OC Stuff - Kisyku & Roombot

This is Kisyku!! (That's "Kiss-eye-coo" ^^,)

He's my main OC for a space story I've been working on, Bodacious Kisyku World (BKW for short). I've had this character for like.. 7-8 years now?? He's gone through so many changes and iterations, but I'm really happy with where he is now. ^^

Kisyku is a Celestial!! An ancient and (almost) extinct race that are biologically composed of mostly Cosmic Energy, which is like this story's equivalent to like DBZ chi and the sort.

Oh right uhm, I should talk about Cosmic Energy first that's pretty important..

Cosmic Energy

Cosmic Energy is channeling the vacuum of space into a combustible dense "liquid" like blob. Think of their appearance like the dream blocks from Celeste, except you can sling it. Kisyku's main form of attack involves slinging this explosive space jelly around. CE also is used to sponge damage to his body among other things.

Channeling and using Cosmic Energy is like a lost art though, not many people can do it (like humans can't at all for example), so it's a pretty forgotten/unknown thing in the modern day.

But Celestials are VERY good at it, like dangerously so.. the story mainly revolves around Kisyku's usage of it, and how he tends to push the limits to dangerous degrees..

okay NOW Kisyku and Roombot!!

Yeah!! So the Celestial's true form is actual incomprehensible to the naked eye. It'd shatter your mind to just look at him (so his looks literally kill). Because of this, Kisk' takes on this illusion-like humanoid form, which is the silly design I draw him as all the time.

He got a few human things wrong, like the pointy ears, and the weird club-like legs.. but in a universe full of all sorts of aliens, that's not really much of an issue.

He's 5'3", full of energy, and very rambunctious. Very scrunkly.. Him and Roombot, go on countless adventures raiding ships and running from danger (Brigades, Bounty Hunters, the "Cosmos," you name it!!)

Cosmos? Oh uh, don't worry about them, they're very dormant/inactive, but they don't seem to respond well to Kisyku, and Kisyku doesn't really respond well to them either. A lot of his adventures involve rampages across Cosmo facilities and fleets, wrecking up as much damage as he possibly can.

Anyways he likes to chill on Earth, specifically a small and quiet beach-side town. It helps him stay low from all the dangers constantly after him. He avoids using his cosmic powers here to blend in without causing much ruckus. He quite enjoys the downtime!! Getting to soak in the shores and skies.

Roombot is his little flying droid-companion-thingamabob. He's kinda an ass, but also Kisyku's voice of reason sometimes. He kinda is just along for the ride and doesn't put up TOOOO much fuss with whatever Kisk wants to do haha. He can float and Kisyku can also grab onto him to be elevated upwards (and even horizontally to speed on forward).

Roombot I can best describe as feeling "buoyant" to lean onto. It's like holding onto a board in a pool y'know?

But yeah!! You can learn a lot about him through that one AMA I did for him a bit back

He means a lot to me, so someday I hope to really bring this story to life. I hope you guys continue to like drawings of him and the other characters until then though!!

OC Stuff - The Bomb Brigade

This one's a doozy cuz each member has a lot going on so strap in!!!

Their job is to hunt intergalactic monsters, beasts, and other such dangerous anomalies. With Kisyku running around rampant across the Cosmos, he quickly becomes their biggest target yet!! While their heavy duty weaponry and means of combat mean serious business, the brigade often gets caught up in numerous misadventures (sometimes they're just outright hard to take seriously...)

Also.. I call them the Bomb Brigade as their official title, but I'd imagine in the actual story the name alliteration gets mixed up and butchered every single time, as if no one can remember the actual name hahahaha. Anywhos..

Bombs

Bombs is the head-honcho of the Brigade. He's a human from Earth who leads his team with great confidence (sometimes to a fault). He can be stubborn.. and.. hard to co-operate with sometimes.. but all in all he's a captain who cares deeply for the whole team. Each member to him is like family, so he's always doing anything he can to look out for them.

I'd imagine whenever the Brigade needs to put up with Kisyku (like a temporary truce, or whenever they eventually form an alliance later in the story), him and Bombs would be that kind of friendly rival dynamic that just has them constantly arguing while they have to put up with each others annoyances.

Bombs also has an interesting speech-style, adding a lot of S to the end of words and stuff.. He also has a big rocket launcher, because he believes anything can be solved with explosives.

Bits and Blitz

Bits is little shark-manta-alien-thing who was recruited by Bombs for his incredible technical prowess. He's super smart, and having four hands is quite helpful when you're the team's primary mechanic. Outside of his technical craft, however, he enjoys gardening a lot. Bombs even lets him have his own garden room on the ship! He also just talks with a lot of sailor/sea terminology hahaha

Bits invented Blitz before joining Bombs, but she was just the orb/eye part back then. She didn't get the laser cannon extension until Bits built Bash (yeah he built Bash too!!). Bits has been meaning to give her a proper robot body, but she's actually happy being just the way she is.

