When time and space were broken in Hisui, it was broken everywhere.
The sky turned purple all around the world— all across time. Sinnoh saw its missing champion try desperately to save them a second time. Unova watched in disbelief as their missing Subway Master ran up to help her.
Reporters flocked around Spear Pillar, but the two didn’t seem to notice them. All they could see was the Legendary Pokémon in front of them. They were fixated on nullifying the death of the universe, and no one wanted to ruin that.
No matter how much Cynthia wanted to scream and run up to her, she didn’t want the moment she reunited with Dawn to be her last.
No matter how much Emmet wanted to take his brother and bundle him up in blankets and make sure he never left his sight ever again… he couldn’t. There was an entire sea separating Unova and Sinnoh; he could never get there in time.
All he could do was watch as his brother fought side-by-side with Sinnoh’s missing champion. Emmet— and everyone else in the world— prayed for his brother’s safety.
Almighty Dialga…
God, if you’re listening…
Almighty Palkia…
Emmet’s gaze never strayed from the television, no matter how many reporter screamed questions at him. He’d taken his eyes off of his brother and lost him so many years ago. He wouldn’t risk it this time. Emmet would watch, and pray.

Going off of @the-baron-of-burgle's post, I'm very fond of the idea of Ingo having a slow recovery of his memory when he returns to Nimbasa while Emmet is being absolutely heartbroken...I give to you all my dialogue on this. Obligatory BLANKSHIPPERS DNI
Ingo: You...you look just like me.
Emmet: I do! Of course I do! Ingo- it's Emmet. Emmet, that's my name!
Ingo: ....Emmet...Emmet- yes, I...You and I are partners in battle, yes? We...we would be in a place where everything would run on tracks..
Emmet: No, no, no..not just partners! Why do you think I look like you?!
Ingo: I...I don't know.
Emmet: Brothers! We're brothers...We're twins. You and I share our lives together! We battle together! I liked it so very much. So much...And- And then you went off and...I-
Ingo: ...You're my...Yes- Yes I think I recall something..We grew up together...what was the name of that town? There were carts at the center...someone who played the flute- just as I used to back in Hisui.
Emmet: Anville...It was Anville town. Remember how we used to always watch the trains come and go? How we would come and go to Nimbasa? Those days...I never want them to go. Never go. Please- never go alone ever again. I never want to be apart from you.
Ingo: ...I don't know what to say, but I...I never want to part from you either. I remember a few things- those trainers we'd battle...In Hisui, I wanted people to love battling as much as you did. I remember that you loved winning more than anything else. I think...I love winning with you more than anything else.
Emmet: And I love you more than anything else! Chandelure and I..we've missed you very, very much! Elesa too...I don't think we've all ever been so sad.
Ingo: ...Chandelure...Elesa...Nimbasa— so many names to remember...Chandelure, did it have ghastly flames that resembled those of Typhlosion?
Emmet: ...Typhlosion with ghastly flames? Just where did you go for all these months...
Ingo: Hisui...I don't know where it was, but...There was a boy who looked like someone we knew. He had a hat with an adornment of emerald.
Emmet: Clay...You remember seeing someone like him?
Ingo: Yes, in the Pearl Clan, we were both wardens— watching over our lord and lady...his name was Lian.
Emmet: ...Hisui, wardens, people who resembled others— I need to know more. Much more. I want to know where you've been..I want to know what you understand so we can both understand. I want to understand how much you've been through, I do.
Ingo: ...If it helps, I feel the same. All of this is so new to me, and yet, my heart tells me that I am home again. This lively city- it reminds me of how Jubilife was...
Emmet: Jubilife...Pearl Clan...I think I know what we should do.
Ingo: Hm?
Emmet: How about, when you're ready, that we head to Sinnoh together? To Jubilife City? Maybe that'd jog your memory...
Ingo: ...I'd like that very much.
Emmet: I would too. Let's get you home, okay? Everyone's waiting for you.

I cannot imagine exactly how Ingo just. Vanished. Imagine like when they observe the subway cameras, they do see him on the platform, then he turns his head like he saw something and then just. The camera glitches for 5 seconds, and when they refocus, it’s JUST Ingo’s pokeballs as proof that he was there but now he’s not.
On one hand, thatd be reassuring that Ingo didn't leave out of annoyance or tiredness or ect BUT... ON THE OTHER, it could probably spark some intensity in Emmet to get him back from what took him, so

i see ingo getting parentally attached to rei/akari, they both came to hisui through unnatural means, their both kindof outsiders for it, your dialogue options kindof imply they have memory issues as well, and they can battle like a champ. plus they keep on bopping alpha pokemon in the face with mud, and this child might die without supervision
plus: consider emmets perspective, your brother disappears for like, a couple years, im gonna say like 5 at most for the sake of this example, and comes back with an entire ass 15 year old, whose fought gods and won
I REALLY LIKE THAT IDEA.. especially since Ingo would definitely feel lonely without someone to call family, even if he doesn't realize it. He would slowly start considering Rei something of a son, or an idiot little brother and they'd probably become pretty inseparable with time.
So WHAT IF, once he manages to return and get back to the groove of things he introduces his newly adopted kid to his brother (whos hesitant at first, of course) and soon enough
