not posting certain photos from their days in LA on social media (because what if they looked too suspicious and got people talking and asking questions?) was what Steve longed for.
Chicago was a pretty open-minded town; it’s why he and Robin had first moved to the city to begin with. But it still wasn’t a guarantee that everyone would continue to support the team if he did publicly come out. And Steve was working to reconcile that in his mind; to gauge how much he should even care about it. A part of him knew the greater majority wouldn’t give a shit as long as he still scored goals and played a clean, fair and exciting game whenever he hit the ice. But the thought of those few who might push back too hard and how it could impact his teammates - his friends - in the long term is still what ate away at him.
“I can hear how loud you’re thinking over there.” Robin eventually says while he’s deep in thought, and he shoots her a small smile in response. “Look, Steve, you have to do what you think is best for you. Who gives a shit about anyone else.” She says.
He wishes it was that easy. He knows it could be, but he cares too much about the fallout to stop overthinking. They fall back into silence again, until Robin eventually closes her laptop and leans close to press a gentle kiss to Steve’s hair.
“You’re the best at what you do and if people can’t see that around the fact that you like guys, then that’s their loss.” She says, gently, before excusing herself off to bed.
Steve lounges around in the living room for a while longer, before he turns off the tv, grabs a blanket and makes his way out onto the terrace. He wraps the sherpa around his shoulders and drops into one of the loungers out there, looking out toward the skyline. It’s cold, but not as cold as it’s been, and he’s always found comfort in the winter weather, anyway.
His phone buzzes, catching his attention, and he smiles softly at Eddie’s name. When he answers FaceTime, he’s immediately met by chaos. It sounds like three voices are talking over each other, Eddie’s closest to the phone, making a loud ‘shhh’ sound until everyone around him is silenced.
“Did you mean to call me?” Steve asks around a smile, and watches as Eddie’s face lights up as he draws his attention.
“I did!” He insists, though Steve isn’t entirely convinced. “Want to hear what the track I’m mixing right now?”
Steve raised his eyebrow, only half sure he knows what Eddie’s talking about, before he nods. “Let’s hear it.” He agrees.
“Told you,” Eddie hisses at someone just out of the camera’s frame; probably one of the Corroded Coffin boys. Eddie taps a few buttons below the phone, then a soft guitar tune starts playing. It’s not like anything Steve has ever heard from the band before, gentler and softer. Other instruments crash in, in a more typical Corroded Coffin sound, for what Steve assumes will be a chorus once there’s a vocal track, but it slows back to just a guitar for the next verse. Eddie pauses the song and lifts the phone up again. “Thoughts and opinions are encouraged.”
“It’s different.” Steve says, still a little in awe.
“But not in a bad way!” He hears Gareth’s voice from somewhere in Eddie’s studio, and Steve nods in agreement.
“I don’t think it’s in a bad way, either. Just different. It still sounds like you guys in that middle part, when all the instruments join in. But the guitar, that’s… it’s soft and sweet and gentle. It works nicely, not that I know anything about music,” Steve laughs, and Eddie gives him a little smile.
“I appreciate your opinion,” he says, seeming to inspect the screen. “Your face looks a little less colorful. How was practice?”
“Fine, I’m sore now, though.” Steve admits, shifts and cracks his back.
“Gross!” Jeff cries from somewhere around Eddie, and Steve can’t help but laugh again.
“You should get back to working, I’m gonna head to bed soon anyway. We can talk tomorrow?” Steve asks, and Eddie nods.
“Night, Stevie.”
~~~~
He hangs up the FaceTime, steals a pizza roll off Jeff’s plate, and re-opens the notes app on his phone. Scanning over the rambling notes he’d made himself about how he imagined the song would work out, he starts a new paragraph.
And he stares at the blank line before him.
“You’ve composed, like, 4 tracks and you can’t come up with a single lyric for any of them?” Freak asks, takes a pull from a joint burning in an ashtray near the sofa, and blows the smoke out away from the group.
“Very helpful insight,” Eddie grumbles, and Jeff leans forward.
“Do you want us to help? Like, do you have a theme for the songs, or is this just going to be your own little pet project?” He asks.
“Well, I guess it depends. If you want to drop a surprise EP or double album after the one we’re putting out, I’m probably going to need help. But if you’re cool with letting me sit on it, I can probably figure it out on my own.” Eddie offers.
