Mariah looked up from her sketchbook to see a man shouting at a younger one. She had overheard him apologizing but it didn’t seem to be calming him down. She put the book back into her bag and placed it on her shoulder. She tapped the upset stranger on the shoulder. When he turned to look, she grabbed the younger male and whispered, “Run!” 

Devyn had been on mutiple Tindr dates with both males and females and he was just becoming so discouraged about everything. He really wanted to find something to occupy his mind that wasn’t work since that had ruined one of his relationships before. Devyn was kicking stones through the park as he had his hands shoved in his pockets. There was just so much going through his mind that he wasn’t fully paying attention to where he was kicking the rocks towards. 

Someone had yelled at him because the rock had hit their leg which caused Devyn to apologize quickly, trying to rectify the problem as quickly as he could. “I’m very sorry.. I guess I was just in my own head.. i should’ve been paying attention.” The person didn’t seem to be taking his apology that sincerely and just seemed to be getting more angry. 

“Did you get a video of it? That’s social media worthy.”

“is the ecosystem really that fucked up for me to be watching a squirrel eat a slice of pizza up in a tree? i think that’s fucking cool though.”

“I don’t know about that, but the band’s doing pretty well.”

“Don’t be so humble.”

“no reason, really. just happy to be back home after being on tour, i guess.” 

“That’s right. Your considered a rockstar around here.” She teased. 

“Yeah, it’s pretty bad. I’ve been trying to cut back on caffeine but boy does it taste so good.” Isa gave her a nod before shrugging, “I don’t know. Sometimes I crave it really badly but I rarely seem to indulge as much as I did as a teenager. Now I work at Pump It, I have to stay fit and healthy to set an example for my clients so every now and again I’ll indulge but for the most part fast food makes me feel queasy so I try to monitor my intake.”

“Good luck trying to cut back on the coffee. Maybe it would help if you and a friend did it together.” She suggested. “That’s neat your a trainer. Do you have abs? Having a juicy greasy burger is amazing. The fries are just the icing on top.” Mariah chuckled a little. 

“Welcome to the club.” Mariah laughed. “I’ll have a drink. But it’s my treat. It’s your birthday. Someone should be treating you. What would you like?” She turned to him. 

“It’s my birthday, and I’m officially twenty one. Strålende!” He smiled brightly, sapphire eyes lighting with happiness. He turned to the other at the bar beside him, his fingers tapping against the surface in front of him. “Would you like to have a drink with me? My treat? When I was younger, I imagined my first legal drink would be in a Norwegian bar. But I’m more than okay with it happening here.”

“something like that.” harrison replies, shrugging his shoulders.

“You can change the subject. I'm sorry. I was being insensitive.” She offered the older man a sympathetic look. 

Violetta shrugged. “I have been at it for three years so it would be quite unfortunate if I wasn’t that good.” The question made her do a double take. It was a regular question, one that she was asked often yet always took her off guard. She couldn’t pin point why. “No, I haven’t been since I left. Don’t need too.” She put a smile on her lips afterwards as a why to brighten her statement.

“I'm sure you get hit on all the time. Why don’t you want to go back?” Mariah was being pretty nosey. Sometimes she’d stop herself. But for whatever reason she didn’t feel like holding back. 

“coming right up.” retrieving the bottle from the bag, jay pops the cork off carefully, handing it over to mariah with a smile. “cheers.”

“Cheers.” Mariah takes a few short sips. “So what’s with all the booze? Are you celebrating?” 

“Are you sure? I’m planning on making a few autumn inspired treats at the bakery for Halloween, you’re more than welcome to stop by and taste one. Of course, it’s up to you, we’ll also have candy apples if that’s more your thing.”

“Yes, I’m sure. But I will try the other autumn treats.”

“I don’t either but… I guess they can enjoy it. I think there’s some kind of psychological thing that since you can’t have it all the time, when it’s available you go nuts. Same thing happens with me and starburst jellybeans during Easter time”

“I never thought of that. That is so true!.”

“i’m not supposed to drink, but for the sake of the argument - i would, yes.” 

“Do you have a problem with alcohol?” 

“Well if you ever want to, I could help you out. I do mine mysel

“Your cool and talented. I'm not worthy.” 

“Champagne, please. Just speaking that word makes me feel so fancy.” Mariah pushed her hair off her shoulders and stuck her hand out to receive the drink. 

“i wasn’t sure what you’d be in the mood for, so i kind of got everything. champagne, tequila, pinot…i think i even grabbed a couple of things of iced tea. pick your poison?“ jay says, offering the bag of drinks out to the person beside him, giving them a smile.
