You didnāt know that morning when he left it was going to be the last time you saw him. He always came home on time for dinner or at least made the effort to call you to let you know that plans had changed, and he was going to be late. But by the time dinner had come and gone you knew something wasnāt right.
It had all come crashing down when Hayley wounded up on your front porch tears in her eyes as she looked you in the eyes. He had left early in the morning after a freaked-out Hayley called him needing his help in a fight that must have been too big for the Mikaelson to handle by themselves.
Opening your door, the painful pit in your stomach grew as you saw a beaten and broken Hayley āI-I couldnāt save him Y/Nā She blurted out as tears had began to arise in her eyes. āWe were trapped in chairs with wolves ban pumping into our bloodā Your world had stopped turning then frizzing in that very second those very five words that came out of her mouth. The rest of her words where just coming in one ear and out the other. Time had frozen.

āJackson why do you always have to go help Hayley; I donāt get itā You had pressed harder into the subject as Jackson was getting dressed putting his favorite flannel on.
āBecause Hayley and her baby are a part of this pack. And when it comes to a fight Iām not backing down. Iām the Alpha of this pack, Iām only doing what I know to do to protect this pack. To protect youā he looked at you then. He wavy hair tucked back behind both his ears he gave you a reassuring smile.
Sighing in defeat āYou knowā¦ I am a wolf too. I can handle myself very well Mr. Kennerā You say biting you lip to not smile back at him.
āTrust me I know you can protect yourself just fine Mrs. Kenner. But thatās not the point Iām trying to make. I need to protect our home. And while Iām gone our people are going to need you. So thatās why you canāt join meā He added gesturing for you to walk out into the living room first before him.

āI know I know, just make sure you are home before dinner or so help me godā He cut you off finishing your sentence before you.
āIāll be back I promise, before dinner!ā he called out as he started to walk out the door, he paused turning back to you, āI love you, Iāll see you later alligator.ā
āIn a while my crocodileā You replied sighing as he left your home bright and earlier in the morning.
Days and night blended in together. All of them intel the day of his funeral. Everyone was in your house saying comforting things to you, telling how brave and strong he was. Bur you really werenāt there anymore. Physically yes but after the all the crying and the lonely nights you werenāt there any more mentally.

Mary, bless that womenās heart she took your arm when it was time and lead you out to the dock. It was the first time you had saw his face prior to his death. He was pale lips no longer the warm pink color. Skin no longer alive, heart no longer beating. His voice no longer able to be heard. His touch no longer able to be felt. The fire inside of him was gone, and with it apart of you as well.

Taking the pen in your shaking hands you opened the old family book up. Looking over all the past generations names. He shouldnāt be in here so soon but here you were righting his name āJackson Kennerā you had wrote before handing it off to Mary who stood on your right. On your left stood Hayley handing you Jack bow and some arrows. You approached him now.

āHey jack...ā you had whispered kneeing down besides the canoe he was laying in. You set the bow and the arrows on top him alone with a picture of the both of you. You had to try to compose yourself in front of the whole pack. You couldnāt break down again.

āIāll see you later Alligatorā you whispered putting a kiss to his forehead before you pulled back the white sheet over his head.
Standing up you grabbed the moonshine that was sitting besides you. Taking a quick sip of it before pouring it over his lifeless body. You turned taking the torch and laying it with him. His body and the canoe lighting on fire. With a small push you watched as it floated burning the corpse of the man you use to love

āJack what if we get caught?ā You had whispered as you both snuck out. āI donāt want to get in trouble with your mom or mineā You whisper yelled again as he drugged you out.

āIt is the night before our wedding Y/N, and we have been through all these crazy trails with at least someone watching us. I just want to be alone with you for one momentā He whispered back as he led you towards the dock under the alter that was placed there. āYou ready for tomorrow?ā he asked trying to contain his excitement for marrying you.

āYes of course I am. Wouldnāt have smoked that truth root if I werenātā You giggled looking up at him. In that moment you released something he never took his eyes off you. This was it. He was it for you. Your one and only.
āHave I ever said I love youā You asked causing a huge smile on his face before he leaned down to kiss you.āJackson Kenner What did I tell you! You two arenāt supposed to be with each other on the night of your wedding!ā You could hear Mary yell.
āwell looks like ill be seeing you later alligatorā he responded once he pulled away from your kiss.
āIn a while crocodileā You responded as you both got taken into separate houses again.