Gareth twirls a drumstick between his fingers. “I think we let Eddie handle the love songs about Steve Harrington, and if he comes up with enough to make into something to drop, we drop them whenever he’s ready, and if not, we throw them onto the next album or whatever when he’s ready to release them.”
Eddie sighs and drops his head back against the rest of his swivel chair. “Can we stop calling them love songs about Steve?”
“Guess you have extra incentive to write lyrics to them, then,” Freak teases, and Eddie groans back, making the other boys laugh.
It isn’t much longer before they all excuse themselves to the rooms they claimed around the house. Eddie spends a few extra hours in the studio, working on as many lyrics as his brain allows and even sorts out bridge for the song he’d played for Steve before he heads off to bed.
He isn’t surprised to wake up the next morning to a text from Steve, who routinely gets up hours before Eddie and is always the first to send a text wishing him a good day ahead.
Eddie: Go easy on yourself on the ice today, you were up too late listening to headbanger music.
It’s a while before he gets a response, which isn’t uncommon. They both have their own lives which responsibilities to get up to. But Eddie would be lying if he said he wasn’t waiting not-so-patiently for Steve’s next response. Freak flew out this afternoon, heading back to visit family in Ohio, leaving Gareth and Jeff at Eddie’s. They’re playing video games in the living room when Eddie’s phone rings with Steve’s name and ID photo.
“Hey, how was today?” Eddie asks immediately, launching himself off the sofa and away from the boys and the noise from the television.
“Well, that’s part of why I’m calling,” Steve says, sounding a little out of breath and hair damp with sweat, glancing off camera before he flashes a charming smile down at Eddie. “What are you doing Tuesday?”
His brain short-wires for a second, thrown off course by the response. Is this Steve, asking him out on a date? That can’t be it, right? There’s no way, not with the back-and-forth they have going on. There would be more to it than that, and Steve seems like the kind of guy to give more than 4 days notice for a date that requires at least one party to travel several states. So Eddie does his best to quickly calm and compose himself, hoping he hasn’t taken an alarmingly long time to answer, before he responds. “I don’t know, what am I doing Tuesday?”
“I think you’re coming to watch the Blackhawks play the Predators in Nashville. I’m allowed to travel and suit up, but I probably won’t play just yet.” Steve is grinning, and Eddie can’t help but smile back.
“Hell yeah, I’ll be there!” He agrees, already pulling up the link to buy tickets for the game. “If I get shamed for wearing my Harrington jersey to a Preds game, you get to take the blame for me rooting against my home away from home.” Eddie teases, and Steve lets out a breathy laugh.
“Bring it on,” he challenges, finally seems to Eddie like he’s caught up and gotten back the quick wit and sharp humor which had been on a slight delay since the injury. A sign of recovery, Eddie’s sure and it helps to see him returning to normal.
They catch one another up on their days, and Eddie lets Steve listen to a few more of the tracks they’ve been working on over the last few days, but stops before the lyrics start in the only one he and Jeff have crafted words to so far, not ready for Steve to hear it yet.
As they’re talking, Eddie gets a notification he almost swipes away without reading, but Steve’s name catches his attention, so he drags it down and reads over the words.
“You okay?” Steve asks, and Eddie realizes the face he must be making is ridiculous.
“Oh, uh. I just got a notification about you?” he mumbles back, and texts the link to Steve.
Now it’s Steve’s turn to look confused as Eddie reads over the headline again.
Hockey Legacy Harringtons to Host Joint Fundraiser
Steve reads the words and seems to immediately understand them in a way Eddie can’t, and he closes his eyes in a heavy sigh. “I promise you, my life is not usually this dramatic.”
Eddie hates how miserable Steve seems all of a sudden; regrets passing the link on but knows he would have found out eventually and gotten upset anyway. “Dude, really, I don’t even know what that means, so it’s not a big deal.”
“It is, though. This is my parents, deciding that I’m worthy of being their son again because I’m getting a bunch of positive press after the injury. So my name gets to be included in the gala invitation, which I have been excluded from since juniors, by the way.” It’s still piecemeal, the information Eddie is able to take away from Steve’s explanation, but it’s enough to get the general gist of the issue.
