First Kale harvest of the season, premature but baby Kale is still Kale and it's definitely got that Kale flavor. And of course since I've done a leaf harvest I'm going to see more growth from the rest of the leaves and stems. I'm starting to see tiny flower buds on one of the bigger pepper plants in this pot too, still deciding if I will let them fruit or not this early. Got some more seeds for the season (year), gonna plant some Rosemary and Peppermint and save the rest for later...for now. I get carried away but it's so freaking fun to see a ton of green that you grew yourself and in a bland less green place...pollen green can't come fast enough, I'm craving spring, especially after this brutal winter. 🎶 It's the actual most wonderful time of the year!!!🎶 Spring, and it's only the beginning of the beginning and it's about to get a whole lot greener, a whole lot warmer, and a whole lot bigger! Just picked up this year's first new seeds to go in the future Future Gardens Mark-3 (currently in a downsized Mark-2 beta. Pictures coming soon, I need to take more) and if they go well they will all be available this Summer at the @grovestpeoplesmarket at it's new location at the corner of Florida St. and Glenwood Ave. So if you see something thing you like be sure to tell me and or to come out to the Grove St People's Market this year from April 11th all the way into October. I plan to have all kinds of new products featured throughout the year for my mom's business, Purple Passion Pitstop, and Future Gardens...and maybe a new third business that is currently under construction 😉😉. I also plan to launch a service helping people start gardens in their homes and yards later on this year! The future is now and I'm gearing up! These 10 little seed packs are only the start of something that I already started for the year...earlier this month. In a few months I'm going to start accepting donations for the garden and projects related. It can be pretty much anything so, if you want to be a part of this movement early in it's life, start saving things that you think could be useful in a garden, like almost anything like but not limited to: various woods and wood items, sheet metals and other metal materials, old hand tools and power tools that still function but don't get used often, clean jars (like pickle jars, and mason jars), clean plastic bottles, old clean 5 gallon buckets, wooden pallets (broken and old), shelves, working light bulbs and lamps, bamboo (fresh and dried), organic non-gmo seeds, natural soil (none of that miracle grow BS...well maybe a little for some comparison experiments but I'd prefer the organic stuff especially if you want to eat what I grow in it), clean pots and planters of all shapes and sizes, drawers and organizers, organic compostable materials, etc. Pretty much anything that I think I can turn into something in my garden. My harvest of baby bell peppers. Though they didn't get to the size I hoped for, I'm so proud of my baby peppers and they taste amazing, more flavor than the original peppers I grew them from. It took 7 months...but I finally have peppers...on the way...still...this post is late as hell but I've been busy and fuck social media so there's that. I had 14 peppers but I took too long to tie a beach to my trellis and it snapped over...Lesson: don't procrastinate when it comes to gardening tasks. I couldn't save the fruit and it's a shame cuz it was like the perfect shape of a bell pepper...there were 2 that grew like that and 1 died before full maturity, slao they were the ones growing closest to to window door they sit next too and now that it's later in the year the sunlinght angle had changed and is finally coming through the window again for a few hours when its sunny, so that's good and now the stalk that's leaning into the vertical blinds has huge leaves from getting natural sunlight as opposed to the rest of the plants that sit higher up that are only getting light from 1600 lumen LED lights at the most. And that's 1 difference between indoor and outdoor gardening, sunlight is the best but it's not consistent because we have clouds, weather, trees, buildings and night time taking away the precious life giving light that can also burn your plants if they're not used to it from growing inside (this hasn't happened to me yet but because it's been such a slow transition and the plants are fully grown there's less damage if any), tip: don't move your indoor plants outside for more than about an hour a day for a week or two, if it's an overcast 2-3 hours a day but let them get acclimated to the new environment, they might curl up their leaves if it's too much, at this point take them back inside but take preventitive measures in case some bugs may have wondered their way into your pots. Still looking for a house to move into and I can't wait till we do so I unlimit my new lifestyle and start my experiments with different ways of growing and breeding (a hybrid is not the same as a GMO, hybrids occur in nature all the time most commonly with plant life due to pollinators going from plant to plant regardless of species as where GMOs are creating by swapping genes with other life forms in a laboratory with complex equipment and usually take all the flavor out (at Greensboro, North Carolina) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnXY4TRB-Gy/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1qn00250fyd1n
