This is a famous influencer from gaza: Ahmed alhenawi. He came to gaza for his wedding which was a week before the genocide. The little girl here is his sister in law, and the little boy is their cousin who's staying with them since his mother was killed by Israeli bombardment.

This is the same girl who said: I wish I could just get killed right now, because I'm so exhausted. You know what's good though? They postponed examinations!

I am Tala Nassar, a Palestinian from Gaza.

I am 17 years old. I live in Nuseirat camp. We live a simple life. We have been living in a small house for the past 18 years. My mother and father worked hard and dreamed of building a house to shelter us until we achieved this dream a few months ago 7 October, until October 7 came and destroyed our lives.

On December 27, the Israeli army informed the residents of the new camp in Nuseirat that the area had become a combat zone and we had to leave it, and they began bombing the homes of its residents, so we had to flee to the city of Rafah on foot, so we settled in a tent on the shore of the Rafah Sea, and the cold began, and it was not cold.

We have a home and no source of income, and at this time the Israeli army started mining Rafah and it is no longer as safe as it was before.

My brothers and I have begun to suffer from anemia and high salt levels, and our health condition may worsen.

I dreamed of completing my education and entering the field of medicine, but the war destroyed everything. We live in this war and this disaster, the worst kind of living. We lack many of the basics of life, the most important of which are treatments. Now I am suffering from hepatitis due to the pollution we live in, and here we are struggling with To survive.

it really is mind-boggling to me that the only reason i know about the Congolese and Sudanese genocides is because of the tireless work of grassroots activists and advocates posting on social media. I can honestly say that if I didn't have social media and didn't happen to be following Black authors and activists, I never would have known what was happening in Sudan and Congo because it is simply not being reported in the great majority of mainstream media. We're talking millions upon millions of PEOPLE enduring unimaginable pain and devastation with next to no official reporting. And yes that is in huge part due to the level of violence and displacement occurring that is preventing a lot of news from getting out of these countries, but it's also so blatantly due to anti-Black racism and the perception of African Nations as inherently savage and violent. But genocide is not and never should be normal for anyone anywhere. With that in mind, please keep Congo and Sudan in your thoughts. Focus Congo's MO is a local organisation whose goal is to rebuild homes, rehabilitate land, and provide medical aid, education, and resources to Congo's most affected people. That said, the late tendency on this hellsite whenever things happen in the world especially for Americans has lately REALLY gone towards “stating your opinion (preferably loudly!) is the only important thing to do as long as you make sure you’re correct first,” because it’s easy and people get a rush out of feeling righteous. I notice this specifically in contrast to years past when it was a lot more easy to find information about and concern for the impacts of violence, which is disturbing.

I don’t know what people have or haven’t done IRL, but I will say this:

A lot of people in Gaza have just lost their access to reliable food, water, and shelter. A lot more are about to, as they’ve been ordered to leave a blockaded area which is currently under heavy fire, which they cannot. There is great need for medical care.