“Ah. So, the dad who convinced you to self-sabotage is now trying to take credit for your sportsmanship?”
“Something like that,” Steve grumbles, and Eddie can see how he’s holding the phone differently, typing out a text. “I think I have to get Robin and we need to figure this out, sorry to jump off like this. But, I’ll see you at the Preds game? We can grab dinner after?”
“It’s a date.”
Eddie physically can’t stop the words before they’re out of his mouth, and immediately waits for a hole in the ground to open up and suck him in and put him out of his misery. But Steve just raises an eyebrow, smiles and shrugs. “Not yet, but. Sure.”
Then, Eddie stares at himself in the reflection of his phone after Steve ends the FaceTime call and he has no idea what he’s supposed to do with Steve Harrington, who keeps finding new ways to catch him off guard.
42. “I swear it was an accident.” for the drabble prompts, pls and ty. Steddie, or whatever pairing inspires you. xo, @steddierthings
If Eddie could take it back, he would. If he could just travel through time and warn himself before it happened. But how was he to know? There wasn't a single red flag only green lights. But now he was sitting on the couch, two very angry roommates glaring down at him. One of which was his boyfriend.
Both Steve and Robin had their arms crossed. Eddie felt like an inmate on death row. Which meant he had to plead his case.
"I swear it was an accident. I thought she was you!"
"How do you make a mistake like that?", Steve raised a brow, not convinced.
Eddie had come home after a long shift and upon entering, saw a jean-clad ass, swinging as the person was bent over, looking through the shared vhs collection in the living room. Eddie had wound up and gave his a resounding smack.
He very quickly realized it wasn't the luscious behind of his beloved. Nope, it was Robin that shot up with fire in her eyes.
And so here he was, on trial.
"In my defense, she's wearing your jeans!", Eddie gestured to her legs.
And that she was. They looked a little loose on her, but at first glance, it wasn't hard to mistake those legs for Steve's from behind.
Robin rolled her eyes. "You've literally said you'd recognize Steve's ass anywhere."
"His bare ass", Eddie amended. "It's like a constellation that always leads me home~"
"Put those eyes away, Munson. You're not off the hook", Steve said.
"Hey, it's not just the pants. She's also wearing your shirt."
Steve looked Robin up and down and realized her entire ensemble was taken from his closet. "You know, he might have a point."
"Steve!", Robin gasped. "My honor!"
"You're right, you're right. As punishment, let's say...two hours, no kisses."
Eddie's face dropped. "Baby, you're killing me."
"Wanna make it three hours?"
Send me a pairing and a number for a drabble
Not All That Glitters is Gold Part 16
Just one more chapter left, and in cased you missed it, I won't be doubling up on chapters per day this week. The last chapter will be out next week.
Doubling up really killed the numbers for these stories, half the time people were only reacting and commenting on the SECOND chapter.
But don't worry, what this means is that your favorites you've been seeing snippets of on WIP will get quicker releases this way.
In this Eddie's rut progresses as normal, they talk about Steve's status, and Eddie and Benny learn some very interesting things about golden omegas.
Pt 1 Pt 2 Pt 3 Pt 4 Pt 5 Pt 6 Pt 7 Pt 8 Pt 9 Pt 10 Pt 11 Pt 12 Pt 13 Pt 14 Pt 15
Tumblr media
Eddie came to and was sure that at least a day had passed, but he looked at the clock on Steve’s nightstand and frowned. It had only been five hours since his rut had started. He looked in the wastebasket and there were only three condoms in it which fit the time frame.
He looked around, but Steve wasn’t there. He sat up and the sheet that had been covering his waist slid off. He looked down and saw that his dick was sheathed with another condom.
There was some of Steve’s slick on the sheets, but considering Eddie was still in them, he figured Steve couldn’t change them yet.
He could hear Steve humming to a beat in the kitchen and padded out there.
He smiled fondly as he watched the omega dance around his kitchen to the music in his head. Bopping and hopping as he made a wholesome snack.
“That snack looks good, baby,” he said, his alpha rumbling happily, “but I would rather eat you.”
Steve squeaked. “Eddie! You’re awake! How do you feel?”
For the first time since he woke up, he took stock of his body, really examining it.
“Warm, sated...” he said furrowing his brow, “happy?”
Steve beamed at him. “Yay! That means your rut is progressing as it should. It seems like your body is adjusting better to the low light and you’re more lucid.”