Blitz is like a sister to Bits, having a cheery heart-of-gold. She speaks in beeps, chirps, and whirs, but everyone can still understand what she has to say anyways. She's a great listener, and often the one the Brigade members (especially Bury...) confide in to talk about their feelings. Despite her physical limitations she's still a girl at heart, doing things like makeup and stuff. :P

Bash

Most of Kisyku's Cosmic Energy rampages are mainly targeted at ships, fleets, and facilities created by the Cosmos. They're a mostly unknown/dormant race that watches over the universe to ensure Cosmic Energy isn't abused. That's kinda a quick summary that I'll likely go into more detail on another time.. but that's all the context you really need to know for now.

The Brigade often searches through the aftermath of those destructive rampages for anything useful. Bits managed to collect enough scraps and parts to give Blitz a laser cannon, and eventually construct Bash.

Bash is forged from the scraps of Cosmic Destruction. He has one goal and one goal alone and it's to "kill the Celestial." That tunnel-vision mindset is kinda like Android 16 in DBZA, except Bash is also very arrogant too. He often sees himself as the superior being, the greatest, flawless, you get the idea. This is likely a result of his Cosmic technology DNA haha. Somehow though, he's just co-operative enough to still be tolerable... except for Bury... him and Bury kinda argue like a LOT.

Bash has no powers aside from sheer physical strength and agility. He can spin his body around a whole 360 degrees, making him very versatile and a threat that's able to keep up with someone as quick and nimble as Kisyku.

Eventually, Bits constructs the Giga Bash, a giant mecha that the Brigade uses at the climax of their rivalry with Kisyku in attempt to finish him off once and for all! This form of Bash is piloted by the rest of the Brigade, and has tons of features like missiles, swords, lasers, and all sorts of heavy duty artillery.

Kisk does.. end up beating the Giga Bash though.. I'd imagine it's then that they finally put the bounty stuff aside for good. Though I imagined later big story beats will have them bring Giga back out again to help out with massive threats Kisk faces.

Bury

Oh boy uhm. Bury is. interesting. She's my personal favorite member of the Brigade (prolly why she's the only one I have an actual reference sheet for so far).

Bury was discovered by the Brigade on a desolate snowy planet. It was by complete luck, since they were just there to inspect some debris of a crashed Cosmo-structure, likely caused by Kisyku.

They found her unconscious, badly beaten, and missing an arm.. but the bleeding looked fresh enough for them to know that there's a chance they could still save her, so they decided to take her in.

During her recovery time, none of Bits's tests were able to identify a known species, making her a total anomaly to the crew. The Brigade pretty much had nothing to work off of either. The only things she had to her name was some busted up armor, and a staff which seemed to be powered by Cosmic Energy....

Actually, she didn't have a name either. Or maybe she does, but either way she wouldn't say. She refuses to answer any questions about her past, as she's very closed off and harsh about it. She was code-named Bury by Bombs, since she seems like she wants to put her past behind her, and that's what she gone by since.

Bits would eventually give her a prosthetic arm, powered by Cosmic Energy. She seems to be good at using that, if her scythe is anything to go by. Speaking of, her scythe was also upgraded to being a sniper rifle convertible, so she can play both long range and close range coverage on the team.

It took time, but she got into the general swing of the Brigade dynamic pretty well. She got a little more vocal, often arguing with Bash or just being kind of aggressive towards the others. So for the most part she gets along! She has nowhere else to go, so she ends up secretly enjoying sticking around them. She also has a lot of alone time too...

I guess tsundere is the term for her?? I think of her as having a really hard-outer shell but a waterballoon for an interior.

In terms of the Brigade's interactions with Kisyku in particular though, Bury seems to really stick out from the other members. She just feels weirdly off-putting, and especially quiet. Maybe it's because they both use Cosmic Energy? Not many people can do that.

She just seems to have a lot going on that she just doesn't wanna talk about. For her to be so locked up about her past leaves her shrouded in complete mystery to the rest of the cast. I hope that one day if I can truly get BKW out there, I'll get to uncover her secrets to you all.

Anyways, like I said, she's the only one here with a proper reference sheet, so here she is!! She sounds really uncooperative, but I promise she does just end up working out in cooperating with the Brigade, they all openly accept her as one of them! If only if she'd stop arguing so much with Bash lmao.

And wow that's them!! Hopefully you learned a lot about these guys, it's my first time sharing info about them like this!! Now I can go and draw my silly doodles about them :P
