Heisenberg's mysterious belt-device
Any keen-eyed gamer may have spotted this weird little thing attached to Heisenberg's belts. It's visible in several of his cutscenes, but much easier to see in the model viewer with the shirtless Heisenberg mod installed ‒ so please enjoy this one full-torso shot I have included to show exactly where it sits (and for no other reason).
For a device we never see him use or even comment on, there's a lot of detail on this thing.

And I was legitimately all set to share some theories about what it might be, but then, on a whim, I tried plugging a close-up into google's reverse image search, and... holy shit, it's a real thing?

Specifically, it's a WWII German flash/signal light. The three sliders on the front can be used to apply a coloured filter in red, yellow or green, presumably using different colours or patterns of flashes to communicate over medium distances.

So... here's where things get a little awkward. Heisenberg is German (or at least, he has a German name, and names his creations in German). He wears what appears to be a WWII-era army dog tag ‒ the kind of thing which could imply pride in some past military service ‒ and he's implied to be decades older than he looks.
Fans with no more than this to go on have already speculated about whether Heisenberg might have fought for the Nazis back in WWII ‒ but tags like that were also issued by other countries and in other decades (if the tag's even originally his), so that's hardly definitive. But giving Heisenberg a specifically-WWII, specifically-German signal light, of a model distinctive enough that a machine could identify it for me, that sure is a choice!
In response to an interview question about that dog tag, RE8's director has explicitly stated that Heisenberg "is completely unrelated to Nazis." But you have to wonder a little if every designer who contributed to his look and costume was on the same page on the 'unrelated' part. I was pretty happy ignoring the dog tag, but finding another bit of Nazi paraphernalia on the same character is where I start to give it the side-eye.
All awkward subtext aside, it's safe to assume that in the year 2021, Heisenberg is not using this thing to signal long-lost time-displaced Nazis, so what's it for? Do his Soldats respond to colour signals? Or is it maybe just a convenient case with some handy switches on the outside that he's repurposed to house some new device entirely? (Look, I've done just enough hobby electronics to have done the same kind of thing myself ‒ neat little cases with in-built external switches are handy.) From a Watsonian perspective, that's the explanation I'd be happiest going with.
From the Doylist side though ‒ geez, is it really so hard to not pick Nazi design elements for a character who's supposed to be "completely unrelated to Nazis"? For all his (many and glaring) character flaws, nothing in Heisenberg's character suggests Nazi sympathies (or any military background, for that matter), and it's nice that the official answer on that is an emphatic 'no'. But it'd be nicer if we didn't have to ask the question in the first place.