Eddie came up behind him and buried his nose into Steve’s scent gland. “All because of you, sweetness.”
Steve squawked when Eddie picked him and spun him around.
When Eddie finally put him down Steve swatted at him playfully. “You absolute menace.”
Eddie cackled. “Yes, but I’m your menace.”
Steve turned around in his arms and kissed him deeply. Their cocks brushed against each other and he let out a low moan.
“So good...”
Eddie nipped at Steve’s chin. “Let’s get some food in us and then I want something else in you.”
Steve snorted. They ate and hydrated before Eddie picked Steve up bridal style and carried him back to the bedroom.
Eddie could feel himself sliding back into the blind haze of his rut, but the scent of the omega underneath him stirred some distant memory, but it was lost in the next moment when Steve moaned.
The pattern continued like that for the five days. Steve and Eddie taking care of each other while Eddie was lucid, Steve taking care him when he wasn’t.
Eddie had never experienced a rut that had gone so smooth. He understood why alphas paid top dollar for an escort to service their ruts if every one was like this.
He knew that he wouldn’t be able to spend another rut without Steve for as long as he was biologically able to experience ruts.
Each time he became lucid, he would become aware for longer. The last day having two hours before the rut took over him again.
But he used those two hours wisely. He talked to Steve.
“Baby,” Eddie said, from the sofa, “come sit for a bit. You know it won’t hit again for awhile, you might as well relax.”
Steve looked over at him and smiled. He padded over to the sofa and curled up onto Eddie’s lap.
“How are you feeling?” he murmured into Eddie’s neck.
“I’m good,” Eddie replied. “This was worth every penny. I see why it’s so popular.”
Steve chuckled. “I’m glad that it’s available to alphas that can’t afford escorts through clinics.”
“That’s a new thing, though right?” Eddie asked. “I don’t remember seeing them when I first presented.”
“Yeah,” Steve said, nodding. “It’s something that a lot of the major escort houses pushed for in recent years, if all alphas can get the same level of care that the rich do, then it lowers the chances of alphas turning feral from bad ruts.”
Eddie grinned. “It would have happened in the last five years or so, would it? Like say when a particular omega became popular?”
Steve blushed but didn’t deny it. Alpha health was something he had been passionate about for awhile. Helping everyone no matter how much money someone had was just the start of what he wanted to do. Mandating sex education for alphas. It was mandated for omegas and beta, but not alphas, because ‘alphas instinctively knew what to do’ with omegas. Which was bullshit.
“I thought so,” Eddie said.
Steve smiled back. “I’ve even got a non-profit going setting up education booths outside high schools for alphas to get pamphlets and other material about their reproductive health.”
“Ooh, ooh!” Eddie said, nearly vibrating with excitement. “We should throw a gala like the one where we met to get the awareness out there.”
“That’s a great idea, Eds,” Steve said, kissing Eddie’s jaw.
They settled down into a warm silence for awhile just taking in each other’s soothing presence.
Eddie nuzzled Steve ear to wake him. “Hey, you tired, sweetness?”
Steve roused himself and looked up at him bleary eyed. “I guess I am. You see this rough and tumble alpha has been keeping my hole hot and full for the few days. Trying to keep up with him is tiring me out.”
Eddie cackled. “Yeah, if he wears you out so bad, you should blacklist him or something.”
“I would, but I’m in love with his cock so...”
Eddie’s head reared back in mock indignation. “Excuse you!”
Steve laughed. He pressed a kiss to Eddie’s scent gland and the alpha purred. Steve’s omega chirped happily in response.
“I love your scent,” Eddie murmured. “It’s not like other escorts I’ve met.”
Steve looked up at him in confusion. “What do you mean?”
“Chrissy, Elinor, Tommy,” Eddie said. “All smell too sweet. Like fruit rotting on the vine. A terrible but apt metaphor for their condition. But you smell spicy. But in sweet kind of way.”
“I do?” Steve really never thought about his own scent before.
Eddie nodded. “Gareth described it like Mexican hot chocolate. You know the kind that is spiced with peppers?”
Steve nodded back.
“Did you ever think that you might be a golden omega?” Eddie continued.
Steve’s eyes went wide. “Never. Like why would I? I’m not special.”
