A good first day of reading! I’m loving A Thousand Miles in particular so far, and I’m moving through it very quickly so I’m faiiirly confident I can finish it during the readathon. I haven’t really put a dent in Legends & Lattes yet though! Just listened to the prologue and it hasn’t hooked me yet, but, to be fair, that’s literally 3mins of listening time.
A Mirror Mended was good! I didn’t love it as much as the first but it’s pretty close. And Chef’s Kiss was cute but a bit too saccharine for my tastes, though I loved the art.
I’m gonna head to bed now and hopefully be up early enough to really make a go of both L&L and A Thousand Miles!

Summerween: Wrap-up
COMMENTS
For some reason, I thought this was a Friday to Friday readathon, so the end of it kind of snuck up on me! Whoops.
I’m pretty happy with finishing 4 books this week, especially one of them was almost 400 pages. My first two reads (Ring Shout + None Shall Sleep) were def my faves, with Just Like Mother coming in 3rd and Aveline Jones at the bottom. But I didn’t dislike anything I read this week :)
Hopefully next time I can clear the weekend a bit better. Last weekend was crazy busy for me so I didn’t get much reading done, which def put me at a disadvantage. But I otherwise had fun! Def want to do this again sometime.

Wow, I was in a very reading-heavy mood this evening! I finished Aveline Jones on my lunch break - it was cute but not spooky enough for me. Just Like Mother was alright, but it felt like it could’ve been 100 pages shorter and still been very successful.
I likely won’t start a new audiobook for Summerween, instead going back to my normal TBR for tomorrow, but I will try to make a dent in Plain Bad Heroines tomorrow evening, though I have no hope in finishing that tome!

Just Like Mother is okay so far. I’m not completely gripped, even if I am enjoying the narration. But The Haunting of Aveline Jones is very fun and spooky! I love the illustrations. The prose style isn’t 100% my thing but that’s okay, it’s still very cute.
I have also checked out Plain Bad Heroines from the library. I in no way expect to read or finish this during the readathon, but I might try to make a dent in it after I finish Aveline Jones!

Well, None Shall Sleep is gonna be one of my favourite reads of the year, yay! Absolutely awesome read. It was so good that I ended up putting off making dinner for like, an hour and a half because I was so desperate to keep reading.
Just Like Mother is...not giving me too much right now? But I am really enjoying the relationship between Maeve and Andrea and I want to see more!
I also started The Haunting of Aveline Jones. The lighting in my living room is really bad these days, though, so it being a physical book is a bit annoying. Tomorrow I’ll have to make a cosy space to read it in my bedroom instead. I like it so far, the creepy clown doll is intriguing!

I finished Ring Shout today - for a Lovecraftian horror, I’m surprised by how much I loved it. It was creepy, with just the right level of revolting body horror to balance out the cosmic horror of it all! I’ll be starting on my next audiobook tomorrow.
None Shall Sleep is also going great! I’m hooked. I probably won’t finish for another couple of days, but I’m absolutely itching to find out what happens. I have some suspicions about possibly upcoming twists!

I took a little trip this weekend, and didn’t get as much reading time as a result. But I’m happy with my final stats! I wish I could’ve gotten to the group read, Strange Star, but maybe I’ll read that anyway when I’ve finished the couple of books from my library that need to be returned soon!
Also, my audiobooks for the Unfortunate Series of Events didn’t come in until today (Saturday), so I only got to one of them. I did listen to most of a non-fiction book in the meantime, but, since it’s not on theme, that obviously isn’t included in my stats.
Was a very fun readathon, anyway! Finished my audiobook! It was just okay, not as spooky as I hoped and didn’t quite tick my boxes in terms of mystery. But cute still! Annoyingly, my holds at the library haven’t come in yet so I can’t start my next audiobooks (namely, continuing in the Series of Unfortunate Events), so I’ve instead picked up a non-middle grade non-fiction audiobook until I can start those.
I did start Wait Till Helen Comes! Veerrryy different from what I imagined, even in these scant few pages.
