Health for Haiti: Flapjacks Fundraiser

      There was a fund-raising event for the 2019 winter Haiti project. This event is to raise money to help people in Haiti. This event called Flapjacks fundraiser. With this event, they raised $1,621, it was helpful they got to raise awareness for Haiti. The money goes directly to local people in Haiti who are in need.  This event is On November 18, breakfast was sold at Applebee's restaurant.

   In this event, All the members of the group participated. I talked with one of the members, Min-Hyung Park. She is a biology student at Suny Broome. She had an idea that she wanted to help Haiti, but she was agonizing over how. when she got to know health for Haiti,  she got to participate.

    In response to this fund-raising event, she said, “I was happy not only be able to be part of this fundraising opportunity but also being part of the community that is bigger than myself. I was pleased to serve others because my actions could affect others positively”.

  Health for Haiti is an organization that began four years ago in Sunny Broome. They have worked steadily for four years in Haiti. Also in January 2019, They going to go to Haiti to help people living in trouble.

  They give simple medical care to people who live in difficult environments in Haiti. They also teach them the necessary skills in their lives, such as solar technology. In addition, they teach them musical instruments and hold concerts. And because it is difficult to get clean water in Haiti, so they support drinking water and food.

  I'd like to hear about people's experience in Haiti. So I talked to the professor. Blackburn, Marcia a member of this group. The first reason she joined this group, Her colleague recommended her to join this organization. She said “ This trip is hard and difficult but it will be a very valuable experience for students. And It is a great opportunity to learn about global services”.