“That’s highly debatable, sweetheart,” Eddie admonished. “But your scent and everything you’ve told me about your family. It’s very possible you could be.”
“Is that why you wanted to court me?” Steve asked, soft and small. Like a mouse.
Eddie pulled Steve in closer. “No baby, I didn’t figure it out until later. I wanted to court you because you are funny and amazing and everything I’ve ever wanted in a mate.”
He lift Steve’s chin up and kissed him deeply. “Plus, I set up the rut way before I put the pieces together. Everything was set to protect me, but it seems to me that it may end up protecting you, too.”
“What do you mean?”
“As you know, golden omegas can only get pregnant during their heats,” Eddie said. “And since I’m a known scent breaker...”
Steve’s eyes went wide. “You think there is a chance I’ll go into a mini heat, don’t you?”
Eddie nodded. “When I first booked you, it was one of the things Robin was adamant about protecting you from.”
“She’s amazing like that,” Steve murmured.
“She really is,” Eddie cooed. “But it looks like our time is up, honey.”
Steve could feel Eddie’s cock harden under his ass. “Come to bed with me, alpha,” he purred. “Let me take care of you.”
Eddie let Steve pull him to his feet and they walked hand in hand to Steve’s bedroom for the last of Eddie’s rut.
Tumblr media
When Eddie came to he was not in Steve’s apartment, he was in a smaller hotel room lying on a comfy sofa.
“I’m going to have to burn that sofa after all this,” Robin groused from a nearby armchair. “It will reek of alpha for months if I don’t. I can smell you from here.”
Eddie sat up. He was dressed in soft grey sweatpants and a loose white tank top. No underwear, but then he hadn’t brought any. He ran his fingers through his greasy and sweat slicked hair.
“Fuck,” Eddie grumbled.
“Your manager, Benny sent over a duffel of clothes for you for the next three days.”
Eddie saw the small duffel and snatched it up. “May I please request the use of your shower, milady?”
Robin laughed. “Please do.”
Eddie dashed for the door she pointed to and slammed the door behind him. He stripped his clothes and quickly got under the still cold water. He didn’t want to wait for it to heat up because he felt that gross. His dick was most clean because Steve took the time to wipe him down between condom changes, but he washed it good anyway.
The next thing he focused on was his hair, he had to wash it several times before it felt like it was supposed to. He ran conditioner through the ends of his curls with his fingers, gently massaging it in.
Then he worked on getting the sweat and stink off his body. He hated washing away Steve’s scent, but if he didn’t get clean, Eddie was going to scratch his eyeballs out.
Finally satisfied with how clean he was, he rinsed out his conditioner and stepped out.
He dried off quickly and rummaged through the bag.
Eureka!
Underwear.
Eddie got dressed and then cleaned up his mess, hanging up towels and making sure there wasn’t water everywhere. Uncle Wayne raised him better than to make a mess of someone else’s home.
He opened the door to find Robin and Benny waiting for him.
“Hey, Ben Ten, Birdie,” he greeted, concern dripping from every pore. “What’s happening?”
Benny smiled. “It’s nothing bad. Robin and I were just wrapping up the end of the contract.”
Eddie’s shoulders slumped in relief. He had almost forgotten about the whole thing because he was madly in love with Steve. He sat down on the sofa next to Benny.
“So everything is good?” he asked to be sure.
“Yup!” Robin said brightly. “You are now free to pursue the omega of your dreams.”
Eddie chuckled.
He thought for a moment, licking the bottom of his lip.
“Hey, Robin,” he asked, looking down at his clasped hands, “has an escort ever turned out to be a golden omega?”
Robin and Benny shared a glance.
“You think Steve might be one?” she asked. “Because if he is, that would be fucking hilarious.”
Eddie’s head snapped up.
“His parents have called him useless and a disgrace for being infertile for over a decade,” Robin explained. “To have him be a golden omega who could have been sold for ten to twenty times what he got auctioned for? That would be poetic justice.”
He nodded. “So do you think there’s a chance?”
“Sure,” she said with a half shrug. “The agency doesn’t shout it from the rooftops but yeah, there have been a couple of golden omegas that have come out of Starcourt.”
“How did they find out?” Benny asked, suddenly very interested in where this conversation was going.
“A combination of a couple different ways,” Robin said. “The first is how frequent their heats are. Most golden omegas go into heat more often then regular fertile omegas to make up for the fact they can only get pregnant during their heats.”
Eddie nodded, “And Steve’s are within the normal range?”
She waved her hand back and forth. “Kinda. It’s more times a year than a regular omega, but not outside the possibility if you know what I mean.”
“So say a regular omega has four heats a year and golden omega has eight,” Benny said, “Steve’s heat is somewhere in the middle?”
Robin nodded. “Exactly. The other thing is scent. Which you know Steve’s is unusual. But it’s unusual for an omega full stop.”
Benny and Eddie shared a look of confusion. “What do you mean?”
“Alphas scents are spices, like cinnamon, clove, cardamon, or spicy like peppers, or natural woody scents like pine or cedar,” she explained. “Omegas are fruit and floral scents. Sometimes flavors like chocolate or coffee. That includes golden omegas. Infertile omegas have what is always described as rotted fruit. Super sickly sweet.”
Eddie bit his bottom lip, worrying it between his teeth. “But Steve’s is a mix between the two scents?”
Robin nodded again. “Right. The third thing that helps identify a non-tested golden omega is their resistance to scent breakers.”
“Fuck,” Eddie said. “That means he’s not a golden omega. I thought for sure he was. I even told him he was. That he was so special and precious beyond measure.”
She shook her head. “No, Eddie. That’s where you’re wrong. There is a final thing that helps identify if the omega in question is a golden or not.”
Eddie frowned, “What’s that?”
“There’s a reason golden omegas get their choice of any alpha in the country, if not world,” she said fiercely. “And despite what the media likes to paint it as, it’s not just the rich and elite.”
“It’s not?” Benny asked.
Robin shook her head again. “They’re looking for their soulmate.”
It was like someone had scooped out Eddie’s stomach. “Their what?”
“Soulmate,” Robin said. “The person who completes them. Someone who can break through their scent breaking resistance, someone who’s scent compliments their own, someone who when they share their heats and ruts it goes just about as perfectly as two humans can get. And if they meet that person?”
“Oh,” Eddie breathed.
“Oh.”
Steve arriving at a hotel for a work conference for his dad’s company. He hates it there, he’s miserable, he’s constantly trying to figure out what he actually wants to do with his life.
It’s late when he gets there and the hotel is fully booked because of a concert happening.
He gets his key card after waiting for 30 minutes to check in.
He opens the hotel room door to find it is already occupied by a guy with a whole lot of tattoos all over his very naked and still dripping from a shower body.
Obviously he panics a bit and wonders how the hell this could’ve happened and Eddie panics a little because of safety (turns out he’s the singer of the band performing the following night!)
They try to call the front desk but the line is busy and Steve already dreads having to go back and wait in the line downstairs.
Eddie offers to let him just stay and they’ll fix it in the morning.
“Plenty of room in a king for both of us.”
Which may be true, but Steve is an octopus when he shares a bed and he knows he will end up in Eddie’s space. Should he warn him? Probably. Does he? Absolutely not.
Steve rushes through a shower and hops into bed, making small talk with Eddie about his life in a band, ignores questions about what he does as much as he can because he doesn’t feel like explaining he’s just a puppet for his dad’s never ending business career.
He falls asleep listening to Eddie’s soft, deep tone.
And of course when he wakes up, he’s got his legs and arms wrapped around Eddie anywhere he can reach. His drool is drying on Eddie’s chest and he’s coming to terms with the fact that his dick was definitely pressed against Eddie’s thigh.
Eddie’s kind enough not to say anything about it, just squeezes Steve’s arm and continues petting his hair.
It’s nice, too nice.
Steve has to get up. He’s got things to do today and if he’s late, his dad will hear about it and berate him for hours.
Shit, even if he’s on time he’ll probably find some other reason to berate him for hours.
“What’s wrong?” Eddie asked.
“Hm? Oh. Just don’t really wanna get up.”
“Then don’t. I don’t have anywhere to be until soundcheck after lunch.”
And now Steve has no choice but to explain his job and why he’s here, how his dad is relying on him to network and find potential mergers. How he hates putting on the Harrington face to please everyone.
It’s easy to admit it to Eddie, especially with Eddie’s arms wrapped around him, holding him like he could actually protect him from anything his father tries to say to hurt him.
“You don’t like your job.”
It’s not a question.
“Does anyone really like their job?”
“I do.”
“Well, you’re a rockstar. Of course you do. But I can’t be a rockstar.”
“Maybe not. But what is your rockstar?”
Steve had never been asked that, not even by guidance counselors in high school. They all knew he’d work for his father. He got a business degree for his father. He owned more suits than sweatpants for his father.
“I…don’t know.”
“Maybe you could try figuring it out.”
“It’s not that easy.”
“No, it’s not. But you could still try.”
So Steve sent a message to his dad’s partner, let him know he was fighting food poisoning from the in-flight meal and couldn’t make it to the conference today. He watched as Eddie threw on some clothes, mussed up his hair instead of brushed it, and quickly shoved his things into his bag.
“I should get out of your hair, try to get the room thing fixed.”
Eddie looked at him, looked at the alarm clock by the bed, down at Steve’s bag.
“How many days are you packed for?”
“Uh, four, technically. Trip was supposed to be three, but I always have an extra in case there’s flight delays or-“
“Come with me.”
“To…soundcheck?”
“On tour.”
Steve was an idiot, his father made sure he knew it as often as possible. But he couldn’t just go on tour with a stranger.
Could he?
What was he really doing here?
He hated his job, hated his dad, hated not having a clear path in front of him.
And this certainly wasn’t a clear path; He barely knew this guy, and hadn’t even heard his band. But it was a trail, the start of a path that could lead him somewhere he’d actually like to be.
Maybe he could take this chance.
Robin would tell him to do it, if she weren’t in Antarctica studying penguins for three months, only able to call once a week to check in.
What would she say if she called him and he was backstage at a heavy metal concert?
She’d probably say he’s lost his damn mind, but she’d be glad he did.
“Well, I am a rockstar. I could afford to have you around.”
“I’m not sure I could really afford to when my dad fires me,” Steve sighed, reality hitting him a little too quickly.
“I’m not really willing to be, like, your kept boy or anything,” Steve felt himself flush.
“I’m not really willing to have a kept boy,” Eddie smirked, joining him on the bed again, legs crossed in front of him. “But I’d definitely be happy to have someone who can help our tour manager out. You’d be working, though the jobs kind of boring.”
“More boring than sitting in an office five days a week and meeting with old white dudes who haven’t done anything but work their lives away for 40+ years?”
“Nah, way better than that. Sometimes you’ll have to deal with Gareth’s moods, but I promise to make it worth your while.”
“How’s that?”
“I’ll leave that up to you,” Eddie very obviously checked him, eyes trailing over Steve’s bare chest. “I’m open to negotiating.”
“And if I want a kiss?”
“Then a kiss you’ll have.”
“And if I want you to fuck me?”
“Then you’ll have to sign some paperwork,” Eddie laughed. “But that can be arranged too.”
So Steve left with Eddie, four days of clothes in his bag, no idea what he’d even tell his dad or anyone else, and no clue exactly what his new job would entail.
All he knew was Eddie seemed to be made just for him, chaos and hyperactivity included, and Steve wasn’t gonna give that up now. Even if it made no sense, even if it was ridiculous to gain a new job and new rockstar boyfriend in less than 24 hours, even if his next call with Robin was a combination of her yelling about his impulsive behaviors and congratulations for finally doing something for him.
Even if he was more of a VIP groupie for the band than an employee of the tour manager.
Steve finally found something he wanted.
If he sent his dad’s calls to voicemail, that was because he was too busy walking his new path.
Hello there! I’m not entirely sure if you’re still doing the whole angsty-ish prompt thing, but if you are could please consider doing, “Shit, are you bleeding!?”, with steddie and Steve being the one bleeding?
Maybe Steve never actually took care of his bat wounds and they reopened or smth??
If not then that’s totally fine! Feel free to ignore :)
THIS IS VERY LATE, I'M SORRY. I know you sent this request months ago, and believe it or not, I didn't forget about it! It haunted me. (Not really, but I did keep it in mind, and I finally managed to get a little thing out for it! I hope this is a little like what you had in mind?)
[CW: blood, mentions of injury]
-
They’ve done it.
They’ve actually fucking done it.
They pulled off the whole stupid plan, no one is dead (except for Vecna), they’re right-side up, the gate has resealed itself – it’s over.
They won.
And now, there’s just one thing left to do.
Nothing official, really, just something Eddie had promised himself he would do if he actually managed to survive (odds hadn’t seemed to be in his favor at the time, so he hadn’t expected to have to follow through, but he’d also promised himself there would be no more running away). In a way, he’d promised Steve, too, so he thinks he’d better deliver.
(At least, he hopes that’s what he’d communicated to Steve; he hopes that’s what that meaningful look and that significant nod that passed between them had meant and that he’s not about to get his ass kicked after surviving the siege of a bat tornado in a mirror version of his trailer in a fucked up alternate dimension.)
Eddie gives Dustin one last affectionate pat on the back, skirts around where Robin is babbling something enthusiastically at Nancy, who looks a little too shellshocked to do much more than listen with an almost disbelieving smile, and makes it over to where Steve is standing by the front door. He’s got his back to the group, hunched over a little as he fiddles with something beneath his unzipped jacket, but he perks up the moment he hears Eddie’s voice.
“Steve,” Eddie calls, more quietly than the last time, but with no less gravity, and just like last time, Steve turns back, his gaze falling heavily on Eddie.
Before he can talk himself out of it, and horribly aware that this isn’t really the best time or place (but then again, if not here, then where? If not now, when?), Eddie steps closer, steps right into Steve’s space, cups one hand to his ash-smudged cheek, and leans in to kiss him.
He barely even has a moment to wonder if he’s made a monumental mistake before Steve is kissing him back, tilting his head and pressing closer and moving his lips against Eddie’s like this is all he’s ever wanted to do. If the rest of the trailer has fallen conspicuously silent, Eddie doesn’t notice.
The kiss doesn’t last long (not as long as Eddie would like), but that’s alright; it feels like there will probably be more.
“Wanted to do that earlier,” Eddie murmurs as they pull apart. “But I didn’t want you to think it was some kind of last-ditch wish fulfillment because I thought I was going to die. Figured now would be better.”
“Now is good,” Steve says softly; his eyes are a little hazy, a little unfocused (and damn, had Eddie done that?), but they find Eddie’s without trouble. "Now is great."
And then it’s Steve’s hands on Eddie’s face, curled carefully at the edges of his jaw, drawing him in for another kiss. It’s only the feeling of something wet sliding across Eddie’s skin that distracts him and makes him pull back. Steve’s hands fall away, and Eddie reaches up to swipe over his jaw and looks down at his hand.
His heart thumps when he sees red.
“Am I–?” He reaches up again, rubbing his fingers across his skin again, but he feels no pain, finds no injury. “Are you–?” Eddie looks now at Steve’s hand, heart jumping again when he sees more of the same smeared across Steve’s fingers. “Shit, are you bleeding?”
Steve frowns, reaching up with his clean hand to try to swipe the mess away with his thumb. “Sorry,” he mumbles, but he sounds distant now, a little breathless in a way that Eddie can’t blame on any kiss.
Eddie reaches out and spreads his hands under Steve’s jacket, pushing it open to get a good look at him, and finds the damning dark spots spreading across the fabric of the t-shirt underneath.
“Shit,” Eddie hisses. “Shit, shit, Steve–”
“Might’ve pulled something,” Steve murmurs, “fighting Vecna.”
“You think?” Eddie is aware that he’s getting a bit shrill, but he thinks that he really can’t be blamed. “Wheeler!”
Nancy is there in an instant, and Robin is at Steve’s side just as he starts to wobble. She gets an arm around his back and he hisses, reminding them all that the bat bites on his sides aren’t the only wounds he’d sustained.
And then Nancy is barking instructions, and Robin is talking, quiet and rapid-fire at Steve as they sit him down on the couch, and Dustin is demanding to know what’s wrong (and if Eddie thought he’d been getting shrill–), and Eddie only manages to get him out of the vicinity by telling him to go call an ambulance.
“He’s gonna be fine, Henderson, but we need help,” Eddie says firmly, giving him a shove in the direction of the phone. “We’ve got him, he’ll be fine.”
And Eddie hopes to God, to Satan, to who-the-fuck-ever it is he’s supposed to be praying to at this point, that he isn’t lying to the kid.
He’s just gotten Steve – he can’t lose him now.
